I got word from a few friends that my ol lady is planning on buying me a ps3 for xmas. I did not want to ruin her surprise but I had to stop her from making a mistake. I had to tell her to cancel that idea and was sorry for finding out. I don't want the damn ps3. It has only a few games taht I would want to play and my wii60 keeps me more then busy enough. Nin360

Why the hell did you do that? I"m a lemming I would want a free PS3, not to play game (not one PS3 game interests me) but it does play blu-rays. You'd just be one of about half the PS3 install base that uses it for just that, an HD player.

aww man, i know you were just trying to save her money but I think in these situations you should jsut let them buy stuff for you.

The reason is that it is the 'thought' that counts. She was trying to give you a gift that you would like and knew how much you like games.

I used to think like you and just tell ppl to get me something else, but then I learned that that is actually a very selfish attidude. Now I let ppl give me what ever they want to because I know they are thinking about me and trying to buy something that I like. I accept the gift and try to enjoy it as much as possible.

You are basically rejecting her ability to please you by rejecting her gift. It's a subtle thing but I hope you learn from this. Always accept a gift from someone and not tell them they made the wrong choice. Accept it and try to enjoy it as much as you can and be greatful that you have friends and family that are willing to give you anything at all.

This should NEVER be about what YOU want or what YOU like. It's about the OTHER person and how they want you to be happy. Don't be selfish!
