Boy I tell ya, today video gaming consoles aren't like the ones we had yester-year. I mean I remember when I had the NES, I use to blow on the carteridge and hit on the side, just to get a game going. I remember having a Sega Genesis and accidently kicking it a few times. I also remember having a PS2 and letting it collect dust and I didn't even care to dust it off. But with the prices of todays' consoles, I treat my console so delicate. I mean I never used a duster in my life, but when it comes to these next-gen consoles, I'm like a maid dusting my consoleoff and around the tv and tv stand. And I always make sure to put away the controllers and stack the games neatly. So how about you, how well are you treating your next-gen consoles?

I take darn good care of my 360. It sits on two decks of cards to keep airflow going underneath and has a fan pointed on it. Hasn't broken on me yet, and hardly ever freezes. I do this less because of the money than because I don't want to deal with the headache of fixing/replacing it.

I haven't picked up the controller on my PS2 in a long time now... Its still used for DVDs though.

As for my PC... *hugs PC* I try to dust the top off every day/night and keep the desk clean... it doesn't really collect much dust inside so bleh.

the PS3 collects dust everywhere like you wouldn't believe, even in the card slots under the hood. I wipe dust off the face, top, sides, and back with my PSP cleaning cloth.

I treat my consoles like they were my children.

I don't have any Gen 7 consoles yet. But for my Gen 6 consoles, I vacuum the vents every week....to keep the dust from coming in. Other than that, my consoles just sit quietly and neatly without any clutter in the entertainment center.:D

I think it's more sadwhen I read about someone complaining that their 360 has broken 5 times. Besides, how much effort did that take me to set up?...about 2 seconds worth.

Meh, I do the same thing... And however "sad" it is that I had to go to the immense trouble of putting it on top of two books, I'm forced to do so to have good games to play since the other consoles are doing a piss-poor job of providing them.

Well that might be true, but I deal with it because 360 has what I want. To be fair though, no one said I have to do that, it might be just fine if I didn't.

Wouldn't "faulty hardware" imply that it doesn't work? My 360 works great.

yours does but what about the 5% of 360 users whos 360 dumped out on them. and I'm fairly positive that the fail rate is much higher since other surveys have come up with 15-22 have gone through at least one 360

5% failure rate... So 5% faulty, 95% work just fine? So about on par with the best selling, most popular console with the most AA/AAA games on a console ever, eh? Oh yeah, that's going to be a piece of garbage.

And I liked it that you weren't confident enough to add them as anything but a footnote of "other surveys." Really inspired my confidence in these sources of mystery whose sample groups offer clear and decisive evidence.

By the way, I just took another survey which has 360's with a 100% success rate. Wonderful how I can vaguely reference "other surveys" to support my point, eh?

Again, if a failure rate comparable to the most popular, arguably best console ever is your biggest complaint, I doubt MS is going to lose much sleep.

I agree. My fixed 360 already put a complete circle scratch on my Forza 2 disk, leaving parts of the game unreadable, so i switched it with my brothers a few days ago while he wasn't looking. I know, its a horrible and dishonest thing to do, but its not my fault the 360 isn't built properly.

I just make sure my 360 has room to breathe and it sits on a shelf. The PS2 and Gamecube sit on the floor. Sometimes I yell at them for having inferior graphics to the 360 and I explain why its up on the shelf and they aren't. Sometimes...late at night...I can hear them crying from the other room...

I'm sure you're aware the numbers are based on time of warranty which means that consoles outside of the warranty period are not counted and since the 360 notoriously broke just outside of the warranty period this would bring the failure much closer to 20%. And I'd like to see one report where the 360 has a 0% fail rate.

Not very well.My 360has never had an early night and this weekend it pulled an all nighter, had to feed it Red Bull to keep it going.

Apart from that, I look after my stuff and it seems to reward me by keeping on going. After years, I throw away a lot of stuff that still works.

I keep my 360 in an airtight room kept at exactly -15 degrees celius, it takes 3 hours to change games.

My PC andPS3are kept in a safety deposit box at my bank because I had to usethem as collateral to get a loan. If I lose them I lose my house and my car.

I keep all my Wiimotes tethered to a wall so that I can't throw them into my TV.

Ya, it is sad that I had to go to the immense trouble of putting the system down, and turning a fan towards it. All I got in return were the best games of this gen, and a savings of 200 dollars.

See, I treat all of my game consoles with respect, if I didn't, my Altari - Wii would be dead thanks to accidents. Already the Wii's sensor bad has a crack on it thanks to my brother but I guess life goes on.
