Scarface sucks, get over it.
Although I do have to question the statement that it's the "first GTA-Style sandbox game" when The Godfather was released not too long ago. I was just playing the Xbox version with a friend yesterday, and it was definately an open-world sandbox game.
Jeff's review credibility may be questionable indeed, but honestly, alot of the stuff that's out for Wii really isn't very good. At least the stuff I've played.
Did you ever think, he may have a different opinion on how games should be designed and play? I'm sure he is being honest with what he writes even if you don't agree with it. Darthmatt
That's the problem, a video-game review is still personal opinion. That's why I only go by at least two reviews, and I only take averaged scores.
Frankly, if more Wii fans read (and made buying decisions) based on Jeff's reviews, you'd have more games like Twilight Princess, Warioware, and Super Paper Mario, and fewer Mario Party, Scarface, Red Steel, et cetera titles. I wouldn't trust anyone who gave Scarface on the Wii above a 7.0, it's not an acceptable game, even for fans of the sandbox genre.
I'll be doing a post soon deconstructing the Wii where I'll get into a lot more detail, but to simplify, the Wii is limited in what it can and can't do - if you're a Wii gamer thinking you can get 360 / PS3 games just with downgraded visuals, you're completely missing that entire *genres* aren't possible on the Wii.
not that i personally care much about scarface - but Jeff is a hack. it's well known inside the industry - he reviews games about as well as his band hacks out songs :) we have a special name for him in the game world - but i'll keep that secret, i might get banned, hehe.
so yeah - for reviews go to gamerankings.com, or wait until Kotaku does their frankenreview... because GS does not take their reviewing seriously at all. and I know for a fact they purposely make them controversial to get more add revenue because you people come in to the forums to whine about it and argue about it day after day.
i think i've said too much, heh.... *hides*
Scarface sucks, deal with it. You want the reality? IGN and a lot of gaming magazines hand the Wii good review scores simply because they lose readers if they don't, Jeff has been honest with you about how badly some Wii game suck. That's it. He's doing you a favor by having the balls to tell you how he feels about those games, even if he knows it will piss off Wii readers, and that's the way it should be. Reviewers shouldn't "interpret the audience" or any other crap - their job is to say "look, this is a PS2 game with a Wiimote strapped to it."I'm in full agreement and look forward to you're personal critique.Frankly, if more Wii fans read (and made buying decisions) based on Jeff's reviews, you'd have more games like Twilight Princess, Warioware, and Super Paper Mario, and fewer Mario Party, Scarface, Red Steel, et cetera titles. This is exactly the point - yet *some* Wii fanboys were hyping Scarface Wii to be the end-all-be-all of sandbox gaming. Frankly, I think Nintendo fans need to get together and out the Jeff-hating, port-hyping, HD-bashing sect of Nintendo-ism, they're damaging the credibility of the rest of the Nintendo audience. Right now we've got the worst of the Nintendo fanboys making dozens of Jeff-bashing threads over frakly telling us all what we already knew - "PS2 ports suck". Nintendo fans themselves have already said it - Wii games need to be built from the ground up for the Wii - so then, why are so many Wii fans acting surprised that Jeff gave a PS2 port a low score? The issue isn't how good the Wii games are right now. The issue is that they are getting reviewed unfairly. If this is true now, when good games come out, like Metroid 3, they will still get a bad/average score because the review is biased.peter1191
The games on the Wii are not that great for the moment. Only games I really like is Paper Mario and Zelda. shogoh
The Godfather is actually a great Wii title as well.
Btw, Scarface does suck, but i dont care about his score. - i care about the reasons he gives.. their dumb.
