How much will GT5 Sell?

well many lems seem to think sony doesnt have a high selling exclusive game, well we had GTA:SA on PS2 (timed exclusive) sold 19mil copies on PS2 alone.

they seem to think Halo is the highest selling franchise of all time and is worth more then any sony franchise.....

anyway how much will GT5 sell?

GT1, over 10mil

GT2, Over 9mil

GT3, 14.89mil

GT4, over 10mil

GT5 demo aka "prologue" nearly 5mil (it had no hype or marketing at all) its hard to find aswell (retail) i never see it in any stores in Australia

Halo CE, 6mil

Halo 2, 8mil

Halo 3, 11mil

keep in mind PS2 & PS1 had huge piracy issues, and halo 1 & 2 were the only good exclusive games on xbox (probly the only exclusive aswell, well there is that conkers remake)

GT5 is going to sell a lot and that's all I know for sure.

I am not sure how much this game will actually sell. Gran Turismo Prologue sold about 3.6 million according to Vgchartz. The racing genre doesn't seem as popular this generation as last generation. There is also a lot of competition with games such as Forza. Even the Need for Speed series has lost a lot of momentum this generation.

The PS3 doesn't have a single game yet that has sold 5 million. I think we may be a little too optimistic in predicting that GT5 will sell 8-9 million like its predecessors.

I think GT5 may end up in the 5-7 million category. I honestly don't know that many hardcore racing gamers anymore. It seems everyone has moved on to FPS and the occasional good RPG.

Some of my friends are buying it just because it has 1000+ cars, so if the gameplay is improvedover the past games i'd say it wil certainly pass the 5 million mark.

Forza has made 2 games during GT5's development time.

For all we know they could just release forza 4 at the same time of GT5.

Which would devastate GT5 in terms of sales.

GT4 sold 3+ mil in one day, and to this day has sold 10+ mil.

I think GT5 will surpass both those figures. Its going to be an amazing game, can't wait :D

I do not except it to sell at a faster pace than Halo, either, even though the PS3 userbase now is a lot greater than the Xbox 360 userbase during the Halo launch. Halo 3 nearly came close to selling through 5 million in its opening week, and only 11 million+ Xbox 360 systems had been sold worldwide then. I don't expect GT5 to do such things, though...WoeJustWoe

well there is a diffrence to how FAST and how MUCH they sell all up

MW2 is the fastest selling game of all time

its sold 16mil worldwide on 2 consoles

With Gran Turismo Fives release we no longer have the need to drive a real car since GT5 is set @ a higher resolution than real life @ 1080p 3D!!! *sarcasm. I say 6-8mil at best, the lower overall ps3 owner will most definently hamper the potential sales it had with the previous installments.

in the region of 10 million its a named brand and the end product sells fact.Its like Sony's Mario or halo in a sense no matter what IT will always sell.

I have always said 10m, it should be the highest selling PS3 game.

im not really a person to keep up with sales of games tbh.So i dont know and going by this board it was shunned royally for its depature from tried and tested gameplay.I dunno why MS wanted Ensemble to work on it anyway, would have been better to see an AoE4....but no.......

People said the same about GOW3 but yet according to early reports its selling better than the previous ones on a smaller install base PS2 had a lot of piracy its like PSP.

What competition, do you mean Forza 3, which barely sold 2.3 million? Saleswise, there is only one definite racing simulator and that is GT and has always been.

To answer the question GT5 will sell like GT3. New generation, new hardware, a significant leap in innovation. It will sell 15 million.

Probably the incentive to make this thread in the first place is the denial of lemmings to see the commercial potential of GT5.
