Sony just have to give all of their employees $600 to buy the ps3.  The employees will then return the ps3 to Sony so that the NPD would look good without losing any money.  This will increase consumer and developers confident to support the ps3.

Sony is taking 2 long to release games.  Their potential fanbase is declining more and more each month and developers like Square and Konami would be scare to develop for the ps3 because of the lack of fan base.  The cycle of death continues...

I dont think its works like that. Report in what stock has been sold and if you return it, you will regain what stock they had. And faking something like that wouldn't be even way of a benefit for the consumers or Sony.

Only if you returned it to the store.  Since they would be returning it directly to Sony the numbers wouldn't show it.

By the way this is a terrible idea that would never work.  First they would basically get every single employee at Sony thinking they are working for a bunch of unethical liars and then Sony would start loosing staff left and right.  Second it would be leaked to the media by about 200 employees and then Sony would end in worse shape then they were previously.

Uhm, no not really.  Most people are still playing last gen systems (me and all my friends still play our PS2's and Xbox's).  This holiday season will be the start of the shift towards next-gen and PS3 will have plenty of games to get people to buy the system (Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Warhawk, Killzone 2, Haze, The Darkness, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Socom: Confrontation, GTAIV, Assassin's Creed, Pro Evo Soccer, Eye of Judgement, Home, Stranglehold, Medal of Honor and much much more....

That is a pretty good line up but most of those games are action/shooters.  Sony needs jrpgs like lost oddyssey, eternal sonata, blue dragon or even FF13!!! to compete with MS and Nintendo.

Yea FF13 was supposed to fill that hole but looks like the game may be released in 08.  This holiday season is going to be BIG on next gen sales though, Wii, PS3, 360 all will sell well (hopefully).  I just wish the PS3 had a price cut to like $449.

A pricecut is very likely for the ps3 in fall because MS and Nintendo will most likely drop their prices.  Sony is losing alot of money on the ps3 and in order to survive they need to have a decent holiday season or they are done.  And if Sony loses that would mean games like FF13 and MGS4 will go multiplatform.

We'll see my friend, we'll see.  HOPEFULLY they will drop the price (although it's never been done before in the first year of a consoles life in a long time.)  This is kind of an exceptionally situation though.

Sony could also by back all of the PS3s bought and those sitting unsold. Send them off to a recycling center and hope to make money that way. You never know...could work. :)
