I can see why MGS4 got the graphics award.

Look at it this way, Gamespot gave out two perfect 10s this summer. And its 2 top 'Best of' awards are for technical graphics and GotY.

If they gave Warhead the graphics award and GTA4 the GotY, Cows would be mooing 'bias for MS' so loudly the servers would crash.

If they now gave GotY to MGS4 there would be lem and herm riots outside the Gamespot offices, and possible antitrust investigations launched. Now thers nothin wrong with MGS4- a sneaker/shooter with a superb story and it gives great flexibility on how you deal with enemies but feels 'on rails' and 2/3s of it are cutscenes. And its replayable once or twice at most and then theres the pathetic tacked on multiplayer. Great SP game, but not Goty.,.,,,

They can't snub a game they gave a 10 to. So to keep everyone happy they gave the consolation prize (graphics) to the cows, and everyone gets the Goty 1st prize with GTAIV. Except for the Sheep, they still have Wiimusic and the sales game.

nice story you got there, but u ever think that maybe they just gave the game with the best graphics the graphics award. if your reasons were correct, then GS is not doing what it is supposed to do, that is, rating games without bias. why should gamespot have to bend to the will of the public. now i've never played mgs4, but if it does indeed have the top graphics, then it deserves the award no matter wat system it's onamigo767

I dont have a problem with MGS4 getting the graphics award. They put the most in graphics IMO....they had Hour cutscenes for Gods sake. They put alot of evidence out there for it to be judged. Other games didnt have no where near as much footage to judge. IIJuggaNottII

Oh yes there is. After you beat Raging Raven, you have a cutscene what he runs though the sewer and meets up with Liquid who has stolen a body and blew up a boat. Then they go on and on...they surround him, he blows up everybody and leaves while snakes face get burned. Then after that its a breifing....all together its around an hour. You cant play until you get past those cutscenes, or you skip it...sooo. Its around an hour if not longer.

Why should GS do anything because the public would be outraged if they didn't? It's not like politicians who we vote in, these are individuals with their own opinion and are allowed to do what they want. For whatever reason they thought MGS4 had the best visuals this year, we can disagree all we want but that's not gonna change their opinion. Me, I stopped taking GS seriously since the Ratchet and Clank review, I don't care what they score games now.mmirza23

Oh yes it is. Look...just play that game again...and time it. I was trying to beat that part before I went to work one day, and I was watching the clock the entire time...I left home a little late because I didnt think it was THAT long. It was around an hour if not longer. He goes back to his mom and shes hurt, he talks a while....she looks at the bike and says her little "I wont get off until I get knocked off or fall in love" part. Then they jump in a manhole while some bot is watching them. Then he sees Solid who whoops his behind and sticks a knife in his arm...then its the longest part when they have the stand off in the water where everyone gets pwned by Solid. Then they go to a breifing that lasts a while. C'mon...I guess you'll just have to play it again. It was that long.

Im glad someone payed attention to the length. It wasnt as if I did it just because, I just noticed it because I was going to work and I was going to leave late because of the long cutscene.

Crap boss fights

Crap storyline and they overused the nano machine concept

And that ending was crap as well

Those mission briefing were killing me. I switched over to ESPN on a couple of them, but I always watched the cutscenes after you beat a B&B because those stories were awesome.

Then Drebin would hit you up on the phone and he's instantly the writer of their Biography...lol. He knew their story, background and everything. But when you first met him he knew "nothing" about them besides that they wanted you Dead.

If they did, R&C:ToD wouldn't have got a 7.5 and Twilight Princess would've been AAA. They did it because they're people and they have their opinions. It seems like the majority of the disision about which games have the best technical graphics would be based on facts such as super high resolutions vs sub HD resolutions, which game had the highest polygon counts, which game have the clearest textures, and so on. Crysis beats MGS in all of those area's
