Wow, let's make shallow assumptions about me with cliche'd insults to boot. Get over yourself. Half Life 2 was a solid game... but compared to the hype that surrounds it it absolutely sucks. Generic gunplay, generic "over your head sophisticated" story line that really isn't all it's cut out to be. This game is a lock in the good but overrated game series hall of fame along with Halo. God, some people defend this game like it's "virtual stock" is proportional to their income it's really really sad...ScoopyMcScoop
Well that was informative. Half Life sucks because it was hyped, and the view point is crap. Riiight.
I think you missed the whole point. It's not really the story that makes Half Life great (Although the original back in 98 would have been quite something), it's the gameplay mostly, with the excellent pace and the numerous puzzles in between frenzied fire fights. In Half Life 2 each chapter feels unique in some way. It's full of memorable little moments that tend to stick with you. The actual gameplay that involved shooting wasn't all that great on it's own (However the strider battles were awesome.), but when combined with various other elements it really just became a whole lot of fun. Incidently the idea behind Half Life's pespective is that it is meant to focus on other characters so as to get a greater feel for the drama, in this way the actual characters importance is reduced and the gamer can shift his intrest to the game world and it's inhabitants, making them feel more as if they are part of the game.
I don't really understand why people insist on trying to attack Half Life 2. Mabye they see it as some sort of challenge to try and take down one of the most popular video games ever made. Sure some may not like it, it's not for everyone, but alot of people just seem to be in denail that any one could possibly see this as a great game. Mabye it's some misinformed attempt to force themsleves against the norm. Half Life 2 may have it's flaws, but they are few and far between.
