How will Halo overcome COD and BF?

With these two juggernauts releasing this year? Will Halo be able to stay relevant? With no sales metric, will MS count the number of plasma grenade sticks or sniper rifle headshots? But seriously, Halo hasn't been what it was since Halo 3. Can MS make it as relevant as it use to be?

That's probably why it's releasing in December. Also, Halo's multiplayer is F2P. It'll do just fine because of that. The campaign is on gamepass too so even if it was a massive success, we wouldn't know.

I’m sure Halo Infinite will do just fine. It doesn’t have to “beat” Call of Duty or Battlefield to stay relevant, it’s still plenty relevant to me and a lot of other gamers. As long as the game is a lot of fun for me to play then I’ll be very satisfied. 😁

I don't know about the popularity of Battlefield, But I doubt Halo will reach the player count or profit points that COD gets. Halo lost it's FPS Crown to COD over a decade ago, but that doesn't mean it can't be successful and profitable. The market is oversaturated with half a dozen FPS franchises now and they all still have a strong attachment rate and dedicated player base. Halo will still be popular, even if it's not as big as some of it's competition.

I had to look it up, but halo has been out longer than either of these two games. It has more history, it set the bar for fps games, and it will do really well, just wait and see.

Since Halo has been declining in popularity since 3 it is due for a rebound. If the game is great and has a stable launch I can see it happening.

It'll be fine on its own and besides, Game Pass+F2P is more then enough to not be concern for it.

If the multiplayer is actually good (which early indications point to), it'll do just fine.. there's already a community of Halo fans/players regardless of CoD and BF, plus Halo Infinite will be available on more platforms than ever before along with being easier to access than ever before..

There's certainly a formula for success here, they just need to deliver a good product..

I think Infinite came at the right time.

BF 2042 isn't looking too good and Cod has need declining for a while

Halo is definitely coming off it's huge decline and people seem genuinely excited about it.

I think CoD and Halo will be fine, not sure about BF2042 since the test was so broken

I don't think Halo can "beat" any popular multiplayer game right now, all it needs to do is be good and keep it's audience from playing other games like COD, Battlefield, and Fortnite. Or whatever flavor of the year game comes out.

I think the days of Halo being the number one mp game are over.

I dunno, but it is literally the thing that keeps me up at night.

BF 2042 will be an absolute mess at launch, and Vanguard is not the COD game that Coddites want.

i also doubt it will surpass CoD numbers.. but did anyone predict Fortnite would be the juggernaut it's become?.. post-Fortnite, did anyone predict Apex Legends would become a contender?..

I just think the market is extemely hard to predict so i wouldn't simply laugh off an established IP like Halo that's getting an incredibly favorable pre-release response to it's upcoming F2P multiplayer..

Battlefield 2042 will be on EA Play within months, that's included with Game Pass, Halo Infinite will be on Game Pass... Game Pass is the answer.

Though TBH I think it's time for the franchise to retire after Infinite.

@mrbojangles25: 343/MS stated this is kinda will be the very last Halo game. Most people think Halo 3 was going to be but that wasn't always the case, it was to end the Human-Covenant War itself. Infinite seems to be going all out so yeah, pretty much this is it.

All three are games known to have terrible multiplayer launches. They will all suck until well into next year.

Why are you so obsessed with sales? COD will sell millions and will likely suck. The zoomers eat that garbage up.

Halo will be F2P and better polished than BF, and more fun than CoD.

It's not there to compete, it's there to boost Gamepass subscriptions like any other MS games.

Halo multiplayer is FTP. So far, it seems to have positive feedback. It’s launching on PC and Xbox simultaneously. This is Halo unlike everyone before, so it stands to reason it’s gonna do just fine. Gamers are tired of Apex, Warzone, all that. Look at Splitgate. That thing is a train wreck and just because it’s “new” and free, people are playing it. People are hungry for a fresh quality FPS.
