That is actually, kinda...awesome.GTAIV made Niko permanently drunk if you pirated the game. Sad thing is, it did that to my boxed copy for a few months before I fixed it

Is it fun? I never dared to buy a Serious Sam game.Glad I bought this piece of ass-kickery!

Nice! I remember a few other games that had this form of anti-piracy. You can find the article about it on cracked.com :)Oil_rope_bombsI do remember Arma 2 turning players into a seagull.
[QUOTE="Am_Confucius"]That works.... Pirate a game and if you don't validate, a security code starts that literally ruins your game.....Smart.You do realize this is a from of DRM?
dreman999
I'm sure it'll be bypassed by someone. I mean, all DRM should work, but it always gets cracked. Since this thing would be shut off by the validation or whatever, I'm sure they'll just crack a validation in.
ive always thought that this sort of game protection was what devs should impliment into their games to prevent piracy, someone pirated mw3? good luck destroying that lime green tank, someone pirated saints row 3? why that seems like a very nice wave of infinite zombies from all sides, those games didnt do that, but it would have been awesome if they did

i do recall that bad company 2 did something along these lines with the controls, no matter what direction you tried to face the camera it would always end up facing straight up, and you could never point the camera back down, that unfortunately was circumvented thoughThat works.... Why just put on protection? You make it so that the player does no damage if they pirate the game put protection on that if it's cracked and so one. If the pirate fixes that, they control character loses, based on a hidden program ,it's arms and still can't attack. And if they fix that, then that, the character can't move and so on and so one. I think making the game be paralyzed if the game is pirated is a great Idea. Doing so with consoles would kill pirating over night on them.[QUOTE="Pug-Nasty"][QUOTE="dreman999"] That works.... Never underestimate people with not enough morals and too much time on their hands.Things like that are nothing new... no body remeber Iron ore being smelt in to Pigs in pirated Settler 3? ^^

My point is that, DRM like this is fun and funny, and it seems like devs would have a good time programming it. It won't really deter piracy, but no DRM really does, but at least they are having fun with a situation they can't really get out of.
As long as game files are stored on the user end, any DRM can and will be circumvented. The poeple who pirate aren't the people who crack games. Pirates are just broke gamers. Crackers are smart people who respond to challenge by working harder and harder until they figure it out. Basically, the more ironclad DRM seems, the harder these hackers will work to break it. They buy the game, but they crack it because they are too smart for their station in life. At least that's my theory.

The best IMO was batman AA having you flail about like an incompetent idiot trying to fly if you happened to be using the pirated version when gliding. :)
