I was able to attend CES 2008 through my College and an opportunity w/ a local newspaper agency division. I got a press pass to most of the big events, and could have attented all the days, but due to my schedule I was only able to go Sunday, Monday, and Today. My job was to scout the show floor, go to press conferences, and pretty much be a reporter (not full fledged, but write a little paragraph or two peice on the latest products shown at CES 08). It was fun...I've never been to the Las Vegas Convention Center before (but I've lived in Vegas for 11 years now...so it was an experience).
I spent most of time around IBM and Intel and nVidia getting the scoop on their latest and greatest...lots of stuff...that I may make a thread or blog about later...I did spent an hour or so in the video game entertainment section and actually got a chance to play Little Big Planet and boy was I excited :P
At first when I held the control I was like...I'm dreaming, this can't be real, as I moved the little brown guy around the animations were very smooth...I played around a bit getting used to the controls...which didn't take too long...and I was on my way to creating my own level. Its a lot harder than it looks (at first)...for the first couple of minutes I was having trouble getting the scale of the items right, and getting them to drop, but after a bit it was fun. I made a bridge rather quickly and had some fun running around...I also tried placing lots of items on the screen at once...and I did notice a bit of a slow down...nothing drastic (it'll probably be fixed in the full game)...but puttint too many objects at once causes a frame-rate drop to occur. The game is very fun....although they better create lots more stuff in the full version. The current selection of items they had was rather lacking imo. This game I have very high hopes for
