Then they better be out by 2011 at earliest! That would be a five year cycle for the Wii and PS3, and a six year cycle for the 360. Even though the last two generations were almost exactly like this, it still feels kind of short. I can't before we are at the midpoint right now.
I would not be happy. But I really can't see that happening anytime soon. It's hard to imagine them making consoles that are significantly more powerful than the current gen (other than Nintendo) and even if they do I highly doubt the difference would be worth the money. I think the next gen of consoles will be true 3D. I think this gen could go at least 8 years from the release of the 360, likely more.
to be honest the company that might reveal its next gen console the soonest even if its like 3-5 years down the road would be sony since they usually show things that are either tba or basically much further down the road.
I'd cuss, moan, whine, and post nasty things on here.... Then I'd start saving. I don't WANT another generation yet, and I don't think we need another batch of consoles anytime soon. But when they come, whenever that is, I'll want in.
Then I'll be glad because games will go down in price, but I definetly won't jump in with the next gen consoles, PC will be the way I'd go from then on...
I can only imagine MS would be the only one willing to lose enough money (they can't lose anymore credit with respect to faulty hardware) and I would just laugh to see the other companies (whoever it would be) scramble to get early versions of the design out. I only mention MS because they are the only one that seems like there's a remote possibility of that happening, and I mean like lost in the Sahara kind of remote.

o ya just like what happened with the ps2 :roll: The PS2 is what is called The Exception to the Rule. If a new console was announced for the next year to two years, I would be disappointed. The jump in technology would be greatly appreciated, but virtual obsoletion of several hundred dollars worth of hardware is never a welcome thing. I expect future consoles to have extensive backwards compatibility, which will soften the blow, but I still won't be ready for a new console for at least another 3 years.
If this gen won`t last for at least for 3-4 years, screw this, I`m joining the "superior" PC gamer`s race.

The difference is with consoles you play catch-up once every 5-10 years, while with a PC you are always playing catch-up. I'm not knocking PC gaming, it's my favorite platform... but the reality is that it ends up costing just as much, if not more, keeping a PC up to current standards.
Well I think it's a bit early yet, but the 360 and PS3 were announced about 4 years into the at-the-time current generation of consoles... so maybe they WILL announce the next-gen :o
