I don't know if this is allowed, so mods plz dont mod me, but i was meaning to make a topic about this in SW when i saw one that said everything I needed to say in one Post in the RaC downloadable game forum, so i brang it hear, i repeat i did not type this but I agree with it 110%. The Guy who typed it is VindicatedAVP. This is his post talking about the 7.5 for the new RaC
A 7.5? Really? Is it that bad? Okay, so I saw the Video Review for this game before I went on the Review page and saw the actual score. And by the way the reviewer was praising the game, I was pretty sure that the game would received AT LEAST a 9.0, if not even a 9.5 But 7.5? Let's break down the video review by sentence, shall we?
Like, the negative things that he mentioned were -
- No Qwark or Clank
- No Arena challenges
- Upgraded weapons aren't much different than their original counterparts
- Hidden upgrades don't add a lot to the game
And here are the positives that he mentioned about the game -
- It should be played by anyone who likes R&C or simply platforming
- The narrator keeps the story funny as every other game in the series
- Story is very entertaining throughout
- The game is focused on fun
- Combat is top notch
- Only a couple of puzzles that are really funny
- Platforming is difficult, yet not frustrating
- The "essence" of Ratchet and Clank condensed into 4 hours
- The graphics are ridiculously good and are some of the best you'll see on the system
- No frame-rate hiccups
- Best looking downloadable game
- It's a ridiculously awesome game
- Not one boring minute in the 3 1/2 hr. adventure
~~~
So 4 negatives compared to 13 positives earns a game a 7.5? And every negative listed can easily be bruished off by saying these words - "IT'S A $15 DOWNLOADABLE GAME". The Arena Challenges is one of the biggest R&C feature. If they offered that for $15, who would go buy the next full sequel to Future: ToD? And as for the weapon upgrades, the 4 hrs. long. If they were to have each of the weapons upgrade from Level 1 to 5 like in the previous games, they would have to give you basically one weapon upgrade practically every 5/10 minutes or so. And most of the enemies already die after getting hit 2-3 times. If the upgrades were to give the weapons more power, the difficulty level would decrease even further, at which point the reviewer might mark the game down for being so easy.
As far as the missing characters go, Clank is missing because of the storyline, so it's stupid to mark the game down for that, imo. And okay, they could've had Qwark have a cameo to make the game better. Maybe give him the role of the narrator or something. But w/e.
The reviewer stated that this game is better than Deadlocked and ToD. And I just had to go and check, and it turns out that Deadlocked got an 8.6.
So yeah. I was so shocked at the score that I just had to waste so much time and rant like a lunatic on here. ;[
P.S - Before you get on my case about being a fanboy or something,, know this - Out of the entire R&C franchise, I've only played UYA and I was planning on renting Tools of Destruction from my neighborhood Blockbuster in the near future.
