I made the decision, what the heck, i'm going to try it. Now I find out it's sold out everywhere. Gamestop is not even taking pre-orders anymore, not even for subsequent shipments. Does anyone know of anywhere that is still taking pre-orders of it? I am even willing to camp out for it but I don't know if any stores will have units available for those who didn't pre-order?

By the way, the reason I decided on purchasing it is because of Zelda. Don't want to miss out on the first open world Zelda. Also Charizard's thread with his first impressions really got me excited as well.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

MOD ABUSE:

Pre-orders opening in 2 hours. If it's anything like last time, they'll be gone within minutes. If you want it, make sure to pre-order it.

Just pop onto ebay where you will be able to pick one up for just twice the price.

I think keeping an eye out at Amazon & Best Buy for the next few weeks as they may release some cancelled Preorders back on the market may come up. That & going into a Gamestop or Best Buy & asking if they have any Preorders for their store still available for pickup.

Another route you could go is working with a user on here or another forum you may visit that perhaps have a couple of Switch Preordered as a precautionary to see if they would be willing to give you one of their Preorder or maybe someone that preordered it & now is on the fence & probably going to cancel their preorder & you just pay them directly instead of having them cancel it.

Or just wait a few weeks after launch when you can get one for half price when all the profiteers that gobbled up the pre-orders released it was just them that bought them :P

Call on the phone or stop by your local Walmart or Target and ask them when they go up for sale. Ask them if they are getting units that can be purchased that weren't pre-ordered.

What time you get there you'll have to decide for yourself. If they're getting 10 units for sale you might only have to get there an hour or so early. If they're getting 4 units and you really really want one, you might have to go right after work and wait around for 7 hours.

Gamestop almost always gets less units in than the big retailers do of Nintendo stuff- or atleast in my area.

Real talk- I would highly recommend playing the waiting game. See how the reception is. See if the units have flaws- are overheating, red light of death, etc. See if games keep getting announced for it after the first months of launch. It might take some time and effort to get one from a retailer if they're still sold out months from now, but it can be done. Your life won't be worse if you have to wait 6 months to play the new Zelda.

I called a ton of gamestops and bestbuys in my area and nothing. They all say the same thing, call one week before release to see if they will have additional consoles in the first shipment. I also signed up on Amazon to be notified when they get some in stock. I am not happy. :(

I don't know anyone on this or any other forums that have pre-orders. However, if anyone does please contact me.

@Xplode_games: I would not rely on Amazon.Com notification. 9 times out of 10 it doesn't send you a notification that they are back in stock.

I will def. keep an eye out for you on stock.

One of the benefits of this console is it's not region locked. So if you are really desperate for the console & not necessarily wanting it on release date but a few days after you can always order it from another region. Amazon France, for example, still looks to have preorders available.

Stores usually get some extra units for non pre-order sales although they are usually fairly low amounts, your best bet would be to ask around your Gamestops and Best Buys how many they're getting for non pre orders and camp out if you really want one. Some smaller "mom and pop" stores could also receive some units so you may want to check in with them as well

There might be a new wave of pre-orders at least once before March 3. Keep an eye, and try to walk in on launch day, some stores have extra units

as of now, you are late already. You will not be able to get it day one, your only chance would be either ebay, which I will strongly urge you to avoid, or to wait for the next batch to release

Just wait on it. Sign up for availability alerts from Amazon/Walmart/etc.

Whatever you do, don't support the people who sell guaranteed pre-orders on Ebay. However great, the Nintendo Switch is not worth $500.

It will most likely be in stock a few weeks after release if they don't refresh the pre-orders.

FYI Zelda has always been Open World.

but anyway, Nintendo has stated they're ramping up Production so You might be able to Pre-order again maybe in mid February, if not you should be able to get one at Launch.

If not you could probably find a Pre-Owned Wii U to play Breath of the Wild on.

I think drummerdave gave a great answer - it's not like it's a MP community-based game where picking it up a few months later can mean a worse experience. Tbh, buying anything Day 1 is rarely smart these days...

It's too late, I have my mind set on it. I want to play the new Zelda on day one from the new Nintendo Switch console. I know it may not be the smartest thing but I am already excited. I found Zelda for 20% off at Amazon!

When buying electronics overseas, know what voltage it uses as different parts of the world uses different standards (120v in US/Canada, 100v in Japan, 230/240v in UK, 220v in Continental Europe).

Not actually an issue. The Wii U I bought in the US (120v) worked fine in India (240v). As long as you have a plug adaptor, you really should be fine.

Whats up with first open world zelda? wasn't OOT already open world? in a 3rd enviroment? Sure its a bunch of hubs connected towards eachother, but so is skyrim on that regard.

Well if they can find suckers paying for it, then more power to them.

I wouldn't be shocked if these things are restocked day 2 already. Much like what they did with the 3DS.

If I were you, I'd play the long game and wait until there's a game you want. Of course, it's easier if you're waiting for Super Mario Odyssey.

don't worry, Nintendo always plays these artificial shortages thing to build hype

it's like clubs that make people wait in line to make it look like "oh damn that place is happening we should try it"

I'm thinking of cancelling Gray Joy-Con Switch pre-order if I can't secure a Neon Red/Blue Joy-Con Switch... but some part of me worries that the demand is real

I don't think these things will be that hard to find in the store on launch day. It's not Christmas season, and the odds of this being the sort of success the Wii was are fairly low. Worst case scenario, you have to wait a week or two.

Eh, not really. He could have decided to buy the Switch the day it was announced, and it would have been too late to get a preorder. Nintendo doesn't seem to be producing a lot of them.

@Xplode_games: Ive had good experience with Best Buy's notification system. Just one major thing...have notifications sent to your email and phone. Then they will text you.

Also have account set up and easy to login in on phone encase you have to purchase on your phone. That way can be quicker. It works best that way imo.

Another thing can do is tweet Nintendo of America at,

Make your voice heard and tell them you havnt been able to get one yet. Hopefully will encourage them to increase stock.

This is why I laugh at people who say "Oh I'll get one when so and so game comes out."

Good luck, friend. Good friggin luck. Luckily I woke up at 5am after the switch conference and saw gamestop had preorders available. Snatched up the neon red/blue without thinking twice. I knew they would be gone and they were..by 6 am all gone.

Thank buddha I woke up in time. With all the hype I couldn't stand being switch-less on march 3rd.
