I'm going to say straight off, NO FANBOYS OR FLAMING. Please keep this peaceful, because I want solid advice from mature users, not people ruining my thread and acting like little kids. Thanks for understanding.

Anyways, finally getting the money for one of the consoles, I really can't make up my mind. The Xbox 360 has some nice exclusives to it, but I've played a couple of them on PC too, so that narrows the mega library of 360 games. The PS3 is really picking up lately with the realease of MGS4, and to say the least, it looks like a great game. The PS3 also has a few other nice games worth checking out too, and even if it lacks a bit, it has many of the great multiplats still. Both consoles should have even more games coming out too in the future.

Basically, I want the console that'll last be the longest time, and won't be gaining dust. I'd like to hear your opinions in an NON-BIASED way, thanks. I look forward to reading your replies and opinions.

You've answered your own question, if you've already played some of the high profile games of the 360 on the PC, well you should be looking the other way.

Right now the 360 is the best bet. No contest

but you may want to wait, the PS3 could feasibly get a lot better

Not all of them, but I do own Bioshock, CoD 4, and GoW on the PC.

If you decide to buy both consoles, wait until e3 and see what both companies announce. MS might drop the price and if they do, Sony will follow. They might even release different colored models. Btw, e3 begins on July 14th.

Hmm, that's a good idea too, in case there's great games coming out for one of the consoles that changes my mind after it's too late. I know PS3 is getting LBP, which looks great, and I'm not sure about the 360 besides Fable 2.

PS3, it sounds like you are playing most of the X360 games on your PC anyway. That's what I do. PC + PS3 offer the best combo this generation. Blu-ray, the free online, and everything else the PS3 does are just icing on the cake.

To me it's all down to the online and game pads (forgetting any reliability issues) if you want to just play for free, PS3, but XBL has a huge community, at a price. If you like a heavy pad, go for the 360 and if you prefer a smaller pad go for the PS3. Other than these reasons the two consoles are almost identical, except the exclusives, which there aren't that many of anyway.

Here's what is great about each console:

PS3:

- The hardware itself is sturdy, there's a small chance the system will give you any trouble.

- Has a really great line-up of exclusives. Resistance (1&2), LittleBigPlanet Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, Uncharted, and of course MGS4.

- The online is free! Things like Home and in-game XMB will make things a lot easier.

- A plethora of neat little features are hidden in the system, the interface flows much nicer then the 360's.

Xbox 360:

- Again, awesome exclusives. Halo 3, Gears (1&2), Crackdown, and Fable II all look great.

- Online is perfectly integrated with the system and software.

- Nice controller!

- The overall library of games is vast and produces many different kinds of genres.

All I can say is that I enjoy my PS3 more. MGS4 is the best game I have played - ever. The 360 is awesome but the hardware problems are beginning to bother me (I'm on my 3rd 360). I can't really choose for you, though...

Mmmm... I play a lot of different genres, but I'm going to have to go with games like The Witcher and Mass Effect (Action, adventure, rpg, something like that), and I like shooters too, but I'm getting sick of stuff like Call of Duty 4. MGS4 is the type of shooter that's great IMO. I want more to the game than just going online and killing people.

like already stated, if you play most 360 games on the PC then get the PS3. Or if you want to play those soon to be PC games sooner, then get the 360. 360 also has many other great titles not going to PC. I personally went with the PS3. But I chose the "Both are great" box. Because they are both great.

Both are great consoles but for different reasons. It's a fact that the 360 has more exclusive AAA and AA games. But the PS3 has arguably one of the greatest games ever created : MGS4. The 360 has a FAR better online system but it costs $50 a year. And the PS3 has Blu Ray. I would say get both, but if you had to choose get the 360 first. Now, if you are as big of an MGS fan as I am, and you own an HDTV you might want to get a PS3 first. All I know is that any self-respecting gamer should own both sooner or later.

If you have a PC I don't see why you'd even consider a 360. PS3 + PC gives you the largest variety of games. Research all you want it's true.

You've got your head in the right place. Only thinking about the games, that's a good thing.

Now, which games do you like more, and can you wait? Do you want to play Halo 3 or Metal Gear Solid 4? Fable 2 or Little Big Planet? Lost Odyssey or Final Fantasy XIII?

