The big rumor is that they bought the fatal frame IP, and they might buy more.
January 30, 2008 - Following Monster Hunter, the next series to make the big platform switch for the new generation is Tecmo's spooky Fatal Frame series. Tecmo held a press conference in Tokyo today to announce its upcoming lineup, and the biggest news was first details on the Wii version of Fatal Frame.
Titled in Japan "Rei: Tsukihami no Kamen," the new Fatal Frame game is a major collaborative effort for Tecmo. Nintendo will publish the game and is also lending its support on the development end. Key staff members include Keisuke Kikuchi as producer and Makoto Shibata as director, both veterans of the series. But joining Shibata in the director's cubicle is Grasshopper Manufacturer's Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51), who recently completed work on No More Heroes.
Although a two minute CG trailer was shown at the press conference, Tecmo kept the specifics to itself. Kikuchi did reveal that the key words for the game are "memory" and "moon," and "mask," and that the image color for the game is yellow. He also stated that he believes the Wiimote and the horror genre to be a perfect fit.
Nintendo exec Shinji Hatano was in attendance at the event and said "Nintendo will be handling sales, and we intend to actively promote [the game]." Hatano also confirmed a planned Japanese release for some time this Summer.
Interesting huh?
suck nintendo Wii..exactly 90% of the buyers are girls who doesn't know about hardcore gaming, an old geezer that want to play simple puzzle game with their family, a 7-12 years old kids that didn't know about gaming world at all, and lastly a freak nintendo fanboys that think their consoles will rules the world with it 's flawless graphic compared to the 360 or ps3...if u asked me....you deserve you own type of games....Azhar85
Like your hardcore? If you like graphics so muh buy a pc
Nex-Gen will definetly be very interesting for Nintendo. Will they continue to make simple less expensive console focused on the casual audience, or will they try to battle Sony and Microsoft with a powerful system?EVOLV3
Considering nintendo said they would be on par next gen it isnt a problem.

It amazes me how ignorant fanboys can be.
Why would Nintendo spend money on bribing Gamespot a small demographic when they could have spent that money to actually advertise the game on TV?
Seriously think before you say such things.
[QUOTE="Truth-slayer"]The same thing they did last gen and this gen....continue to rip off its consumers with an overpriced console and dummed down games.SkullboyXNintendo always has the CHEAPEST console. They are charging $250 for a system that costs $150 to make at launch. They are the only company to overprice the system from the very start.

No... No More Heroes was an incredibly unique game filled with style, an interesting storyline, and innovative game play that utilized the Wii Remote. 9 sounds like a good score for a game like that.
I can't wait to see what Nintendo has in store for us next generation. It should be exciting.

I felt like fighting stupidity with more stupidity.
It's funny how you jumped on me when I brought in NMH but remained quiet when Juice made his ridiculous comment.

they made profit from the GC and the N64, unlike sony/microsoft nintendo only makes games, they need profit somewhere.
Its not nintendo's fault sony/ms dont know how to manufacture at an effective cost.
You ignorance is funny.

Shipping, Wholesale, Retail, Legal fees
paying Toshiba for DVD format rights
paying Apple for USB port rights
Paying ATI for graphics card rights
paying IBM for processor contract
paying whoever owns SD card format
Nintendo HARDLY makes any of the hardware themselves. Add all of this to production cost.

Fighting stupidity with more stupidity is just even more stupid man.
Funny how I remained quiet when Juice made his ridiculous comment eh. Well sorry that BlackBond isn't omnipotent, all seeing and all knowing

Sometimes it's the only way to get into the mind of rabid fanboy, I could have said "oh more conspiracy theories" instead I took the ammo juice fired and totally flipped it around to show him that his argument could be used against himself.
Oh and apology accepted.

common guys I was being stupid, incendiery, and sarcastic. Im a sheep
Easy they won't. I mean they may spend some of it but very little.
It may sound stupid but that is the only reason why Nintendo is still around in the console race while SEGA, SNK, and Atari are all gone.
Why do you think Nintendo can easily compete with SONY and Microsoft?
Because they have billions of cash sitting in the bank.
In all honesty they need to start aquiring more devs, IPs, and studio's. I hate to say it but....Miyamoto isn't going to be around forever :(Blackbond
Very true. They need stronger dev support if they want to stick around.
On IGN Wii, Matt and Bozon had a podcast a few weeks back speculating on the next Nintendo system. And they were all pretty unanimous in the prediction that the new system will retain the "Wii" moniker. The Super-Wii? The Wii-2? WII?
Matt was the only one who predicted that Nintendos next system would have high-def. I dunno why Craig and Bozon thought otherwise. Makes no sense for them NOT to go HD. by 2009 HD will be the required standard for all television. So its GOT to be coming. Matt said that the Wii-2 would probly do 720p but he wasnt so sure about 1080i/p.
I agree with them as far as the machine's horsepower. It will probably be on par with today's PS3 in terms of graphical abilities. Nintendo's number 1 priority is keeping the system as affordable as possible. Keeping the low price range, with a nice profit cushion, is what Nintendo loves to do. As far as harddrives, are concerned, i dont remember what they said.
I mean, seriously, With power like that of the PS3, why would you need anything more??? How can anything be more powerful than the PS3 and really make a difference in graphical quality? ESPECIALLY, with the types of games Nintendo makes? All the horsepower of the PS3 would probably only be needed for photo-realistic graphics like Gran Turismo. But for Mario or Zelda, probably not.
The most important part of what they talked about though was how Nintendo would improve the controller. Theyre speculating that Nintendo would put some more sensitive instruments in there so that the controller would be able to accurately achieve 1:1 hand movements. SO yeah, good stuff all around.
continue making children's toys?ff7isnumbaone
Wait I thought Wii was for soccer moms and old geezers? Guess I was wrong
Maybe they'll keep making GOTY titles. Yeah they've been doing that a lot lately 8)
All consoles are toys by the way. Games are toys. Video GAMES are toys. They freaking sell them at Toys R Us man.
