Hey, I've been a 360 gamer ever since the launch and since then I've gone through 6 units. I'm planning on jumping back onto the wagon, but I'm a bit weary this time you can understand. So, is this system more reliable?Solid927
MS didn't change anything inside the box so no it's not more reliable it's just a matter of time before the reports start coming in about the 360S RROD'ing

Actually Microsoft changed it so the slim doesn't RROD when it breaks down :P I'm sure they'll still break though.

Oh, and the new boxes dont suffer from RROD anymore, they suffer from the Death Brick.

How would we honestly know? It's not like the 360 slim has been out for a few years, and we can see the breakdown/RDOT Data for ourselves.
It just came out, we don't know.
Uh, we can assume it is better though.

The first RROD reports came in as soon as the new xbox was released. And were in quite the quantity too.
So farI think only a couple people have had problems with the new Xbox, and only one of them proving it.
It's atleast as reliable as the second batch of PS3, which were far more reliable then the 60GB etc, models.

people still bought the PS3 despite the PS2's hardware problems

There's a dude on Youtube who I am subscribed to whose gone through over 8 XBox 360's since launch and just bought another a few months ago just to play Halo: Reach. Some people just want to play Halo / Gears/ Fable that bad.

this is the problem never listen to fanboys.
anyways ignore the guy that posted above, the xbox slim has a 45nm chip inside that does not get overheat like the older 65 nm chip. ()the ps3 slim also uses a 45nm chip).
also there where 1 or 2 case where the 360 slim had over heated (people that keep consoles on for ore than 12 hours at a time) but instead of getting rrod they get a message on the screen saying that u have to turn off ur console turn it off for 15-30 minute let it cool down and everything will be fine again. this system mad 360 slim very reliable since u will know if ur console gets over heated. but it is extremely rare just like the ps3 ylod

i hear one guy ran one for 9 years straight. no breaks or anything and it still works fine.

WTH are you talking about?

I have an older model 360 and i genuinly do leave it on throughout the day ... Never had a problem, aside from the crappy network adapater which im sure is made out of used coke cans, cause it'sprobably the shoddiest peice of technology ive ever bought.
From what I've hear read and seen it's just as faulty, but it is quiter then the older models, so that's a plus. Probably still fails around 35%-55% of the time, have a hard time believing it's any lower then that.
:P

the slim has been out for 9 years?? the 360 hasnt been out for 9 yearsDidn't you know? Microsoft designed the slim first while the original Xbox was still out, but then decided it was to good for the general public so they made the inferior RROD 360 to release to the public. After profiting from people having to buy mutliple 360s, they finally decided the public was ready to see the slim. So this guy is obviously a Microsoft executive that was testing the durability of his console. 9 years running and still going strong - impressive. :P
I don't know about reliability, but mine's been working really well. If you've had 6 xboxes break on you, well that's just absurd. I had my launch system rrod once. Are you keeping it on the carpet or something?
Also, the slim has the jasper thingy mcbobber, so that should help out a lot with rrod.
