Poll How often do you skip cutscenes/dialogues? (42 votes)
Are you generally interested in following the story every time you play a game, or you just want to get into the action?

I voted "sometimes". If I'm playing a game I find interesting, I will most likely not skip a single dialogue. Huge games like Skyrim is an exception with heaps and heaps of dialogue. Sometimes I read them before the character finish talking for example and therefor skip. Depends on my mood really, but I rarely skip dialogues. I mostly just skip when I'm playing a game I've already played.
I skip em if given the option. I still haven't seen many of the cutscenes in both Metro games. So long as the game tells me what my objectives are, I skip the cutscenes.
Sometimes, but I do love watching real time in-game cutscenes more than once because it's more immersive.
I never skip cut scenes. I remember some of the FF games on the PS/PS2 were so long that I fell asleep during a couple of them, but that's about as close as I've ever come to skipping them. Unless it's a game like Dead Space where there's a cutscene before a boss, then you die at the boss, and the developers weren't clever enough to figure out that you might not want to watch the same cut scene over, and over, and over, again. Then again maybe that was by design as an incentive to work harder to beat said boss so you don't have to watch their cutscene any more.
First play through, never.
Second or more play through, almost always.
Almost the same here. I'll never skip on the first play through. On the second, sometimes, but depends on how much I liked the scene that maybe I'll want to re-watch it.
I "consume" all the dialog, but if the game lets me skip individual lines I'll often do that once I've read them instead of listening to them. However, I never skip story content unless I've seen it already. Story content (for me) is a big part of why I'm playing. The only games in which I remember being willing to skip story content was where the story content was virtually non-existed and just ate up my time (as is the case in some racing games). I skipped a few cutscenes in Forza Horizons 3 the first time they played, for instance.

Right, that's why I said almost always skip on replays since there are those times when a cut scene is really epic and watching it again is worthwhile and not a chore.
Depends on the game. Usually I don't, but if the story is crap (like Hyperdimensional Neptunia series) I'll skip them once I can't bear it anymore. Others (like Dynasty Warriors) I skip once they start repeating.
only like if i die to a boss and have to rewatch/read cutscenes thennnn I'll skip. But them stories important yo.
Almost never. It takes me out of the experience when I do it, and I don't mind the mini break....gives me the chance to get up, stretch a little bit, look outside the window to relax my eyes, etc.....but mostly I just like to experience the product as is, uninterrupted.
It's not much different from when I am watching a movie a 2nd time for example. I won't fast foward at some parts, I'll watch it from A to Z just like the first time. And this leads me to a little side note, I hate when in online co-op games when they allow the Guest player to skip cutscenes. It should always ask the permission of the host of the game. If I do skip cutscenes, it is for games I've replayed numerous times, usualy not just twice or thrice.
Depends on the game.
I listen to podcasts during a lot of games, because a lot of game stories are supremely skippable. But for stuff I have genuine interest in or grabs my attention and gets me invested I listen n watch all that stuff. But like this Battlefield 1 campaign? After 2 missions I was like nope, not even remotely giving this a chance.