There are many more games, and all I can really tell you is look at the line-ups for each console and see what appeals to you most. GT5 or Forza 3? Too Human or God of War? Uncharted or Banjo? Etc, etc.

Fable will go to the PC just like the first one did, so will halo, and gears 2. I'd bet a large sum of money on that lol.

Not really. 360 has 10 AAE and 4 AAAE right now. PS3 has 5 titles above A that are exclusive. Thats about 1/3rd as many good exclusives. We could bring A games into this too, if you want.

The whole friends thing I understand, I'd want to be able to play with my friends too, but I think I'd still go with the PS3, xbox live fee, plus paying more for console games when you can get the better version for pc for cheaper. Don't you have any long time fav games? Finfal Fantasy, Gran Turismo, God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Team ICO games? Try to get the combo that'll let you play most of your fav games.

If your into games more than anything else. 360 no question about it. if you want more of a multimedia system.. then ps3. ps3 has blue ray, blue tooth, inbuilt wireless. and the actual console software is more flexible. For example you can copy movies from USB/disk to your HDD... which is not possible on the 360. Only problem is... lets be honest here... The consoles game catalogue is crap considering how long its been out.

I played a GameCube, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 and the most time was spent on the PS2, by a long shot. The GameCube had Zelda, Mario, SSBM, etc. but I could live without those games. The Xbox had Fable and KOTOR, which I both loved. The PlayStation 2 had loads of good games and series. Final Fantasy X is what got me into the whole RPG thing, and MGS 2 & 3 were a BLAST. Each system had their memorable games, that's for sure. I think I might lean towards the PS3, but I will pick up an Xbox 360 and Wii in the future, for sure. Only thing is, I won't be able to play with my friends online. It's quite a big deal, but the PS3 will make up for that with it's games.

It really depends on what you want out of the system. Both have great games, but I believe the 360 has a better selection. I also chose the 360 over the PS3 because it has a superior online setup.

Well if you're primarily a PC gamer 360's main feature, Live, isn't going to be anything new and you have to pay for it, but it's really the key experience for 360. In addition it's library is shared a lot with PC and PS3.

In my recent experience, I'd say PS3, the on-line infrastructure is still premature, but a lot of the basics are there and more is on the way with in-game XMB and trophies coming probably next month. And in terms of it's library it really has some unique exclusive games and all the multiplatform games you'll find on 360. Another big differentiator is the hardware, the PS3 is whisper quiet and keeps itself real cool, it feels like a real high quality piece of technology and is reliable, plus you get the benefits of Blu-Ray which is really nice, and you can't really say any of that for 360.

But with all of that said, you really can't go wrong with either one, you'll get a great gaming experience whichever way you go.

It really just depends if you want to be labelled as a cow or a lemming and I think everybody knows which one gets owned the most this gen so far and it ain't a lemming.

On a serious note, it just depends how much money are you willing to spend and how much time you are willing to spend playing video games. If you play video games alot and like going online and have a competitive spirit, then you should get a 360. If you're more of a casual and not really play games that much and even play online even less than get a PS3.

My answer would be, get both, but if I could only pick one right now, the 360 is the way to go. And knowing Sony's track record, they will most likely come out with another bundle better than the previous for cheap. Jump in, or Just wait.

Well I am a big-time gamer, but I still have other things like internet, finishing Persona 3 for the PS2, and PC games (and of course, daily life), so not all my time will be spent on the console even though I spend nearly my entire day playing video games or using the internet. I'd say 4 hours a day on average on the 360 or PS3, whichever I end up getting.

And if you want to enjoy a perfect 10 exclusive that everyone is clamoring about and a console that won't die on you repeatedly, there's always the PS3.

Most awsome 360 titles are also available on PC and Sony tends to support their console for a long time, so maybe a PS3.

I saw MGS4 a few days ago( other kid was playing) at first I was like "meh"( because 20 hour long cutscenes that made me sad), but then I was like "hell yeah", because the cutscene went from sad to happy.

If you want to get one for online( although you have a pC), I'd go with the 360 simply because of the community( although the service is better)
