you do realize there was a time before achievements, right?fdsajklfhjkdsah
Yes but wonce you start getting used to achievements you don't want to go back
What a sad state gaming has become if we need "bonuses" to make our games fun. How many times have gamers played through Double Dragon, or SMB3, or Sonic. We didn't need prizes, it was enough to have fun with a good game.shadowcat2576not like its a bad idea though..and ps3 is getting gamer trphies like ibacai said

Im not aaddicting to gamerpoints ,i only have i think 3000 in around 10 months.
ut its the fact that i don't like to play games where i get no reward for beating it afterwards, i mean when you beat it, you just beat it, noting else. might have been fun, but feels better than you get a reawrd

I wish they would make a universal GT or somthing where you can get achievements for every game yo play on any system
would have been awesome
[QUOTE="BuryMe"]it's a sad, sad day for gaming when people won't play a game just because a game is fun, well thoughtout and addictive.Teh_StevzMan, you want me to break out Tetris again... :(
I have Tetris DS, that game pwns all other puzzle games, its so fun. I got up to level60 or somethingon standard mode with endless enabled. Basically by the time you get past level 30, the game does not speed up anymore. I have a highscore of over 3 million points for that mode.
I swear, gamers these days are spoiled.
There used to be such a thing as wanting to beat a game because the act of beating it was its own reward. Those were in the days before save points and backtracking. Losing your last life on the last boss and having to start all over again... I miss 80s gaming sometimes.
hahahahaha dude live with it. home is coming out soon and then you'll have awesome trophies!! and achievements arent that important lol_DeatH-MetaL_They are the same dam thing. Just a different word, really.

No. No one feels this way. And they shouldn't. It's ridiculous.
If anything, a sense of achievement in unlocked goods (resistance, God of War), or weapons (resistance) is what I really want out of a game, seeing as it contributes a circular value for the game. Not to mention the "trophies" should let you get your achievement on with the PS3, if you're a sad human being or something.
You're being bounded by a number that essentially does nothing?
I suppose this is your first console.

You are looking forward to home?
Achievements are cool because they are a record of your gameplaying history and they often give a game extra incentive to play through again to get the achievements.Believe you me you might not even notice it at first but even if you are somebody who just beats a game one one difficulty and never looks back you will eventually start to really appreciate the concept.
Its also a badge of honor among other gamers possibly the greatest badge one can hope to attain.

Let me explain. The second time you play Resistance Fall of Man you get something like 4 new weapons and 1 new grenade. It ends up making the game more fun and ultimately better the second time around.
Additionally, the game allows you to unlock "achievements" in the game. These achievements amount to points, which you can then use to buy art and other content.
For the "community" factor, it has badges and awards that you receive for certain multiplayer-only achievements (headshot, weapon related, most often). There are a huge number of these. They ultimately give a better indication of your online gaming characteristics than anything on Xbox Live, in addition to a number of extremely expansive statistics. Based on a number of experience points, you "rank up," which other gamers then see, knowing your online reputability. Single player clears net you a medal online. Additionally, even the online "achievements" offer content upgrades. You can unlock outfits, accessories, and helmets. This creates diversity (practically everyone has a different character model, and the real vets are truly distinguished), complicates and broadens online play to a certain level.
This, or a number. Whatever.
We've got leaderboards too, on Motorstorm, GTHD, whatever.
In addition to that, PSN, through Home, will get those lame little trophies.
Just saying, achievement points are extremely weak compared to what we get on PSN.
Additionally, if you've ever played God of War, you'd know that content is ultimately the most rewarding victory token a developer could possibly give you.Redfingers
QFT, God of War had that doocumentary thing where they showed you the new game with his brother
what ever happened to that game?

(spoiler)
There was a sequel called God of War 2. Now, a PSP game called Chains of Olympus that is a prequel to the original game is set to come out. A God of War 3 game for PS3 will probably be in the works.
I don't think they ever advertised any game with Kratos' (the main character) brother. There was a modern day spinoff trailer and you learn Zeus is Kratos' father. This is presumably God of War 2, and the modern spinoff is presumably not in the works.
EDIT: Actually, there was a trailer with Kratos brother. I assume it's up in the air.
