Hundreds, probably thousands, more than what would have been neccessary for my gaming needs. I just bought a Saturn and I still have loads of games on PS3 and 360 I haven't finished.
I can only really count this gen, there is no way I could remember everything I bought that long ago.
This gen I have bought 3 consoles (PS3, Xbox 360 and PSP) and a fair chunk of accessories. That adds up to around £750 or so, probably more. This gen I have purchased around 86 games at an average of about £15. That's around £1290. So for this gen around £2040. Wow, that's alot more than I thought. I don't think I want to know how much I've spent overall.
Using $35 as an average price for retail games, and $10 on average for the DL games on the various platforms, plus the systems and accessories, somewhere around $5000 this generation alone, not counting any of the HD movies I bought as a direct result of the game systems.
Lets see I've bought personally dreamcast (2 one died), 60 games, a ps2 (2 one died) and about 20 games, an xbox, (3 oned died and one I gave away) with over 80 games, a 360 (3 gave one away and have an extra for lan gaming) adn over 30 games. 3 different hdtvs and 5 surround sound systems.
adn an average of 4 controllers per system. just a guess about 20k give or take a few thousands. almost forgot the ps3 (60 gb 600.00) and abuout 3 games and 30 brdvd's.
Adding up everything over the course of my life including stuff I bought and gifts from others, my collection would be close to around $13,000. Maybe a bit more, but that sounds about right.
I just fall short of you. My estimated collection value is $4,437.78. I love that feature of Gamespot. Right now my prefer console is the PSOne, and my collection score is a 8.4. Of course that's just software. I am guessing at least $10K+.
me i spent $700 on my tv $400 on my PS3 i got 6 $60 games 2 $20 and 1 $80 game. so in total that......$1580 that number hasn't included accessories and DLC which i guess would push it to about $1650 gezz i spend too much. but thats just this gen if i account my whole gaming life probably $4000+

let's see... i've bought PS2, Wii, GC, PS1. that's about $850 right there. factor in the games i've bought for all those systems, including games for the two systems i didn't buy (NES, SNES), it's gotta be in the multi-1000s.
i mean, i've only had the Wii since the summer and the total is over $1000.
Over my lifetime? I'm terrified just thinking about it. I'd say around $10,000 all told if you include the PC as a console. Wow, that's just sad ... I could've paid off my car with that money *cries*. Then again, it'd be a really boring 23 years, not playing any games, just to have $10,000 to pay off a car that would've eventually been paid off anyway...
been gaming since 84, had over a dozen systems, numerous pc upgrades, mountains of games and accessories. i bet its some astronomical amount. wouldnt have a clue how much exactly but it'll be well into the thousands, tens of thousands most likely. worth it though!
