"..it has added Clubs, which allow for up to 32 members to gather in a private Clubhouse space, complete with an editable bulletin board. Plans call for the open beta – the one everyone can get into – to feature "premium" for-pay Clubhouses."

So to get into those super extra cool God of War 3, Killzone 2, Infamous, LBP, etc. premium Clubhouses you need to pay a fee?  I knew Home might be another trojan for paying for PSN.

I mean sure content like clothing, furniture, etc. are expected to have a fee, but having to pay to go into a premium Clubhouse was news to me, unless you knew about that too?

I didn't even know there was a premium clubhouse, and I really don't care for it any more than I care for the furniture

True, but remember how they announced they'll have special themed rooms for games like Warhawk, Resistance 2, etc. where you can strategized and stuff, what if you can only have access to that for a fee? Maybe these are the Clubhouses the article was talking about?

The difference is if I want to go play a match of COD4 on a Xbox 360 I have to pay $50 a year. While micro-transactions in home are completely optional and don't effect the PSN's free online multiplayer at all.

Home was never supposed to be a killer app. It's just a fun supplement to the social experience that Sony provides. Plus, Sony needs the microtransaction money, seiing as they're doing fairly poorly on the profit front.

another trojan??? Im going to assume you own a xbox360. Now first off you MUST pay 50 bucks a year to xbox (sure theres silver but you miss out on a alot, such as demos, etc., which the you get for free using psn), whereas psn is free like said before. Now in Xboxnext right now its free for clothing, but it wont always be like that, i also assume sony is taking the same approach, free at launch, then cost money later. Second, the clubhouse is a NEW FEATURE IN HOME, so it was a surprise, now it is a feature that if you want, you can get by paying for it, i myself dont care and wont be wasting money on it. Now mind you Xbox doesnt even have a 2nd life coming out for its system, so why are you talking.

Now the whole qore argument is ridiculas. Sure im jealous people have home betas, and socomn betas, and early play for motostorm and they will probably get a kz2 beta aswell as exclusive themse and news in a cool digital format. Hey, ill admit it im jealous. BUT, they paid 30 bucks a year for it. In xbox live, you dont even have that option. Therefore psn users get everything bxl live users do, but for free. Then Psn users can get cool addons like (addons in home or qore) features that MS doesnt even support, yet they require a small amount of money..

whats so unfair about that. Sony DIDNT have to release clubhouses (they werent going to, its a new feature founded), better yet THEY DIDNT HAVE TO MAKE HOME,

for the price tag they offer (Free), i really am not complanining, maybe thats why i didnt care home was delayed alot, because its being made and its free. Something that wasnt made with a subscription XBL.

funny part about that is you never see ps3 fanboys bring that part up. a private clubhouse? the only people that are going to pay for something like these are hardcore gamers that in clans. i dont know much about home, but i always just assumed you can invite people to your place or something.

As expected, another misleading title.

So some clubs have fee's to get in, whoopee. Don't go in them. Even without HOME, PSN users can play with their friends. Home needs to be able to pay for itself, and if making enticing clubs helps pay for HOME, then so be it.  Eveyone that read about HOME knew that their were going to be microtranactions, sure this club thing is new, but that's all it is NEW.

If Sony announces Tomorrow that Plane Rides in HOME are going to cost, please don't make a thread about HOME having a Fee. Don't RIDE THE PLANE!

It isn't a Fee for HOME.

Sony is full of it. Its getting annoying to know that they have so many people in Home and they just leave everyone else out to "read" about in threads etc. Its stupid....Home Demo. Why would you have a closed beta, then an open beta, to hopefully release it....when? Sony is just full of it.

Ok. The clubhouses are different from the gamespaces. Club houses are just a place that anyone can make for you and your friends to meet up and hang out without being bothered by outside people. Only the leader pays the fee to have the club made. It does not cost money to join a club unless your the one running it. Please look into things instead of making things up.

So do I have to pay a fee for Home?  No you say?  Ok, what's your point?

Oh, online services charge for some services?  Really?  This is news to anyone?

But wait, I'll be able to play Home for free and play games for free via PSN still?  Oh, cool beans!

Glad we had this conversation!

Well, I certainly wont be paying to go into any clubhouses with Resistance 2 goodies plastered inside. If Sony wants people to pay for online, they need to shape up the PSN and give a Premium version and a free version. The Premium with all the bells and whistles of LIVE and the free version for what the PSN was about a year ago. Stuff like Qore and Premium Clubhouses will bring in some dough, but Sony needs to put something out worth my money in order for me to buy it.

Home should have been out a long time ago. If M$ can announce a revamp of their dashboard in June and then make it happen by fall, there is no reason Home should have taking this long.

They should have never worried about Home and just concentrated all that money and resources on shaping up the PSN to be on par with Xbox Live in my opinion. Home wont be worth the wait I bet.

I agree. I think Home will look good and such but when it comes down to actual online functionality, that part is kinda iffy. Also I've never paid for themes, gamerpics, etc. but just like the NXE Premium themes, maybe just purchasing one Clubhouse won't hurt either. These Clubhouses got me interested on what will be inside them.

