People can claim that the PS3 is dead and buried. Its only been out 7 months people! I just got one today, and let me tell you, it is nowhere near dead. I really have been enjoying it, was well worth 600 to me. (Cheapest Blu-Ray player out there.) So how about we wait a few more years till we start claiming the PS3 is dead, hmm?
It isn't whether it's dead to you, it's whether the other 6billion peoples are willing to buy it and support its software. And whether it will continue to have games developed for it.
I really don't know why anyone would want to buy either HD-DVD or BR players now. Most people that know me consider me an AV freak (my everyday headphones cost $200) and I have absolutely no urge to buy either format. Anyway the PS3 isn't dead yet, but its getting pretty close. Unless Sony makes some big moves come this fall I don't see the PS3 going anywhere.

I actually got it at a local Gamecrazy (Hollywood video) I didnt get a chance to go to costco, and at the place I got it, they give you twelve (one for each moth) free game or movie rentals, which I thought was koo. I got a HDMI (Nyko brand) cable and resistence.

I don't own a Playstation 3, but I too would not say that is dead. Trouble it might have, but I can't find any system that hasn't had a rough launch. I'll be honest and say the 600 dollar price tag is high, but onverall the system looks promising. I intend on buying one when I have the money and feel that the system is worth it. The system has good games right now ; Resistence, Virtua Fighter 5, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and others. Naturally, these are the games I'd buy if I were to buy a Playstation 3, but you might have your own choice. I love my Wii, but I don't like to see people bash the PS3. I am glad you found value in your purchase. I'll get one soon enough.

The PS3 is not dead. PS2 had the same problems after launch, and what console won last generation? The PS2! The PS3 has superior graphics that will only keep getting better. Also Blu-ray will eventually become todays DVD's. So why not get a gaming system and a Blu-ray player (which are expensive.) Yes there may be Blu-ray players under $600, but are they good? No. FTW, Sony has the biggest fanbase and has always dominated the electronic market.

i hope PS3 and sony don't die off then MS will have no giant competitor to go up against so they won't try to improve as much. just like what happened with windows
