Lets get something straight SW. Just because a console goes down in price to say 299 DOESN'T MEAN that the amount you originally paid goes down. So lets have an admittance thread on how much each of us has really spent on our preferred console and services.

Include all your costs on hardware and online services

I have paid

499 on a ps3 with b/c in 2007. That ps3 broke in march from ylod so I spent 40 dollars on high quality flux and thermal compound to fix it. Alas that fix only lasted awhile and after ylod reoccurred 3 more times I gave up and bought a 350 dollar ps3 slim. I also have bought subscribed to ps+ (50 dollars) for 1 year to date.

For me the cost has been $ 1055 just to own a ps3 for 2 1/2 years along with Plus.

Your turn

edit: Im adding in my controllers now. 50 dollars for the extra sixaxis. 65 for the new dualshock

360, about 350 or so post tax. PS3, about 250 or so post tax (with a Gift Card) TV used only for the purpose of gaming, 500 post tax Semi decent Laptop that can play games, about 1200 post tax

..

So thats about $2300 or so for fixed costs Games, Live and what have you will obviously sky rocket that.

..

Personally I am much more worried about how much night clubs, booze and night entertainment cost me

500 on a 360

300 on a PS3

400 on a Wii.

0 on the services but I had to pay to repair my 360 twice so it came up to 500. So in total 1200US.

Wii - $249 @ launch

PS3 - $299 @ slim launch

360 - $149 arcade model

$700 + tax for all three consoles + maybe around $150 for extra controllers. Never paid a dime for online services or repairs. I get most of my games used and very cheap, so it's really quite affordable if you are careful.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

$150 for DS

$250 for Wii

$300 for 360, I believe

~$120 for 3 years of XBL Gold

$300 for PS3

1120 stone-cold ducats, not including my PC and upgrades to that.

PSN hasn't cost me a penny (wait, maybe $6 for a PS1 game I have), and Wiiware has cost me nothing since I bought it.

Why put something I spent no, or next to no money on, into a debate about what I spent money on?

250 for the wii hasn't broken down or anything so I got a good deal. Add controllers and the deal I got on the charging kit and I spent roughly 340.

300 on the 360 and its RROD on me 3 times already but i haven't payed M$ a cent, bought 2 recharge wires because one broke (80) and bought 2 50 foot ethernet cables because 360 doesnt come with built in wifi (100). So all in all I spent 480 on the 360 in over a 3 year period.

Edit: Oh wait I forgot M$ charges us to play online so Ive had it for 3 years and bought 2 year sunscriptions (100) and one 3 months that I got for 10 bucks. So add on an extra 110 bucks and my 360 total = 590 bucks :| Could of just got a launch ps3 and saved me a lot of problems and money.

Yup, seems as people like to pit PC against consoles, why not pit them against each other in price?

My PC cost $1800, cheaper than what I spent on hardware and services for the consoles :P

I kid, though, as I don't really care 8)

i cant remember exact prices but these are ballpark. 360: 400 euro. it came with an extra controller and project gotham racing 3. wii: 250 euro. PS3: 530 euro but it came with ridge racer and resistance 1. PS3 conroller DS3 (the one that came with my PS3 broke): 25 euro. however that turned out to be a cheap chinese knockoff and stopped working after a firmware update. woops. funny story though...it felt slightly more comfortable than the genuine article :P. genuine PS3 DS3 controller: 50 euro. 360 wireless: 90 euro. WM+ 35 euro. i got it in the WSR pack so ill call the WM+ itself 35 euro. so roughly 1380 euro. call it 1250 if were to discount the game i got with the PS3 and 360. i dont use live golf or PSN+. ive had my wii and 360 replaced but under warranty so that cost me nothing.

No I didn't buy it right away...2 years after but primarily for my console.
Wasn't a really necessary purchase since there was already an hdtv at home.

Anyway,
€399 ($514) for a PS3 bundle with 2 (non-dualshock) controllers and 2 platinum games. Bought it in May 2008. It's still a good bargain at this time which kinda surprises me :S Maybe not for you U.S. folks, but we get ripped a lot here in Europe. €599 ($771) was launch price here.

People try to include monitors and mouse pads (or gaming mouse surfaces how ever you want to put it) and the like to the cost of how expensive PC gaming is. If you are buying a TV just for gaming, then the cost is relevant. If you already have a TV that you are gonna attach your console to, then no, it would not be relevant.

Its like including rent or the electric bill lol. Lets just stick to the basics of the console and or computer.

Yeah that makes sense I know some people who bought HDTV's just so they can fully experience the Ps3's graphical potential.