But yeah I wished Sony should've put all that time and resources on PSN more than Home.  I just want to make a funny looking Home Avatar, walk around Home, and dance in front of female Avatars, and I'm good.

I believe what you are referring to are the Game Spaces.  Such as Resistance, Uncharted, Far Cry, etc.  Those are free to access.  The premium clubhouses are if you choose to purchase a new clubhouse ****for your club.  As with the housing, you are given a free house/club and can choose to pay to upgrade for a bigger place.   Just like you can have free clothes/furniture/appliances - but eventually I am sure you will also have "premium" options that you would have to pay for or win from an arcade game.

you are a real ps3 hater aren't you? You dis everything ps3, why do you own one? Do some research! The clubhouse thing has nothing to do with god of war, uncharted etc... those are game rooms. Home will offer standard free club houses for everyone. Then there are premium versions available. There was always going to be micro transactions in home, you sir FAIL!! Don't try spreading your anti-ps3 propaganda on this!

Totally understandable...the only people complaining about this or bringing it up are lems who don't even own ps3's...or they do but bash it(which makes no freakn sense to me!) anyway, no ps3 "supporter", has commented negatively about micro-transactions You know why? Do you even know what home is? God you lems are something else!!! HAve you even seen movies on home, compare it to the new xbox dashboard is not a comparison, Home is not replacing xmb.... Its completely optional and free, it has some micro transactions for premium clothes and furniture...it's like a mmo...only based on social networking, not combat. Its cool as hell when you go into an arcade room and you see people bowling and chatting on mics or doing emotes, there are playabe arcades, pool, music stations, theatres, your own house that everyone gets that's fully customizable. Imagine playing the sims, but massivly..and everyone you see is a real person. Its a site to see for sure. I am in the beta (and k2 beta) It's a fun social experiement if anything. I have already seen clics forming and smoking circles and late at night at 3:30Am and there is only like 5 girls left on it I see people going and trying to hit on them online. It really is like a giant chat-room/ myspace where you can play games, interact , watch movies and meet with your psn buddies. All done with real looking Avatars, not miis. It has spectacular visuals and views. Seriously you can't compare home to m$'s version of mii's and xmb...

Wow, how's your option for a cheaper blurayless PS3? What about the cheaper one without the wifi? Good thing you guys have all those options of what you get with your system..oh wait. So let me get this straight, when it comes to the online service free with paying for extras is ok, but when it comes to hardware cheaper with the option to buy extras is bad? You see, us 360(and pc) guys like options with our hardware. The funny thing is I guarantee I can find posts of yours where the very things you're praising about Sony and the online you're blasting MS for when it comes to hardware options. Nice hypocrisy.

As a PS3 owner what annoys me with Home is that Sony are spending time developing the gimmick thing while my online matches on CoD4 and WaW are broken by all the connection issues... every damn server on WaW brakes down every match!!! During or after... this problem isn`t just for multiplats, socom and lbp where a disaster. Cows must be the most forgiving consumers on the planet. Home, buying virtual furniture? and paying for it?!? I feel like a looser and idiot just for being offered something like that, GTFO! Fix your broken PSN before you do anything else and start working with the 3`rd party developers so the online experience is fixed. Every cow says, "well it`s free, what do you expect". Well, unless you got the PS3 for free, you paid for it! I paid $500, its way too much for a console with a broken online service.

pathetic.

I think its for of a clubhouse for gaming clans/guilds to make their own it seemed. That was the first thing that came to my mind since they don't say what type of clubhouses it is talked about. It would be very silly to try to get people to pay to enter the GOW3 area etc. These areas is supposed to be promo areas. And not clubhouses.

Premium Clubs are news to me. But I like the notion of being able to create your own club and clubhouse. You can be a leader of 1 and join up to 5 in all. They cap at 32 members though and have private clubhouses with bulletins. I'm sure that's remaining free.

[QUOTE="world69star69"][QUOTE="Nasty_butler_9"] Nope, but you cant blame this, HOME must be costing them a fortune. Putting in optional spending here and there isn't despicable on any level, it's completely understandableSteppy_76
you see us ps3(and pc) guys like options. like content that we can have without paying a subscription fee just to even use our product sure extras cost some, but we don't have to use it to enjoy our experience.

This can go both ways (PC gamers have it best). But by the end of the generation, I'm sure every Live user will spend more or the same on subscription fees than they (or PS3 owners) would spend on standard hardware incentives buying a PS3.

[QUOTE="player_leo"]Home should have been out a long time ago. If M$ can announce a revamp of their dashboard in June and then make it happen by fall, there is no reason Home should have taking this long. world69star69

Home is a 3D world. Sony has to develop it similar to that of a game (yet it isn't a game). It takes time (been a year and a half since revealed). Not only that but its a persistent environment, online only, and partnered with a dozen 3rd party publishers/advertisers. NXE was announced this year and released this year (also raises question pertaining to it's inspirations) and not as ambitious as far as game-like assets. Smart on MS's part. But I'm sure they've been working on it for much longer than 5 months lol.
