How Nintendo's Switch voice chat will *apparently* work!

So, assuming this will be the case for every 3rd party + Nintendo in regards to online voice chat on the go, it would appear one still needs to plug it in to both the phone and the actual Switch. Which will be hilarious if true. BIG IF, btw.

So. Is this what you expected System Warriors (and Switch owners in particular)? What do you make of it?

Is it? Never saw 3rd party headphones for the Vita, 3DS, DS and PSP using a similar system, at all :P It can just be a crazy overdesign by a 3rd party. Or it could be an early "symptom" of a dumb problem (that wasn't even a problem to begin with). Time will tell I guess!

Nintendo slow to catch up on common technological trends as usual. Phone requirement, multiple pieces of third party accessories, wires everywhere. Yeah, this is going nowhere.

Better wait/hope till they do this properly in the Switch refresh instead.

It's only misleading because the implication is that this is Nintendo's solution and not Hori's. But you're right in that is clearly going to be an issue that needs to be resolved and there is no clean way to do it. Well at least no clean way given that Nintendo has backed themselves into a corner with this shit.

I don't want to use my (dated) smart phone in addition to my game console. I hope there is another all-in-one solution.

I'm gonna just use my IPhone, I don't need headset.

It would just be far more helpful for me if I could work everything from my Switch console.

Admittedly, chat is something i rarely use anyway except for co-op scenarios. Even when I'm playing multiplayer i don't usually bother. Still, this "solution" is embarassing.

Good ol' Nintendo. Always delivers a laugh or two.

The Switch is pretty much shit. I say that this after realizing that the hardware does not support Bluetooth headphones a standard feature for ALL tablet devices now you have this bullshit contraption. But, I can be sure the Nintendo apologist would find some way to justify it. I look forward to reading those posts. :)

I don't think they will. Looking at that diagram it shows the headphone jack and USB plugging into a breakout box that then plugs into the lightning port.

Just noticed the Squid looking design. Very impressive touch.

Im pretty sure the only reason this device exists, is to have game audio in the same headset that you are using for voicechat. We all have know that the voice chat was going to be done theough an app on android/ios. This solution puts everything in the same headset.

Switch is awesome, I doubt the online features would have been any different if they had just made a traditional console.

I found out the hard way that this supposed portable device lacks bluetooth. But don't worry it would be there in version 2.0 with no BC to 1.0.

i don't use voice chat....ever...tried it a bit back on the 360...its more annoying than anything...people playing music...eating coughing....getting into fights.

i sometimes use text chat though.... like in monster hunter 3 ultimate on wiiu i used text chat instead of voice....

and on PC i also prefer text.

I was totally expecting a picture of two people sitting on a couch just turning their heads and talking to each other. Voila, voice chat.

If I have to buy some sort of adapter to plug my phone into my switch so I can run a microphone to my phone it is horrible and I don't have to try it to come to that conclusion.

So, this is the MOST cumbersome way of voice communicating on any modern day console and you want people to waste their money first when the setup as it is already garbage before they have the right to complain? Do you buy things that look shitty but reserved the thought until after you purchase it? LOL
