Left 4 Dead is way too short, Valve what you playing at?  I'm sure its a different game every time you play but the scenario's and what you do are roughly the same so there are a few more zombies here and there but the game is the same where you go etc. I cant believe i paid £40 for this game i am hoping The DLC will come soon enough and not cost. But who am i kidding? 800 points :(

I've only played on 2 campaigns and I'm not even close to being bored of them yet. FFS nobody complained about Portal only being an hour long. Not like this.

Differences between portal and this: Portal didn't cost £40 pounds... It was a challenge you had to think. This you dont have to really

i completed it in 4 hrs (maybe a lil more) and i'm not a good gamer lol

Portal was not a challenge and hell it's not even worth the money when it's sold separately from TOB. Left 4 Dead manages to keep the experience completely fresh and it's a helluva lot of fun to play as the infected. It was worth every penny.

I've played it about 16 hours and already feel I got my moneys worth even if I never touched it again, tho I will. It's prolly not your everyday online shooter where you spend 100 hours whoring the same map and weapon, but compared to most games it still has pretty damn good replay value.

I actually completely agree with you. Considering that every single map is go from point A to B with NO other objectives to shake things up what so ever makes the chapters loose it's personality except for their environment. No personal attributes that makes the characters stand out more, only 4 playable special zombies, lack of weapons and on top of that the lenght makes me dissapointed in the game I've been looking forward to for over a year and half.

I mean Valve themselves has been on the lazy side. The only thing they've done since the release of Half Life 2 is creating 2 forgettable and extreamly brief episodes that somehow took years to develop even though they had the engine ready. They only bought the guys who made TF2, Portal and L4D and helped them out. They didn't come up with the idea.

I mean what were Valve doing during the delay of 1 year!? They weren't adding that many chapters and weapons, thats for sure.

Valve likes to take their time.

So does Blizzard. But they got Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft and Diablo 3 in their pipeline. Valve got Episode 3 which we don't even have any information on. And on top of that we will probably have to wait 3-5 years for Half-Life 3 to be released. Instead of making a bunch of useless episodes they could have made one game. HL 3 during that same time.

Actually it's 3 episodes. Episode 1, Episode 2 and Episode 3. Because they are brief and give us no real answers to any of the plot questions raised in Half-Life 2. It would have been ok if each episode took about a year to develop but, it's been quite more than that since they made HL2.

I'm not bored at all with the game. Factor in verses mode, where you play as the infected and the factI've played with different people everytime, this game is one of the best experiences so far this year. If DLC turns out to be more campaigns and more weapons, it will only be the icing on the cake.

If your playing it on 360, try for the acheivments, the one where you knock back a Hunter flying towards you and kill it before it lands is challenging. I only managed to complete it because I was ticked off while playing...

only hardcore Valve fans or gullible people will believe the hype. I don't care how much they spin it. its a short game and cost 40GBP. rip-off in my opinion. but a good game.

At least it's not boring like Half Life 2. And thank goodness for the lack of vehicle sections. Shooters and vehicle sections so rarely work.

I'm glad someone has acknowledged that Half-Life 2 is boring. I rented The Orange Box to see what the hype is about, I found the game utter boring. uninspiring enemies, you never see the face of the person you are using (if you want to see his face, you have to look at the box art), boring missions, etc. The only thing I liked about the game, is the music. Sector Sweep. I know I will get bashed for saying this.

Yes it is, even more so now that i got a computer mike just to play it with. Sure it kind limited with weapons and such, but it the only Zombie game out there that actually fun to keep playing over and over with friends. The AI director is meant to try to keep the game somewhat balance, it only increase or decrease the number of zombies, pills and health kits, weapons and ammo in the areas in how the players are holding up in the game. and what you mean it has no objected? In every movie, during the path to safety, you come across objects you have to active and there protect your self from hordes of zombies till that objected had done what it suppose to do to allow you to move on. And Last Stand part of the game at the last chapter of the game is very fun, holding up in a area and trying to stay alive till rescue comes is such a blast. sure it short, but there a lot of replayabilaty within each of them, and once they decide to add new weapons and maps, do you think it will be an rip off? Nope, you just are to yourself cause you are so fill with hate against everyone including your self

You won't get bashed from me... the Half Life series is as overrated as Halo. "But the 'never leave the hero's viewpoint' is so fresh and cool and realistic and involving... you feel like you're there!'" NO. I feel like I'm playing a game made by lazy people that don't want to elaborate on anything or actually attempt to make a viable story. Half Life 2 is LAZY story telling. If you disagree, then you don't know what good story-telling is, so you think the cheesy "I'm always in the main characters eyes, wow, so sweet! I also NEVER talk, completely unrealistic like!" is cool.

