I simply can't, it seems so laggy and slow. Bad Company 2 would be epic at 60fps, but at 30fps it is like watching a slide show. Third Person games don't have such an issue with 30fps, but I feel I lose so much accuracy in first person shooters.

BC2 does play at 60fps..... OHHHH you got it on a console, that was your mistake right there.I simply can't, it seems so laggy and slow. Then you need to buy a Gaming PC. I run Bad Company 2 at 60+ FPS.
Edit: After playing it again, appears I overestimated, heh, it's slightly above and around 60fps.
I think you can unlock the framerate of BC2 on PC. I also think most PC FPS's can run at 60 frames and beyond depending on the rig.

Hmm, I really cannot say much then. Unless a developer decides to add different settings for frame rate (I.E. Bioshock 2, sacrifice graphics to unlock framerate), then you are stuck with what you are given. I'm not trying to downplay anything however.
I know it sucks, but there is only so much that can be done. It is what it is.
Couldn't agree more. 30 fps is terrible for multiplayer shooters.I simply can't, it seems so laggy and slow. Bad Company 2 would be epic at 60fps, but at 30fps it is like watching a slide show. Considering the human eye struggles to pick up any changes above 30fps I find it unlikely you will find it that different.I simply can't, it seems so laggy and slow. I can quite easily tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps... above 60fps I agree, I don't notice anything, but 30 to 60 is huge!!I simply can't, it seems so laggy and slow. You can't watch movies either? They run at 24 FPS.
I think it's pedantic, it only matters if you're playing competitively. You can actually have fun with a game that runs at 30 FPS, god forbid.

Haven't we been through this already a million times? It's getting old guys. Like "PC gaming is dying" or "PS3 has no games" old. Stop it. Please?

The first quote is just horribly wrong, human eye can see way above 30fps and even if it couldn't it would still be a benefit because the game would be more responsive. Your quote is something people throw around as if that means anything above 24fps is pointless, there's a massive difference between watching a movie and playing a video game, you're actually controlling what is going on on screen so the delay/lag/inconsistencies/unresponsiveness is obvious, none of which you would encounter when watching a movie at 24fps.
It all depends on the game. Quake 3, UT, TF are all infinitely better at at least 60 FPS and I myself can't stand playing them at something less. Games like Battlefield or KZ2 are fine enough at 30 FPS because of their slower nature.

Movies are 24 FPS, but it has absolutely nothing to do with how games run. Movies are smoothed out because of the natural motion blur that occurs when filming, so they look alright with just 24 FPS. But games feel very clunky with only 30 FPS, because 1. There is no motion blur between the frames and 2. They are interactive, unlike movies. There is a huge, HUGE difference in how smooth the game feels when running at 60 FPS compared to 30 FPS. Or heck, if you're used to 120 FPS it's hard to go back since it's so smooth it's almost unreal.
The claim that "human eye can only see 30 FPS" is absolute and total bull. I can understand with some people being fine with 30 FPS, but claiming that you can't see above 24/30 FPS or that just because movies are 24 FPS games should be fine with that too is nothing but ignorance.
I believe that someone that is used to play at 30fps and never really played at higher fps than that think it´s great. However,I´m used to play my games around 60fps and when I play a console shooter with that framerate and lower resolutions makes me a bit dizzy.
That´s why I avoid almost every FPS on consoles.

I think i can run it 60+ FPS , what kind of rig you got ? I need to download FRAPS.

Only i didn't use that fact to suggest that playing above 24 fps was pointless. I just think that's quite an interesting comparison - 24 frames is visably smooth, it's only the slight unresponsiveness at 30 FPS that even comes close to hindering the expirence.
My point is, it's splitting hairs, and you can still very much enjoy a game at 30 FPS - this is coming from a hermit too.
[QUOTE="thetruespin"]Considering the human eye struggles to pick up any changes above 30fps I find it unlikely you will find it that different. tbh to most gamers the 30/60fps is negligable. And you are one of the worst hermits in a while...really i bet you wouldnt do this if you were on a main.
Ha, I used to have exactly the same problem The only FPS that I can play that runs at 30fps is Killzone2, and that is because they have got some clever blur going onI play Halo and then play COD and I honestly cant play Halo again for a few days. Its bad.

This is a stupid myth that really needs to stop being spread around. It is very noticeable in video games.
Now, is 30 fps unplayable? No..in fact it's great for most genres..however, it's far lower than I want in fast-paced genres. Optimum is 45-50 fps personally; I stop noticing improvements in smoothness around that point.
Where is that guy that claimed that there are few PC elitists, when I stated so in that IGN smug gamer thread?? I think this thread is a congregation of PC Elitists.II_Seraphim_II
Eh..I only see a couple posts like that.
Regardless, seeing as how you've been here a while..you should be well past the fact that there are fanboys here :?
lol it always make laugh when someone say that 30 fps is not good enough for a game, oh well sucks to be you
It's the game itself. Oblivion on the PC can be laggy at times even when running at 40-50 fps while Crysis at 25-35 fps was much smoother or at least much more playable. Not once did the framerates at their lowest affect my aim. Crysis is almost like a flight sim where 24 fps is okay. Most of the Battlefield series do take a crapper when the framerates go below 30 fps.

Well then you're obviously doing it wrong. 60FPS will never ever become the standard on consoles, it will always be the exception. Perhaps 1 in 15 games actually run at a higher framerate than 30.
Save up for a proper PC.
Well to summarize a few points in relation to a lot of other posts:
1) The human eye not being able to see over 30 FPS is crap, I find it incredibly obvious when a game is 60 fps vs 30 fps, that said
2) As long as the frame-rate is consistent, it doesn't matter at all, 30 is fine frame-rate, at least most of the time (like champ said, stuff like Bayonetta would lose some value at 30 fps)
3) Get it on PC.
4) The movie comparison doesn't really work anyways, a movie does not have to be 60 fps to be the smoothest it can be, its not really a proper comparison.
It all depends on the type of shooter. If a shooter is slow-paced (like Halo and BC2), 30 FPS is fine. If you're playing a fast-paced game (like COD, Quake, UT, and TF2), it requires at least 60 FPS in order to enjoy it.
don't play them then... problem solved. don't thank meI simply can't, it seems so laggy and slow. Bad Company 2 would be epic at 60fps, but at 30fps it is like watching a slide show. Third Person games don't have such an issue with 30fps, but I feel I lose so much accuracy in first person shooters.

The thread is still young...give them time. They have to alt tab out of their 20 instances of Crysis, it takes time :PPlease Log In to post.
