I dont understand the hype!!

Right so i know halo 3 is a game with ALOT of hype....but i just dont get it. Given the first game was great with a gr8 storyline etc, but to me the MP is average at best:? TO me its an arcade shooter but i dont understand why have a million people on my FL on XBL msgn me saying..."are you getting halo 3" or "haloooooooooo wooooohoooooo", ??

I loved the first halo it was revolutionary in terms of what you could do in the MP and the single player was a blast also, but now to me its like....give it up already, the game has been surpassed already with other titles , Not just on the 360 but PC games had alrady had half life and a whole heap of other great games that halo couldnt even touch with a barge pole.

Im trying not to bash this game because i know its loved by many, but seriously.....what the hell is it with halo 3 that is so appealing....aside from "finishing the fight" :?

Is it the air combat/weirdish weapons...because imho its sure as hell not the gameplay in MP...its run and gun and quite frankly i can only see it appealing to a younger audience....

I was thinking about getting it, but ...tbh i dont know why i want it!! :lol:.....:? Am i being hyped into getting this? I played the beta and played it once becausethe whole "noneed for tactics...just shoot" thing annoyed me,and shoved gears back in.

Exactly, if you are not hyped for something yourself, you never will understand.

I don't know why people were hyped and queued up and camped out for the new i-phone, I have a mobile phone, seems stupid to be hyped about just another one.

Its easy to pick up and play with very good controls and interesting weapons.The multiplayer can be very competative and there multiplayer setup is far above anything else thats on the market.Not to mension a lot of people love the story and the characters.Its hyped for a very good reason,a lot of people love the game.I understand not everyone loves the game but then again not everyone loves smash bros,metal gear,final fantasy or ninja gaided.All of those are popular games but it doesnt mean everyone will enjoy them.Im not saying those games are trash by any means im just making a point.What i dont understand is why people seem to be so frustrated as to why so many people like something.If your not interested in halo than dont buy it.Just let it go dude,play something u enjoy and let the rest of us do the same.

Meh, I never really understood the draw of the title. Of course I'm not a big FPS fan. I played the first 2 a little but just did not get into them.

However, VIVA HALO :) I'm so glad this game is doing so well. I literally have people I have not seen in 2 years finally jumping on 360 (people I played with on orig Xbox).

I looked on VGchartz yesterday and 360 actually almost caught theWii for the week before Halo. 360 with 88,000, Wii with 92,000 (I think). PS3 way down at the 30,000 area.

Now some people don't care about sales, but as a gamer, I care very much. The bigger the installed base there is for 360, the more games and more games of variety will come out. The bigger the install base grows, the more chance for big name multiplatsand niche titles as well.

I was with you until the accusation of being frustrated...nooones frustrated about it buddy, my main quarm was WHY its so hyped. If you understood my post you would see that its not that im not interested, i clearly expressed i understood the SP was great etc, its the MP portion that got me...the first was great the second was ok...now its just more of the same....to me. No game i can remember has been hyped THIS much so to compare it to ninja gaiden is a bit silly to me. Its the excessive hype i cant understand.

I already said im not trying to bash the game so those that are getting on the defensive....chill bill. Well, people are going to go crazy over UT III and that's basically just a run & gun game as well, with no real story included. I don't really see the big deal with this game, but PC gamers are hyping it like crazy, alone with Crysis. I think one of the big hype of Halo 3 is playing it online with friends from all over the world. Being able to play co-op is a big deal for console gamers. The fact that so many people love this game should tell you something. The reviews don't lie.

Im not mad at ya homie but this thread is annoying.When u see a thread like this pop up daily it just tells me that your not a fan of halo and your a uber fan of another console.I understand that not everyone likes halo,or even the 360 and thats fine.U just come off the same way all these other nuts do,like u have some sort of agenda.I understand that ninja gaiden isnt as hyped up and halo,all i was saying is that its a very popular series as well but not everyone likes it.Dude u know why u created this thread and personally i find this type of mentality over a video game to be kind of nutty.I know u wont admit why u made this thread but what u should do is look at yourself in the mirror and say were is my life going when i feel like this stuff is that important to me that i have to go on a messege board and try to turn people around on some game.

The truth is Halo is one of the best console FPS ever, but people like me who have played a plethera of FPS on both console and PC might be underwhelmed by it. I bought Halo 3 and its solid all around... Though, thats really all. It doesn't excell in any particular area(especially SP) and the multiplayer fails to impress me.

I guess one specific reason the multiplayer feels absolutely archaic is the lack of classes. You have 16 players that are all the same rushing spawn points for weapons in death match style despite the game mode, a bit old school for me.

Bottom line, Halo is the best FPS franchise on consoles, but most jaded/veteran FPS fans will most likely not be overly impressed... Then again, I could be wrong. Thats just how I feel.

Well, thats kinda my point. Its fun, yet in your opinion it doesn't stand up to other and especially older FPS. Its not revolutionary to me, but is for a lot of people. Its all about a reference point. Some day, people that grew up with Halo will argue how awesome Halo was and what it did for the FPS genre while a newer generation will scoff and write them off.

Did you get into the story at all? - Halo is special for many gamers because its what made a lot of them who were casuals become more serious about gaming, such as myself.

Im starting to wonder if you were interested in the story or not.... sure you played the first one, but did you play halo 2? - anyone who played Halo 2 campaign no matter how rubbish the game was will still buy this to see how it ends, you seem to be confused about buying halo 3, so Im wondering if you played H2 at all.

I never liked FPS based games, they were not my sort of thing .... after trying out the halo games and enjoying them soo much I tried other FPS games such as the highly praised "half-life" - ... and you know what?? I didnt enjoy it one bit lol - dont get me wrong its got great physics/gfx etc ... but it just did not capture me the way halo does with its atmosphere/cinematics/and musical score.

Whether you like the halo hype or not look at it this way, its fantastic what MS is doing ... making gaming more mainstream.. so many non gamers are all talking about "whats this halo" .... surely its a good thing for the industry!

Whoever said "why dont you play it", can you read my posts or not? Does it not say i played the BETA..yes thought it did.

Why do people get so uppity about this? :lol: I dont see anywhere where i critisied the game without justifying why, so instead of going on a defensive tangent and hugging your halo 3 cd's, why not try to answer the questions? I'm just as much a pc gamer as a console gamer and i disagree, iv played through about 3/4 of halo 3 SP and i think its great. a big improvement over halo/halo2 and is right up there with the best pc and console FPS.

your the minority face it. The character design in halo is the best of any first person shooter... Ill take the great look of the spartans over the comic book looking characters out of Team fortress... yuck. I have to enjoy the art style of the game im playing. Name one other good FPS with 4 player coop and split screen?

Halo 3 campaign was awsome some of the best level design out there (exceot that cortana level :evil: ) and the gameplay is top nouch. then the MP just makes the game god like. The halo storyline has now been finished and I have to say it was amazing. beter than any other fps story line EVER CREATED. :D that why I love it.amorbis1001

Enjoy it, because it's the last one and the last game on the 360 that will do better than PS3's big exclusives.
