Switch is pretty much an after thought for someone like me who already owns Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One. I would say 80% of the library is full priced ports and remasters I will never buy or rebuy (although I did purchase MK8D for $48). I have enjoyed many of the new exclusives though such as Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Splatoon 2, Yoshi Crafted World and Fire Emblem Three Houses. Planning on getting the Links Awakening remake and Luigi’s Mansion 3 too.
I think this whole gen has been nothing but "port/remaster machines", even your precious PS4. Case in point:
I'm pretty sure everybody called it a port machine. The goalposts were promptly moved once the argument turned to ,"B-b-b-but nobody owned a Wii U anyway". Many laughs were had at the hypocrisy.
Porting games over from a failed console that hardly anyone played was more necessary and convenient for the Switch during the first couple years of its lifespan; and while ports do still come to the Switch, the console is now also pumping out its own library of games and the "port machine" critique has become less relevant and it will no longer have relevance for the rest of the Switch's lifespan.
Lots of great ports, lots of great exclusives.
It has an excellent line-up in general, and it's getting better and better every month.
*edit* Meanwhile, the best PS4 games of 2019 are...what, a few Yakuza ports, a Catherine remake, and a Resident Evil 2 remake?
I buy what I like whether it be a remaster, a port, an original, or a current gen game and I see a lot of all the above available for the Switch. Also it’s certainly not like there aren’t plenty of ports or remastered games on any of the other systems as well. I certainly don’t complain about those either.

Remember it's only bad if Nintendo does it.
@R4gn4r0k: dang man I came in here with this specific phrase in mind and you had to steal my thunder
That reminds me, why aren't Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, Windwaker HD, and Twilight Princess HD on Switch :P And while they're at it how about Link Between Worlds?

Don't forget Death Stranding...

Lol, seems that way... good ol' hypocrite cows at it again.
I guess they haven't got much to look forward to this year, so they go after the console that has a killer lineup. Lmao.
@R4gn4r0k:
Wait, really? Wasnt even aware that was happening. Why only #2?
Dunno the reason, but they are only remastering Commandos 2 (and Preatorians) for now.
I'll be getting it on PC :)
Wow so it was just announced and coming to every platform, even Mac. I dont put games on my computer but damn this is the first game to tempt me. I wonder how the controls will work on the tablet side of things. Ill watch the video later today. Still, shame they arent starting with the first one. I dont remember because they all blend together in my mind, maybe there were vast improvements in the sequel.
Maybe this is a sign of things to come in regards to older pc titles in general. Commandos is a true classic which most console gamers are probably completely unaware of.
I figure it couldn't hurt to re-release many Wii U games as not many had one. But I would have at least liked to see a Pikmin from Wii U on Switch.
I cannot relate. People that own PC/PS4 systems can enjoy the Switch for the things it does well and more or less ignore the things it sucks at.
I have simple Switch Rules that work for me:
1. Enjoy the best first party games period (My opinion of course) After all the Switch being weak sure is not making me Love Fire Emblem/Mario Maker 2 any less.
2. If indie (small/medium sized game where power does not really matter) I get it (Portal Knights/Terraria/Rouge Legacy etc.)
3. If AAA 3rd party overpriced game on Switch, don't get it as I can just get those on PC/Ps4 (Notable Exception for Dragon Quest as it will have all the extras that the PC/PS4 version just does not have. (I cannot wait to play the 2D version!)
4. Play my $20.00 online fee for bad online (not even sure why anyone would attempt to defend Nintendo's online) just so I can post amazing Mario Maker Levels (that is my thing).
5. Dismiss the haters because I play the Switch exclusively in handheld mode and no one else has that. (Something that actually makes the Switch a very powerful system)
Simple rules that make it VERY easy to LOVE my Switch! Wahoo!

I'm far more impressed that Sony does not have a strong exclusive lineup this year. It is very impressive that SW is basically dead because Sony has nothing interesting coming out this year. (there is that one game.....sure hope it does well.)

Every publisher have that one low year. But yeah if death stranding not performing well its a pretty bad year for sony. still have great multiplatform year though, sekiro was pretty great.

You are right that Sekiro was great. That is why I think Sony should acquire them. Seems like a great fit.

PS4 is in its last years of its life and it still got Days Gone, MLB The Show, MediEvil, Concrete Genie and Death Stranding.
