The last one was 2d and 3d has well
ANd to me adding more side scrooling 2d platform gameplay is LAzy imo with the Power of wii they should of added like 3d jax and daxter style platform instead
I dont know it just feels like the same old same old stuff

your comparing the world movement of them, the gameplay is DIFFERENT, the first two were turn-based fighting, you know, where you strike, then ur enemy strikes, then you, etc. this is like the original marios with a twist.Â
Well, it's 2D and 3D in a different way. If you read some previews, you'll know what the difference is. As far as the 2D being lazy goes, it's not really lazy, that's just the style and charm of the game. If anything, making it like a 3D Jax and Daxter style platformer would make it MORE of the same. I thought you wanted less of the same? The last one was 2d and 3d has well

The game doesn't excite me in the slightest.
It looks like it'll be just another platformer.

Don't play it, then. That's my advice for all those who aren't excited about it. Don't try to make yourself like it just because other people do. But let those people have their fun, kay?

Unless you're talking in a different way.
Still, how does that make the game any more fun?

You don't turn from 2D to 3D at will, to solve puzzles in that game do you?
Does it have a strong storyline, or RPG element?
Â
You should watch some of the gameplay marathon... Â

Most of the Main IP Mario games have had different gameplay twists. Mario Galaxy is a great example. And the Super Paper Mario 2D to 3D twist is very different from the previous iterations. Are you sure you want something different?[QUOTE="topcatyo"][QUOTE="snakeofsolid"][QUOTE="topcatyo"]The game doesn't excite me in the slightest.

No you don't. You switch to a 3D view in specific areas of the level.
I still don't see how this is such a revolutionary or excitin mechanic.
I'm not being arrogant or anything, I'm just really underwhelmed.
I've played games with strong storylines before. But what's the storyline of this game?
I've played millions of games with RPG elements.

Puzzles require the player to traverse areas in different ways and with different perspectives. A simple-looking area can conceal an intricate route requiring the use of different characters and their abilities. Lots and lots of places to hide secrets.

it's not been done before, not like this. That's why it's revolutionary and excting to some.
I don't know the storyline. It's just that Paper Mario games are amazingly well writen. Just read the previews. It's got the editors here, who play tons of games excited for a reason...

Your right there was a joke section in TTYD where you play as bowser in a mario game. A mini game. Â

Gamespot has TTYD listed as a Role Playing game. Mini games inside a game don't change the nature of the main game.Â
Super Paper Mario is listed as a 3d Platformer.
 Â

If that makes PM:TTYD a sidescroller, FFVII must be a submarine combat game.
Â
FFIX, is a card battler. Â
I don't get the hype. I most likely won't get it, its just another Mario sidescroller.datretThat's like saying you won't get Halo because it's just another Master Chief FPS, or you won't get Metal Gear Solid 3, it's just another Solid Snake Stealth game. Um, dude Mario Side-scrollers are not only the cream of the crop among side-scrollers but they are also among the greatest games ever made. Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros 3, and Super Mario World can all be argued as the single greatest game ever, and every game in the Paper Mario series has been AAA at gamespot.
If people don't want to play a AA-AAA game, that's fine.
But don't blame the game if you don't like the genre, if you can even give one to SPM.
And don't feel the need to make a thread about it. There's lots of games I don't particularly want to try out, but I'm not making a thread dedicated to each one.Â
