Okay... I've been a big fan of Final fantasy games and all that, but I've never played an MMO... I've heard some Friends talking about Maple Story, Guild Wars and World of Warcraft but I don't know which one to get if I want to get started on MMORPG's...

I was thinking about getting into Final Fantasy 11 for the 360, but There is a new expansion and I don't know much about that... I don't think now is a good time to get started on Any of the MMORPG's becuase Everyone is already crazy high ranks... But, There really starting to sound fun...

I've loved playing Final Fantasy 12, Final fantasy Tactics: the war of the Lions, and Final Fantasy 1 (PSP), but all of those getslow after time...

so My Questions are which MMO would be the Easiest to get into... which would be the funnest once you've been playing for a while... and how much does each one cost per month and is it coming out with any expansions that I would have to get???

I've heard of Final Fantasy 11, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Maple Story... but, I don't know which one to get if any of those...

Easiest is WoW...by far.

However to be completely honest, the fun and success you have in MMO's is generally determined purely by who you know. It will be very hard for you to start up at this point in a games cycle and be competitive. HOWEVER, if you were to get WoW now, and make level cap and learn the game a bit the next expansion (assuming it follows the same formula as the first one) should present a good opportunity for you to jump in.

FYI WoW should be about 40 bucks total for the expansion and game and 15$ a month.

Don't. Just don't.

If it's F2P, it's a generic Korean cookie-cutter grinder PoS.

If it's P2P, it's a generic cookie-cutter grinder PoS that you have to PAY for.

No offence, Korea.

Easiest is WoW. It won't mean you'll like other MMOs though, coz that game is uber-casual MMO-wise. If you wanna get into the guts of MMOs, Everquest II would be the way to go now.

Weed helps mellow you out enough to sit for seven hours grinding generic monsters for that next level up or shiny piece of gear that you need to get your next level up and shiny piece of gear.

World of Warcraft is a very good MMO. There is a reason why over 9 million people are subscribed to it. WoW is also a good one for people that are new to MMOs.

Oh, the "cool kids" i know play WoW too. And yeah, they turn into hermits (not the PC fanboys) after a while. MMOs take a lot of time out of you.

I recommend Guild Wars. There is no monthly fee, and a max level cap of 20, which you can get to quite quickly. If you hate it, it's only 20 wasted. If you like it, buy the expansions or move to World of Warcraft :)

Don't get started, they'll mess you up. But if you are serious, head to your local gamestop, you can usually pick up trials for a 1.99 for LoTR, Guild Wars, WoW. You can download EvE online...I don't know about City of Heroes, but that may be fun. From what I've heard about Final Fantasy, its pretty exclusive unless you are a needed class (i.e. healer) and there is a huge Japanese population which may cause language issues.

All in all, I'd say World of Warcraft is the easiest to get into, plus with patch 2.3 they made leveling 1-60 easier and made a lot of the party quests at that level soloable.

lol I just quit FFXI yesterday! I have achieve all the missions, ranking and have 4 level 75 Jobs (the cap level)

Is not as hard as you think to get into FFXI as a newbie. If you have friends that is playing already just play the same server and they can help you out! but if you ever want to have nice gears and $$$ in that game get ready to spend alot of times.

I'd highly reccomend Guild Wars if you're more interested in competetive online MMORPG's. It has no monthly fee, and it easily has the best graphics of any MMORPG of its kind. I'd also reccomend WoW if you want to engage in questing and stuff.

And to all of you who are talking about MMORPG's being a drug, in all seriousness, shut up. I average less than two hours a day on Guild Wars (and even WoW, when I was playing it a year back), and I didn't have a huge want to keep playing like some of you are saying (but it latches onto me, like all video games).

Some of you should get suspended for comparing drugs and marijuana to an MMO. It's just disgusting and wrong.

Okay, here's a quick rundown of the Guild Wars experience.

Guild Wars: No monthly fee, however, there are three stand-alone games that are campaigns to the Guild Wars MMO. The first one, titled Prophecies, is $30 USD. It includes 6 basic proffessions: Warrior (basic high-armor buff melee specialist), Elementalist (weilds fire, ice, earth, and air to kill enemies, pretty much a mage), Necromancer (createst zombies and uses death magic to kill foes), Mesmer (warps reality and causes severe hex spells at a fast rate), Ranger (archer guy with a pet), and Monk (The healer). The second campaign, Factions, is set in an Asian setting, and costs $40 USD. It includes all of the previous proffessions, as well as two new ones that are specific only to Factions: Assassin (a high-speed ninja-themed proffession bent on dealing large amounts of damage over time) and Ritualist (a dark priest that summons ghosts to fight for them). The third campaign, Nightfall, takes place in a kind of Africa-Persia setting costs $50 USD, and includes two proffessions specific only to Nightfall: Dervish (a scythe-weilding kind of hybrid of a warrior and monk meant to inflict lots of damage on lots of enemies and heal themselves.), and Paragon (a spear-weilding proffession that uses lots of chants to boost their team). If you're just getting into Guild Wars, I'd reccomend Nightfall, as the story is the best and the campaign is very fun. If you want to get more into PvP after NF, you might want to go with Factions next. I'd reccomend Prophecies, the original last only, because it's pretty slow-paced and kind of boring at times. These 3 campaigns DO NOT require any of the others to play; they're all stand-alone games but can be paired with each other to experience more Roleplaying options. After you're well enough experienced with Guild Wars, you should get Guild Wars; Eye of the North, which is an expansion and does not add any new proffessions, but only new content such as playable areas and skills. This expansion costs $40, which is a bit of a ripoff, IMO.
