I was just thinking about this the other day, that if you have been using Bing Rewards since the PS4/XB1 launched and have been banking your reward points, by the end of this year you should have most or all of an Xbox Scorpio saved up, or enough to buy a PS4 Pro, or easily enough for a Nintendo Switch and a couple of games.

Use the internet a moderate amount? Do online search engine searches on a daily basis? Bing Rewards gives you rewards for doing searches all the time, limits can be between 15 cents to 30 cents a day on your PC, 10 to 20 cents a day for mobile searches. Then there's maybe another 5 to 10 cents or even more a day in other special points by taking short quizzes or looking at special image collections and whatnot (depends on the day). It's really easy to earn about 30 cents a day or more in rewards (or 300 points) by just doing what I normally do on my PC and smartphone. Now, it might not seem like much, but think of it like a piggy bank or a coin jar, 30 cents a day over say 4 years (about the length of a short console generation), that comes out to $438.

Now, I'm an Xbox guy. I use these rewards to redeem $5 or $10 digital store credit all the time as I've been buying nearly all digital games on my Xbox One this gen. But, even for those of you who don't have an Xbox or buy digital games for it, there are other rewards for it, you can redeem your points for gift cards to retailers like Amazon and GameStop. If you game on a PS4, you can use the points to redeem an Amazon/GameStop credit and get yourself PSN credits that way; or same for Steam and Nintendo gamers for that matter, use the rewards to get yourself something nice.

So, whether you want to save up for the follow-up to the Scorpio, start now, it's never too late. Or if you'd rather start saving up something toward the next PlayStation, start using it. Want to save up for the next Nintendo whatever, start using Bing Rewards. Don't have a goal, but want to bank them for a rainy day, you can do that. If you don't like Microsoft's Xbox, fine, whatever, but don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Is this System Wars worthy? Well, reactions might define that. Would not be surprised if some here started spouting something like Microsoft working for NSA so inter-dimensional reptilian shape-shifters that rule the world can get us to drink their fluoridated water and smell the chemtrail air and get vaccinated so blah-blah-blah something... really? Enough here for a free console, you really that paranoid? Or, is there a better reason not to? If so, I'd like to hear it.

**Oh, and only available in the United States. Maybe there's a workaround for you foreigners, but you guys might have to figure that out among yourselves.**

But you can use the rewards to get a whatever console you want, not just Xbox. You can get a PS4 or Switch, or credit on a Starbucks gift card, or whatever you can get with an Amazon or GameStop credit.

The whole reward comes from the money they make on ads. Microsoft makes money on ads, they're giving you part of what they make as an incentive to use their service. What, you going to use another search engine that banks on your use of it and gives you nothing back?

You can use whatever browser you want, just use Bing as your search engine and get reward points.

Yeah, what's makes it so bad? What do you need it to do that it doesn't? It's easily just as good as Google for 99% of what I use it for. Once in a while when I need a set of precise search operators will I go directly to Google, when I have to ever do that then I just click the shortcut I have pinned on my bookmark bar.

Nothing is wrong with it, just the worst kinds of fanboys doing their thing, if you haven't noticed that shitting on MS is the height of fashion among gamers these last few years and it doesn't even seem to be getting old yet.

Still, regardless if one hates MS because of Xbox, one doesn't have to get an Xbox with it, use the Amazon/GameStop credit to get a PS4 or Nintendo Switch. One can get other gaming systems, or use the rewards for non-gaming stuff like IHOP/Starbucks gift cards, or Amazon for non-gaming stuff they have (clothes, music, movies, books, food, etc). Or if you're just feeling philanthropic then you can donate that money, right now you can donate your rewards to the Special Olympics or the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, among other nonprofits.

Is this tied into the microsoft rewards app, if so i just started a few months ago and its pretty cool. Get points with easy quizzes then do searches on bing. I only have mobile phone so i cant do the pc centric ones like edge browser.

