PS3 - 7.5 out of 10
Had some cool exclusives, but not enough to keep
suffice a whole year. Still lacking some key variety
360 - 6 out of 10
Had even less exclusives, but made up for it with
Some interesting XBLA titles and features
Wii - 4 out of 10
Slow year for the platform. Most of it was anticipating
next year's releases
DS - 8out of 10
Had the most consistent line-up and variety
PSP - 7 out of 10
Cool new features in software and portability. Had a few
good titles but suffered from the usual console ports.
PC - 8.5 out of 10
Editor's Choice
Most variety, Superior multiplats.
After buying a 360 at launch and it breaking 8 months later. After buying another one 2 months later and it being in repair 4X now. After seeing many YLOD threads. After all the extra content you have to buy just to get the FULL game your payed for. After getting fed up with MS and paying for LIVE. After people having trouble time and time again with SONY and HDMI problems. After games going up to 60$ and consoles going up as much as 300$ over last gen.
Im pretty fed up with gaming. Been gaming since 1980 and have more consoles and games than most here have even heard of...Its heartbreaking to say the least for me. Its really something I think of daily as a true blue hard core gamer my whole life. I have almost lost my love for gaming and am not sure if im going to follow it after this gen.
Seems like playing on PC could avoid most of that. Don't give up anyway, gaming is still awesome :)After buying a 360 at launch and it breaking 8 months later. Wii 7/10- In general, there were no exciting release, but there were alot of fairly high quality games coming from it.
360 6/10- Not much ame from it this year, but what did come wasnt dissapointing.
PS3 7/10- Pretty much the same case the 360 suffered except it had a few more releases and a bit better scores.
DS 8/10- Simply put, a great year with great releases,
PSP 5/10- Nothing special here this year.
PS3: A
360: D
Wii: D+
Im not a sony fanboy btw by any means lol. I just think that this year Sony couldn't have done much better, But Microsoft and Nintendo, its like they both sat back and did nothing as they watched this year go by waiting for 2010 to come
Having owned all three consoles this generation (however the PS3 ever so briefly) its tough to seperate the wheat from the chaff because they are all outstanding for what they do.
Playstation 3 9/10: Really a spectacular machine. The PS3s potential far outpaced it's acheivment early on, but now it has a beefy library of games, a spectacular bluray player, and many other features that continue to get fleshed out every passing month.
Xbox 360 8/10: The only console that remains in my room, it offers perhaps the best online experience in gaming history and a stout lineup of videogames since launch. The library expands every year with blockbusters and the dashboard is pure ease of use.
Wii 6/10: A great complimentary console that is hindered by it's own prowess. Blockbuster games are few and far between and the online experience is to be desired. The ability to download classic nintendo games really adds, though,to the lackluster gaming library.
As far as the year goes, the rankings are the same, I will eventually probably have a PS3 again but the Wii is already on it's way out of the country.
