I am calling it now: FFXV on X1 will be vastly inferior to PS4

We can tell that FFXV is a technical showcase, but if the performance doesn't hold up, then it is all in vein. Considering how much time left before release and all the performance issues the game currently has on both consoles. I believe SE will put the majority of its resources into the PS4 version for couple of reasons:

- The PS4 version has actually the better chance of producing the graphical results SE is wishing for.

- We all know that at least 80% of copies will be sold on PS4.

- This is probably SE last chance to prove that FF brand isn't ruined for good, a single excellent game version is better than 2 screwed up versions.

Poor Xbone. Inb4 waiting for the 4k PC version.

This isn't exactly a bold prediction, every single playable build of the game so far has suffered majorly on the Xbox One.

• A PC version doesn't even exist yet, and by the looks of things, won't for a while
• Judging by the horrific quality of Square's PC ports? I wouldn't bet on it. I guess the modding community may salvage it, though.

No guarantee. Take it from a guy that played FFXIII on the PS3, 360 and PC(which sucked).

Ummm FF VI, FF 7 and FF 8 remake, XIII-2, Lightning Returns are quite solid on PC. FF IX , FF X/X-2 are on the way to PC anytime this year. Yeah, they messed up FF XIII in past , but don't think they messed up any FF titles on PC after that :)

FFXIII-2 on PC sucks bad too. I'll upload a clip for you if you want of it running at 14-20 fps.

And those other PS1 title should run flawlessly. lol

Well going by Digital Foundry the Xbox One version is better

The FF6 version uses the Android version (which is the worst version of a game with a lot of bad versions) as a base, Lightning Returns is actually supposed to be a very bad port, lacking some basic features, IX, X, and X-2 we can't judge because they're not actually out yet, and FF7 and FF8 on PC use the ancient 1998-99 PC versions as a base.

XIII-2 is the one and only good PC port for a Final Fantasy game yet, not counting the MMOs, and even that is supposed to be terribly optimized.

The XIII ports are'nt bad in their current state though.

The fact that we are considering barely playable ports as good is sad. lol at it being vastly superior to the console version.

ahhh, my steam freind ( also GS user) enjoyed XIII-2 , Lightning Returns only complaing about XIII. Will ask him about XIII -2 perfomance issues next time for sure. Thanks for the info :)

Didn't it require a whole lot of community intervention to get them to a state where they were at least playable?

Added a note afterwards pointing out that even 13-2 suffers from major optimization issues lol.

I only played FF 6, 7 , 8 on PC and i can vouch they pretty solid. I use my dual shock 3 + Motion Joy to get better response. Never played F XIII Trilogy on PC , but on PS 3. Heard from freinds XIII-2 and Lightining Returns are solid. only XIII crap of a port.

I beleive you. I'll hope FF XV does well on PC as Game Director saying they won't port it. I can only wish :)

@indzman: People think life as a PC gamer is perfect. It's not. We sometimes deal with this shit which is one of the few reason I can not fully commit to PC gaming along with AAA exclusives and the non existence of physical media.

XIII-2 on PC is very inconsistent; more so than even the console counterpart as it jump from 13fps to 60fps. Had to upload this trash on my commenting channel. I wish the FFXV port is good since I'd buy it again either way anyway like I did with the XIIIs.

The thing is, FF 6, 7, and 8 on PC are using 1998 PC ports and a shitty Android port of old PlayStation games and an SNES game respectively- of course they run without issues. The problem is that running solidly is literally all they do- nothing about these ports justifies their price, there is no support for even the most basic PC features.

Hopefully with 15, they do do it better, because yeah, they are apparently going to rebuild it around PC- that's great. It also means that the PC version isn't coming out any time soon, and any fan of the series is not going to want to wait even longer for a game that they have already waited ten years for.

Many PC ports are utter garbage , L:atest being Quantum Break or Arkham knight. Its true playing on PC with these crap of ports are not all good experience. Even Dark Souls 1 and 2 had FPS drop on PC ports.

Lets Hope and Wish FF XV turns out to be quite decent on PC as director promising it won't be just a port :)

@indzman: Well, Type 0 was decent. Not vastly superior but good actually. There's hope for a decent FFXV PC port but I wouldn't count on it.

Dark souls 2 is the latest game I have been playing, I had no frame drops through the whole game always 59\60.

I agree with this, every final fantasy game since X has sucked, what ever magic square had has long been lost.

I even think they will screw up the VII remake

I run FF XIII just fine at 4K.

Proof? My 980 ti on 1080 doesn't run FFXIII steadily. lol

FPS top left, lowest FPS is 30, it hit's 50-60 most of the time, but in battle it will just run at 30, i have since capped it to 30 for the experience to remain on par.

My GTX 580 is under utilized even at 4K, look at usage numbers.

Like with XIII-2 I could have easily took a shot when it is at it's max 60fps. That's just wrong.

If the GPU is not utilized as it shows in those shot's only at around 60% max, it's not going to go lower is it when the demand is a bit higher?

The reason you get worse FPS is because the 980Ti is doing nothing, you need to stop it downclocking in the driver by making it stay at it's 3D clock, but you only care about your 980Ti and penis measuring, instead of actually working around the issue. Our hardware is far too fast for this game.

So when my GPU sit's at 405mhz in 2D mode in Final Fantasy 7 on PC, it's because it is a bad port? LOL you must be some special kind of person.

Your GPU is not loaded enough to run at 3D clocks, it's in power save mode... has nothing to do with the games port, people are just too fast to point fingers, and are often the cry babies.

Oh dear God people need to get it out of their heads that the PS4 is so much more powerful than the X1. Look at most multiplats there's barely ANY difference, it's all so marginal. FFXV will be no different.

You may want to check your own link as a lot of people in it say this doesn't change anything and the game still runs like crap. Some people are even recommending editing files and installing old as shit drivers just so they can try and lock the game at a consistent 30fps. That reeks of a bad port to me

I actually played the X1 version and the FPS did drop a few times but it wasn't unplayable like so many would have you believe, the PS4 has the exact same performance problems. I don't know how you got so fanboyish.
