It looks interesting, but I doubt that many people will play it for more than a few afternoons.
Like Garrysmod - it's an entertaining novelty, but sooner or later you're going to want to play a real game.
Creativity: I'm not sure about many but it looks refreshing and original, not to mention it gives me that feeling Sims has always gave me. I never really care about how my Sims interacted, to be honest. I cared on building homes, creating visions, and having individuals I created into these complexes to which I could enhance on as a I went. The ability to create and function with real time physics is a huge step up for this. I'm not making houses, I'm making an environment to where I can play.
Appeal:The entire outlook is fun, happy, and inspiring to work and build. To put it simply, it's how teachers decorate their rooms when you were a child to put you in a creative enviroment to expand towards making a constructive character. The Sack Boys are a basic design that can end up being anything to everything. Like a canvas that is free to open exchange your thoughts and personality. In essence, it's an interactive art but not aspiring to be considered art.
Interactivity & Play: The game seems like it won't lack content. Aside from more than possible DLC for LBP in the future, patterns and visuals can continue to be added with whatever photo media you have available. Suffice to say, I think that's awesome. Not to mention the ability to play with friends, who they will also have their own unique levels and Sack Boys, gives it great replay value whenever you feel like having a good time. I see it branching to where one person may say, "Hey, let's put this here and make it look like this! Now, let's see what it does" and only leading to some really refreshing good times.
In other words, it looks fun. Really, great simple fun. A final point, it's different and a nice break from a bit of the tedium we see nowadays.
i dont think it is just a level editor, that is just a main mode. i think they said they would have enemies and bosses too or something like that in the main game. its a very creative gameI understand the game looks fun, and i know you guys want to play with it.
But...isnt it just a level editor? Go buy Unreal Tournament 99 for the pc (costs $5) and use its level editor.

[QUOTE="the-very-best"]Guess it ain't your type of game. I think it looks fun. My main concern is that it will lack depth.farrell2k
Of corse it will lack depth. What PS3 games have ever not lacked depth? It's a silly, boring looking child's game geared toward casuals and prepubescents. It's sony's pathetic attempt at capturing casuals.
the above post is why i rarely come to system wars anymore, the ignorance here is mindblowing. and i believe that pathetic attempt at grabbing casuals that you are talking about is SCENE IT![QUOTE="Mandingo101"][QUOTE="Cali3350"]i dont think it is just a level editor, that is just a main mode. i think they said they would have enemies and bosses too or something like that in the main game. its a very creative gameI understand the game looks fun, and i know you guys want to play with it.

If you're in kindergarten, you'll loe it! At least scene-it is intellectually challengin, and NOT geared toward 5 year olds.
You know, theres a reason Pixar movies are so popular on college campuses, When you really grow up, you dont care how things look, you enjoy them for what they are :|
the game probably appeals to the creative nature within individuals.
seeing as how the right side of my brain has been pathetic my whole life, i wont have fun with this game because you get out of LBP what you put into. Im probably the least creative person on earth.
It's a creative game where you can create levels and share them with other players, similar to Youtube.Plus, it's rare to see these kind of games.

College campuses are FILLED with adolescents, and some adults who are fortunate enough to still be mostly shielded from reality. How many grown adults riddled with real-life issues do you think you'd find in a theatre watching disney/pixar movies WITHOUT their prepubescent baggage in tow? I'll give you a hint: not many, and those who do are probably mentally unstable in some way.
I don't know what you think reality is or what the world is outside of your own door but I know many adults like myself in the real world that enjoy disney/pixar movies if they are decent and thats without kids in tow. The fact you believe everyone in the world is mentally unstable if there an adult watching childrens cartoons or animated movies is rather pitiful, my 80 year old grandad watchs cartoons and he worked on a farm all his life and built several businesses from the ground up in the south island of new zealand.
If you enjoy something no matter the age restriction on it shouldn't you be allowed to enjoy it? I sure as hell know I enjoy games like mario or viva pinata even if they are kids games by standards around here.
And last I checked when I went through university (only a few years ago now) over three quaters of the people have 5-6 hour jobs after they've finished a 7am to 4-5pm day at university just to pay for rent, food an little else. I don't know what kind of bs reality you live in mate but not everyone that goes to university can actually afford to be there off other peoples backs, in the real world mate thats called life.
The fact you believe people in university don't have actual problems themselves in life is funny as hell.
cows smell a bit of innovation and jump at itakif22
So? Is that bad? last i heard, innovation was good. And to TC, people hype games for different reasons because we have different tastes. Some people cant understand why Halo is hyped to high heaven, but alas...people seem to like it. And some people love the creativity and light hearted nature of LBP. It may not be for you, but the majority of the gaming press seems to be equally as hyped about it. The question really is "Why are you and lemmings not hyped about LBP?"

I was thinking the same thing. I would hope cows like innovation, along with everyone else.
You're right! It should be another game that sells sex and violence to try and look intense, and not differentiate itself from the other 500 games out there just like it. Why would anyone want an original game, when they could have the seventh GTA game, the 3rd Halo game, the 4th Call of Duty game, or the 13th Final Fantasy game? God forbid the industry tries to innovate and create something new. I much prefer it when i get force fed increasingly ad-filled rehashes of the exact same game over and over again.
No wonder the game industry is floundering in generic games. I hope another 83 crash happens just to clear out all the muck from the industry's creative engines and put us back into the golden age of gaming that was six years ago. Today it's like being a gourmet and only getting to eat french fries. Sure, french fries are good, but they aren't all i want to eat. I want lots of different kinds of food.
So people, if you want different kinds of games, buy different kinds of games. Buy LBP, buy flOw, buy Everyday Shooter, but Geometry Wars, buy Uncharted (unequalled for story presentation, amazing voice acting and cutscenes), and stop buying ten copies of the same game with a different name.

Wow, what a great way to stereotype anybody who enjoys artistically-rich and multi-layered jokes and stories presented by most Pixar flicks.
If anything those intolerant of "teh kiddie games" are the immature teenagers who look to emulate what they think adults like; i.e., all violence, sex, and gore. Actually being mature means to look deeper and enjoy both the richness of complex themes ("mature content") as well as the beauty of simplicity.
In short, I find it sad that you're not able to enjoy a film or game just because it looks childish.
It is just a level editor it is nothing new. There is already console games with that already and they have a game to go along with it. Heck PC has been doing that for years. If this game was multiplat then no one would even talk about it.Eltroz
little big planet issss something new
Wow. Putting this game down will only expose your ignorance.
Its highly imaginative. Colorful. You just feel good watching the videos. The online co-op play looks really fun. The level design is going to be truly unique. Its creative with just a smidge of innovation on the side. It allows YOU to be creative and provides plenty of tools to make it happen.
What's NOT to love about this game?
Unless you wanna blindly hate. This is the kind of game gamers should always support. If you own a Wii and you put this game down, SHAME ON YOU. Because your a hypocrite and a liar. You seek innovation and yet put down LBP?

I bet if it was on the wii, you would be calling it kiddy.
The majority of you are telling me it allows the freedom of creativeity to flow. Thats great. How is it different from any other level editor out there in the last 10 years though?Cali3350
That's like saying how Halo or Crysis is different from any other shooter for the past x years or how SMG is different from any other platformer of past.
The difference is in execution.
