I didn't think it was up for debate that Sony are the bigger, more diverse company...?
Considering you are not sure of the difference of revenue and profit tells me I should not even bother but I will break it down pretty simpleLets take a 50 inch sony TV and a software box for MS like windows and see who ends up with more profit
Sony TV-(what does a weigh 40 pounds?) ok then put 8 TVs on one pallet and add up those costs for shipping(sea) and trucking and storage. Also all those costs for around 8 TVs.
MS windows- (weighs 1/2 pound) could fit at least 70-100 on a pallet. Now add in the same shipping charges and trucking but much more product the charges are much less=more profit
Now parts-Software only costs the box and CD after the program is developed but unlike a TV or Camera the parts will always cost a lot and Sony still has to pay for research also.
Software makes far more money then hardware. Those two examples are small in the end but they add into showing how your revenue means nothing.
Sony are still the LARGER company. I'm not talking about profit, but SIZE. Sony sells, and owns, much more subsidiaries, and are a much more diverse company than MS. They have their own film (Columbia) and music (Sony BMG) industry for example. That's why I included assets.
