As you know with the Gamecube, it had many great quality games, the cheapest price, and nice accessibilty. It had a great launch with Factor 5's Rogue Squadron, and was on par with the current consoles at that time and it looked better than the 64 editions with better gameplay.

Plus it started out great with getting nice third party support, dont believe me check out the support by EA, Ubisoft, Activision, LucasArts, THQ, Capcometc.

The thing also got nice sports games as well. Just look how bad Live 08is on Wii. Not to mention the great 1st party games as usual.

Now it is behind in sales.

Now the Wii comes out and uses a big name game which was actually a GC game, Twilight Princess to push sales. There was no notably difference in terms of graphics. Isn't that what jumping into next-gen all about?

Now the Wii sales are skyrocket high but yet it is not getting the same quality games as the GC and thriving off PS2/GCN ports, casual games, minigames, etc.

The Cube tried to sell with great quality games and believe me there were so many of them and 3rd parties really did care about putting alot of multiplats on that system that scored well across gaming sites. We get more 3rd party games for the Wii but yet they are not quality games.

My question is how could the GC sell so low with so many quality games and the Wii sell so rapidly and high with games not reflecting quality?

I don't get it honestly. In my perspective the GC should have sold more and it was everything you could have in a next-gen console after the 64. The Wii should be selling alot worse than it is because the quality games are not there and the jump from GC era is hardly noticable.

If you say it is the VC, then I can say the Cube can play all Game Boy Advance games, with the GBA adapter.

Very sad and confusing.

Despite what people think, good games don't sell systems. Casual appeal does.

Because the gaming industry was stagnating, and people started to want something different from the same old gameplay mechanics repeated ad nauseam over the last thirteen years.

Enter the Wii.

well it only goes to show that the wii is benefitting from mass casual support.

Not that difficult to understand.

Their advertising, over-exaggerating the Wii-mote. You wouldn't believe how many people fall for it.

The GC ran into the juggernaut of the PS2.

It's just like no team could beat the Bulls of the 90's because of Michael Jordan. Doesn't mean that they weren't good, but the other was great.

Most people think the Wiimote is going to be better than the second coming of Jesus. I don't know if it lived up to their expectations though, but that doesn't matter in terms of the sales.

Well, if anything, GameCubes failure is what made the Wii a reality. What most people seems to missuderstand about the Wii is that it really really REALLY wasnt ment to take on the same audiense as the previous and even current consoles.

The preview for this is the DS. I believe someone at Nintendo stated that of the DS made it they will rise to heaven and if it didnt they will fall to hell... or something like that. What they did is break out of the muscle race and opted to go with creativity, innovation and fun. They didnt make the Wii for people to be amazed by its looks or its hardware, they made it so that people could have fun playing it.

For most "gamers" this is hard to understand because, simply said, the Wii wasnt made with them in mind 100%. But the fact that making all the "right" moves with the GameCube didnt make it for them, luckly they had the GBA. They knew that Sony was going in to the hand held market and had they done an improved GBA they would have lost that market a long time ago. But they made the DS and they kept the hand held market and put some wind on the Wii, wich is taking the console market by storm.

Nintendo already won this gen, no matter what any fanboy says. After the GameCube everyone lost hope on the big N, now look at them. Mario is back.

Why didn't people fall for the Cube? Oh look we got the Resident Evils, and the big 4th one, Eternal Darkness, Blood Omen, Prince of Persia, the sports games, the Need for Speeds, the 007s, SSX, the great Tony Hawk games, and so many more.

Guess what, all these games were quality games. Why ignore them?

Wii comes out with Wii play, Wii fit, brain age, wii sports, and so many sub par quality games but it sells like hotcakes.

Give me a break so are you saying crap sells? PS2 had the most crap last gen(althought the AAA's were outstanding), yet it sells?

To the people saying people were tired of the same old gameplay setup with a traditional controller, then the PS2 would have not sold that well if they were tired of it.

No, most people think the Wiimote will be DIFFERENT. That's it. People want one out of two things out of gaming: affordability or innovation. The Wii happens to have both, while the 360 and PS3 happen to have none.

For those saying price, the GC was by far the cheapest and got its price cut faster than the others.

I have no other choice to feelthat many Nintendo fans purposely lowered their standards just to see Nintendo sell the most this time around.

Mm... The PS3 is $400/500 now, the 360 is $280/350/430/500 now and the Wii is $250. The price gap isn't that huge at all.

The reason I said many Nintendo fans have lowered their standards because they did not buy quality games for the Cube but yet are buying subpar quality games for the Wii and going crazy about it.

Ok for Cube, would you take Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Fight Night 2, Gun, Madden, Live, Everything or Nothing, Freedom Fighters, Timesplitters 2, Rouge Squadron, NFS Most Wanted, SSX 3, Nightfire, along with the usual great 1st party games

Or would you take Wii Play, Brain Age, Wii Fit, Trauma Center, ExciteTruck, Sonic and TSR, Victorious Boxers, Call of Duty 2 or 3, another port of RE4, another port of The 2 Thrones, along with ok 1st party games?

The gap is still $100+. I'm sorry but anybody who buysthe Xbox360 Arcade pack is a fool.

The Wii's motion controls make it something new and exciting, and people like new and exciting. The PS3 and 360 may be technically superior, but the Wii has caught on with the media and the general public due to it's radically different style of control (even if its implementation is usually half-assed.

Plus, Nintendo did a pretty good job with the "We're nice and family friendly! We even hug kittens!" advertising. Families like kitten-hugging consoles much more than shotgun firing consoles.

Regardless of whether or not you think they are "fools", the 360 is still available for $280. Furthermore, the difference was only $100 last generation - that didn't stop the GC from coming in last place. Stop trying to deny that the Wii is not selling BECAUSE of the pricepoint.

the ps2 had all of those gen defining games that everyone had to play. In its first year it had thps3, dmc, GTA3!!, and FFX. Those were all exclusive at the time that the ps2 started gaining momentum. DVD player included helped matters as well

In other words, the Cube deserved to sell that fast and rapidly and be on target to get at least 40 million sold over its period of time because it had many quality games and 3rd parties at least treated it with respect.

The Wii does not deserve to be selling well as it is due to the fact it has games without great quality.

PS1 and PS2 had great quality games as well, and people were not tired of the same old gameplay at that time if both sold over 100M. PS1 and PS2 had many great games that pushed the limits of the system and made good use of the era it was in.

On the other hand the Wii is getting flash minigames, weird cartoonish games, education games, ports of PS2/GCN games, and having many games that show the 3rd parties dont take it seriously. I mean look at Wii Playground, Wii Fit,rail shooters, and so much lack of quality. This crap does not deserve to sell no matter what controller is present.

So what what the purpose of the jump from NES to SNES? The purpose of the jump to SNES to N64 and the jump of N64 to GC? Didnt they all improve the graphics which in term can improve gameplay? If you think its not all about the graphics why are you not playing your NES or SNES? If you have been buying new systems over the course of years, then you have no reason to say graphics dont matter.

The Wii hardly improves on what we saw last-gen, come on that is Nintendo being cheap, surely they got enough funds to make a system on par with 360 graphics, but this just showcases their greed.
