I think it's because Gaming is seen as this chick repellent or nerdy boys club...so it's a big deal when a girl (especially an attractive one) turns out to be a gamer.

Nobody wants to fight their girlfriend for the controller or try to pry her away from Modern Warfare.

Unless people just find gamer chicks 'sexy' but I don't see what's arousing about a girl playing WoW. Not like any girls walk around saying 'aw snap, look at that gamer guy'
