I am very very disappointed with GTA4...

So I finally got the chance to play it yesterday(have no next gen consoles yet) and I have to say this game is really overrated. I played it for 5 hrs yesteday and here are my arguments:

1. From all the reviews and hype, it sounded like they completely revamped it to make it a lot more immersive. Supposedly the pedestrians were supposed to be like real people. They are exactly the same as past GTAs! THey talk randomly like before with nothing good to say or anything.

2. The car controls are just completely weird. This isnt that much of an argument because I heard they just have to be goten used to, but they did piss me off a lot.

3. The physics are kinda weird. I have a love hate relationship with them. Sometimes they are just bloody cool but other times they are just ridicuouly weird.

4. The cutscenes are too bloody long. I mean they could condense them so much, theres too much dialogue and most of it is filler. I dont understand how MGS can get blasted for its cutscenes and not this.

5. I didnt like the radio stations much but thats just a personal opinion and doesnt matter too much.

6. The online isnt nearly as fun as it sounds. When I heard all the details about the online, I thought it would be the best online game ever. I mean cmon, Cops n Crooks sounded so damn cool along with everything else. In reality though, it isnt that fun. TDM is just ridiculously boring because the map is so big and you barely ever see anyone. Cops n Crooks is a bit better but still not as fun as it sounded. I think th eonline would be a lot better if you were restricted to certain areas and didnt have the whole map. Sometimes I went like 5 mins without seeing anyone.

Anyways, what I did like a lot was that:

1. They have made the graphics a lot lot better, this game is actually pretty impressive this time graphically.

2. I love the new combat system, the whole cover thing and all is really good.

Overall I would give it a 9/10. Good game, just not nearly as good as I thought it would be or as everyone hyped it to be.

I didnt say its a bad game man. When I do get a next gen console, it will be my first game. Im just saying that I thought it would be a lot better with it getting 10s everywhere including gamespot and ign.

The thing I was most dissapointed in was the online. I dunno, I just had really high expectations with what I read, it sounded so awesome. When I actually played it, it was pretty boring online.

When you title states that GTA4 is very very disappointing that means you think its a bad game. If you would have used more choice words like overrated instead of disappointing then I would have to tend to agree. No game ever deserves a perfect score. Its just no possible to have a perfect game. GTA4 is not perfect but it does a lot of things very well. I would habe still given this game a 9.5 just because I dont think a game should ever get a 10 because a game can always be better.

#1... this should be a review you write, in your review section. Not on System Wars...

#2... It is definately not allowed to say anything EVER about GTA4 unless you are in the stickies, because all I said was I like the game... and I got suspended for a day and lost points.

GTA IV is a masterpiece, and anyone complaining that the cutscenes are too long is someone who is missing the whole point of having a well-crafted, deep story.

As for the car controls, they are much more realistic than other GTA games. Seriously, in the older GTSa, going almost a hundred miles an hour and nailing a ninty degree corner with no slowing down using the handbreak was fun, but no where near realistic.

I have not been this engrossed in a game world since BioShock, and every time I play I find something else that makes me say "Wow" while playing GTA.

Most places, including GameSpot, don't consider a 10 "perfect" anymore. 10 just means a genre defining title that is heads and shoulders above the competition.

The game is overatted a TAD bit IMO(I would of given ita 9.5) and im 22 hours in,it dosent deserve he 10's its getting with such a lame MP.Gh0st_Of_0nyx

MP is a blast, IMO, but even so, GTA is not about the MP, and it should not be. The MP was an added bonus to add more legs to the game, and free play with some friends is an absolute riot, often literally.

That game deserves a 10 in my book. I wouldn't mind them rehashing that game for this gen. also. Hopefully they do. It's better out west. I spent a lot of time in the open range and gambling in Las Venturas. There is so much city in GTA IV it's kind of claustrophobic.

And the reviews are mis-leading, at least, in my opinion. Because GTA is touted on "there is just so much stuff you can do". Yes, there is a TON of stuff you can do. But there are only two things you really want to do: drive and kill.nyoroism

1. I found it to be a lot more immersive, but I didn't expect a huge realistic city, that's just not GTA, you should know that if you have played a GTA game.

4. Um..... I don't think there is a single cutscene that goes over a full minute..... They are all very short, and most of them are pretty good too.

5. I agree, I don't like them very much either, only one or two did I really enjoy.

6. You can, you know, make the map smaller to play on(like pick small sections to play on....)...... I found it pretty fun, I played for a couple hours with some friends and had a blast.

And a 9/10 is only 1 away from 10. It's not that big of a deal, and I personally thought it was better than that. But I don't see how you are that dissapointed with a 9 game....

Yeah dude, I was like wtf, Ive done all this before. All the previews and stuff were saying how much they have changed the game to make it more immersive and how everything is a lot better and realistic.... The stuff that has been included that is realistic has just ruined the game(driving, lack of weopens, no more fun stuff such as parachuting and jetpacks). All the stuff that sounded kinda cool like the police being a lot harder and real consequences for stealing car just werent there(oh cool, you hotwire for 3 secs now)

I actually take back the 9 and would give it an 8.5. I think that reviews have just become total BS now. Im not saying that the publishers necessarily pay off the sites but it is in the site's best interest to keep good ties with the developers and give good scores(more hits etc.)

I honestly think it sucks.