While the gameplay and levels might be repetitive, it has something most other games don't have: amazingly fun gameplay. I guess it depends on the kind of gamer you are. I still play Doom1/2 and Jedi Outcast often. Why? Because they nailed the satisfying feeling of mowing down baddies, even if they're not overly smart or varied.Add the random zombie placement from L4D, and you get pure gold for someone like me.

Left4Dead isn't out to win awards for its story, graphics, or campaign length. It's just trying to be a fun and addicting game, which it nails in my book. Best game ever? Not really, but it's well worth the purchase, and something you can jump into even if you only have a few minutes.

That because you have to play your Hugh depth story's, or ones made from books and such, and you hate anything Sci-Fi Haft life is perfect in every thing about it, except chapter one of Haft life 2 add on of coarse. and they whole not being able to talk part, it was the best feature of haft life :-)

Wow, let's make shallow assumptions about me with cliche'd insults to boot. Get over yourself. Half Life 2 was a solid game... but compared to the hype that surrounds it it absolutely sucks. Generic gunplay, generic "over your head sophisticated" story line that really isn't all it's cut out to be. This game is a lock in the good but overrated game series hall of fame along with Halo. God, some people defend this game like it's "virtual stock" is proportional to their income it's really really sad...

Not just picking at you but on forums in general, get over yourself has to be the most over used form of insult on the internet... Rant over thanks.

Well that was informative. Half Life sucks because it was hyped, and the view point is crap. Riiight.

I think you missed the whole point. It's not really the story that makes Half Life great (Although the original back in 98 would have been quite something), it's the gameplay mostly, with the excellent pace and the numerous puzzles in between frenzied fire fights. In Half Life 2 each chapter feels unique in some way. It's full of memorable little moments that tend to stick with you. The actual gameplay that involved shooting wasn't all that great on it's own (However the strider battles were awesome.), but when combined with various other elements it really just became a whole lot of fun. Incidently the idea behind Half Life's pespective is that it is meant to focus on other characters so as to get a greater feel for the drama, in this way the actual characters importance is reduced and the gamer can shift his intrest to the game world and it's inhabitants, making them feel more as if they are part of the game.

I don't really understand why people insist on trying to attack Half Life 2. Mabye they see it as some sort of challenge to try and take down one of the most popular video games ever made. Sure some may not like it, it's not for everyone, but alot of people just seem to be in denail that any one could possibly see this as a great game. Mabye it's some misinformed attempt to force themsleves against the norm. Half Life 2 may have it's flaws, but they are few and far between.

Get over yourself is far from the most overused insult on forums, especially gaming forums. How old are you? I mean this in the most honest way, because if you've been around and old enough to use the internet for ANY extender period of time, you'd realize there are SEVERAL MUCH more overused insults compared to "get over yourself" (which was a warranted insult for the situation there in all honesty). Noob might come to mind if you actually took the time to think before you posted... That's just considering gaming forums... get over yourself is actually a fairly old school insult nowaday lol.

i happen to think that hl2 is massively overrated. Especially the 3000 driving sections to make the game longer than 5 hours. Seriously, whats the point of getting in the vehicles then driving for 15 minutes, do a little shooting, then hop into another vehicle and drive another 15 minutes?

Because you are getting bombed by helicopters? As for Highway 17, it was more of a way of getting from point to point very quickly. It was somewhat pointless, but it did add a bit of variety. Besides, veichles only make up about half an hour of gameplay, and the game is about 10-12 hours long. It's not really a problem.

wow this turned to be a bit of a hl2 bashing thread.

I really did enjoy hl2...The episodes not so much i do feel we put these games on a pedestal though because of who makes them (developers like bungie and valve  are really over rated imo). i know its a amazing game to play online with your friends but to me that doesn't make up for

Lack of weapons

Lack of story

Lack of scenarios

Vs isnt THAT good, why is there no objectives?

for a game that took so long to produce you would expect more from them, 6 weapons  4 scenarios and no story just get from A to B it really doesn't deserve the 8.5 it got nor the £40 price tag it felt like what it started as just a mod and for that i just felt like it was lack luster :(

Vs isnt THAT good, why is there no objectives?

The objective is to win?

Or if you're a Boomer, your objective is to be hilariously annoying.

Being the tank is awesome. Screw throwing things at people. Do enjoy punching people 30 feet.

If you don't play online, I could see the dislike, as it is primarily a game made and designed for online play.

only hardcore Valve fans or gullible people will believe the hype. I don't care how much they spin it. its a short game and cost 40GBP. rip-off in my opinion. but a good game. MightyMuna
You can put me in the first catergory and knowing Valve we will see new campaigns shortly
