Would you guys be happy if say, Microsoft or Sony released a platform that had both positive attributes of PC and console gaming? Like, providing both keyboard mouse support along with the controller to play certain games. Also, having no DRM or any of that restricting bollocks? Providing digital downloads for those who want to play retro games? Will this end the platform war?
consoles will always be better because you can easily hook it up to a tv and play games in your living room with friends as opposed to by yourself in your room.

Eh, split-screen has dipped drastically this gen due to online.

Which is a shame, especially with the racing genre, I can't understand why some series didn't have it this gen.
I could see branded PC-based console, but key to success here is game exclusiveness and being locked (thats actully what makes console a console), other wise it's nothing more then yet another branded PC where theres ton of them already

Have you seen some of the PC games lately? They haven't been that good looking and erm...still use primitive technology...PC graphics haven't progressed at all to be fair.

I have seen bf3 and the witcher 2 and to be frank I wasn't impressed. I was more impressed from when I saw crysis 1...

Yeah but if you haven't noticed, PC is becoming more like a console and a console is becoming more like a PC...so it would make sense to mix the two together...
If choosing between a PC and console was difficult, yes; however I use my PC for school/design work and other things so it's much more versatile (which a lot of people like to ignore when crying about how expensive "gaming" is). It's a tough thing because I would like a more PC console but not a "crap PC" - so to speak. But for others who have to choose between console and PC I think it'd be good.
I think that explains modern consoles. Unlike last gen, today's consoles have significant online usage and gameplay built in, hard drives out of the box (except for the Xbox 360 arcade unit and Wii of course), patches and updates to software and games, and various other former PC exclusive features while still retaining the ease of use and hardware longevity consoles are known for. I can't see them changing it much more next gen except trying to go a little further in both directions I guess, which is hard to imagine.
