October 2, 2009 - Forza Motorsport 3 has too much love to give. That's not a joke. Not all of the cars and tracks could fit on one DVD, so developer Turn 10 had to split them onto two discs. When you first insert disc 1, it will ask if you want to install the second disc. The install eats up 1.9 GB of space. Yowa! But you can instead choose pieces of disc 2 to install if you have limited space or a memory card.

Just delete that Forza 3 demo i know all you Forza 3 fans have and then you'll have enough space for disc 2.

Why? Who cares. Try 80% of the PS3 library needing an install. That's epic.

I don't know why people always complain about having to install games.... It doesn't take long and unless you have a really small hdd it shouldn't matter and if you do, you can just remove the game data and keep the save files if you ever wan't to go back to it.

Since they are the official sim racing games of their systems, fanboys tend to side with the one on their own system.

I personally could care less about both as I am not into racing games too much.

Btw, the entire FM3 game is on 1 disc without install. The 2nd disc is content from FM2 redone with snazzy juiced up visuals for tracks and car models. It's basically bonus content is what the guy from Turn 10 said.

It's just Forza 3 and it's not mandatory at all. In fact, you can choose to completely ignore it, or install specific parts - or the whole 1.9 GBs if you'd like.

Exactly! Nessasary game content is way greater than having to install as a work around for a trojan horse (unless someone can show a link that BR was made for a console first) tacked on method BR disk format that needed it!:)

Neither is that big of a deal, but I have to say when FFXIII is brought up, for some reason it's always about Installs vs. Discs.
The possibility of both never comes up.

I guess 1.9 GB's of actual game content > some unnecessary 5.0 GB install some PS3 games are plagued with. :(

BioShockOwnz

It's used mainly for saving configurations (controller layouts), save games, and even quicker access to the disk for textures, quick loading, etc. Its no different to PC installs which are a taken as standard and only require the disk for minimal access. So I don't see why people are complaining, oh wait - fanboys, gotcha.

Now we are going to think "well its a console, I shouldn't have to install any games." Well then you must hate all the features that all the consoles now use. Why have a gaming console which play's dvd's? Why have a console which can let me play music at the same time when gaming? Why have a console which will let me go on msn, facebook, use web browsers? Why play Blu-ray movies? Hell, why do we need to even install demos, why cant we just get those awesome demo disks like we did in the past and leave the online aspect of consoles just for PvP gaming? You guys just need to get over it, their is a draw back for everything, and installing a part of a game to a console isn't that big of a deal - especially for a console where you can get a HUGE HDD for very low prices.

Also, TC, this "I guess Lemmings will have to install games too" thing aint that much of a win for you. It's not even important, hell, its only ONE game. At least come back when you have several games which need to partially installed to the Xbox 360. I'll be waiting with a list twice as long for all the PS3 games that need to be installed, including the 10/10 MGS4 (which has an installation after each act).

I guess 1.9 GB's of actual game content > some unnecessary 5.0 GB install some PS3 games are plagued with. :(

BioShockOwnz

Either one is pretty crappy if you only have a 20 gig hdd, although I won't be picking this up anyways.

so there y ou have, lemmings will also need to install games too, if they want to access the cars from the 2nd disc :)

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/103/1031109p1.html#

October 2, 2009 - Forza Motorsport 3 has too much love to give. That's not a joke. Not all of the cars and tracks could fit on one DVD, so developer Turn 10 had to split them onto two discs. The first disc is your game disc. Insert it and you have access to most of the environments and about 300 cars. To get the rest (104 cars, 29 tracks), you'll need to install disc 2 on a hard drive.

When you first insert disc 1, it will ask if you want to install the second disc. The install eats up 1.9 GB of space. Yowa! But you can instead choose pieces of disc 2 to install if you have limited space or a memory card.

The difference is, you don't NEED to install the second disc to play the game. Turn 10 has already stated that this is like DLC that was included with the game on disc. You can play the game without, but if you want even more content it's there for free. How is this a bad thing?

sorry, but what part of " To get the rest (104 cars, 29 tracks), you'll need to install disc 2 on a hard drive." do you not understand?

What part of OPTIONAL don't you understand?

How the heck is it optional, it would be optional if you didn't already pay for it. when you buy FOrza 3 you pay for 2 discs, not just 1. If you had the option just to buy that one disc then it would be fine.

Like I stated before, Turn 10 already said the extra disc is just DLC that they decided to include with the game purchase. It is not required to play the game. The GAME disc is the first disc. It has everything you need to PLAY the game. The 2nd disc is bonus material that you can CHOOSE to install or not. Whether the game was 1 disc or two is irrelevant because if it was just 1 disc it'd still have been $60. Now if they were including the 2nd disc but charging $70 for the game. . .you might have a point. As it is now however, you're wrong.

I don't understand people who don't install games anyway, especially on the 360. It completely eliminates noise and disc scratching not to speak of the heat because of spinning discs lowering the risk of the red ring. If all people installed their games we would see less "oh noes my xbox scratched my game disc for the 13th time" threads.

It's not a big deal, but I have a very mixed opinion on it.

It sucks that its two disks and it needs installs. But seriously, it's not that bad. I usually install a game as soon as I get home, then I go back outside, fix up what i need to with the car, or grab some groceries, something. And go to the bathroom, stuff like that. I come back and the game is usually installed. Installs really only suck to people who don't have a life outside of games.

I know it's not necessary to install the second disk, but I would install it anyways. Why am I gonna pay for the full product but not use the full thing and get the full experience?

But seriously, for a game like Forza 3, it's worth it. The Forza franchise has proven itself in the past, and I have no complaints about the way it was set up.

because we all know that people in online racing games ACTUALLY use all the cars or tracks, Its the same with any racing game peopel choose a set of cars usually the fastests car available and the best made tracks. In the end its kind of silly how we have all these car racing developers oh we have so many cars, and so many tracks, when in reality less then half the cars will ever really get used, and about 4 of the tracks will be popular.

Installing MORE content, versus installs that don't give you anything? Poor lemmings.. :?