Takes me about 5 min to rake in my daily points. Its fun entering in the sweepstakes, i put a few points in towards the xbox one s titanfall 2 and a few into a standalone xbox one s.

Thats untrue on a technical level.

Bing is a much more sophisticated search algorith which gets more/better/accurate results.

Google's algorithm favors backlinks, which basically means the more links you have to your site..........the higher you are in the list.

Its about popular sites, ads, etc.

Bing uses key words and is capable of incorporating Flash, which Google cant see.

Sure, google is more popular, but Bing is better at actually searching.

I still use google because its the default in my browser.

Old habits die hard i guess.

I think there's ways around it, I know people in other countries have been accumulating points but finding work around to redeeming stuff.

Loading Video...

I've heard some people say they want a phone number to redeem stuff but I've honestly never needed one, it just sends my redemption codes to my email address.

I haven't been using it as much since they changed it to Microsoft rewards, increased the price of the Amazon cards, and changed the point system around, but yeah it's great for some extra money. I've got a couple hundred bucks from them over the year spending ~1-2 minutes a day when I remember to do it. It does make me use Amazon more than I used to, but it funded part of my PC, bike supplies, video games, books, presents. Plenty of stuff.

I'm signed up for bing rewards. I don't do it religiously or anything personally but just normal use i get about 60 bucks or 1 free game a year from essentially doing nothing. I did see some people on GAF due to a glitch 1 day be able to bank hundreds of free dollars for a few months worth of using bing. I also have a friend who uses several accounts and runs scripts everyday for bing searches and essentially never pays for games. He earns about 60 bucks a month free from doing it. Works well for everyone. MS makes up the money in advertising spent and gamers get free games, and more money goes to devs. It's win, win, win

@lamprey263: Yep this is the thing I was talking about in the other thread. The MS reward points also work with Live VIP rewards. You do searching with bing and do the VIP rewards quests (they started having some based on achievements or just playing certain games) and the credits pile up pretty well over time. If you buy a lot of games anyway, its definitely worth doing. Even if you dont like Bing you can just search with it for the points then goto Chrome or whatever.

I use this example every time I see people hating on paying for Live. If you actually put a lil effort into it it pays for itself and then some, plus you get even bigger discounts with Gold when your VIP status raises up.

https://rewards.xbox.com/

5000 credits = $5 on your account.

My Live sub has been paid for twice, I got Titanfall2 free, and $120 credit back on an X1S purchase last year doing the rewards stuff.

So if I understand correctly you're limited to 30 credits per day at most and 5000 credits are $5 that means that you can get like $10 per year. I think you'll pay more for the electricity needed to do the searches...

People sign on here and post here everyday so I have no idea how some think doing activities on Bing Rewards is even close to a hassle. It literally takes like 5 minutes to complete every activity including searching to get the daily Bing Reward points max. I been banking on free Microsoft credits recently because they discount the points you need to redeem. Other than that I've been getting Amazon gift cards too. I've been doing this for awhile now so almost half of my games are free or heavily discounted because of Bing Rewards. Also if you like shopping for other products on MicrosoftStore.com, every dollar spent you get like a point back into your Microsoft account. I love how everything is linked up and you could literally earn more than you spend. Lastly there's Xbox Rewards too. You get a percentage back for doing the things you're already doing like playing games, renting and buying, and doing quick surveys. Oh one last thing if you work at select retail stores that sells Microsoft products, you may be eligible to join ExpertZone and they also sell discount products and offer free items all the time including 12 months of Gold free. There's so many ways to get free stuff from the Microsoft ecosystem, it's crazy how most in SW does not know about these things. That's why I think SW isn't really a place to talk about deals and freebies, because some make getting freebies a bad thing, it's nuts lol.

There's a memory leak with Edge and Flash.

With Edge, open 3 or 5 web links from http://www.dailymail.co.uk/ushome/index.html and watch memory consumption from task manager.
