Sony is cutting off support for the 20gb PS3. Why, did they relase it then? I am stuck with this dead 20gb. They seem to stop shipping it the 10 stores I went to have not gotten a 20gb for over 3 weeks only 60gb.This is what they do  to their products they should have never realeased 2 types. Stupid Sony. Go nintendo for only one version.

What exactly is the problem? You can play the same games as the 60 gig version. You can watch the same movis etc.

The only thing you don't have is card readers, chrome and WiFi and if that bothers you so much you should have got the 60 gig version. You can always buy a bigger hard drive.

No but why are they stopping the 20gb support? Thay want to finish it and now I will have a useless dead console. I didn't need 60gb but never kew the 20gb was going to die. And I didn't get the 60gb because my store only had one PS3 left and that was the 20gb.

What difference does it make if Sony is killing the 20GB PS3? It's not like it doesn't play the same games as the 60 GB version or plays them worse.

Heh, Sony does something right, M$ fans have been begging for this to happen to the gimped 360. Two different sku's is probably the most lame thing about systems this generation. You lose way more than you gain on that $100 off.

They aren't producing the 20GB version because it's inferior. You should buy a new 60GB one. Immediately. :)

I don't see how they are going to cut off support for it.

If you didn't see Sony cutting production and eventually ceasing production on the "budget" model, you really had to be naive.

MS will not keep the Core package around when the overall price of the components drops.

Both companies simply have a cheaper SKU to entice consumers. It is more expensive for them to manufacturer and package two different units than 1.

But not shipping and not supporting are two totally different things. Sony still even supports the PS1. You can play all the same games as with a 60GB, and upgrade the harddrive anytime you want. You can get around the card reader by using USB devices and if you wanted wireless you should have waited untill you could find the 60.

Your 20GB is not useless, you are not stuck with anything. You're hate is unfounded.

Give me a break!  There is no comparison between the 20GB PS3 and the 360 core system.  The 20gb actually has a hard drive.  The only things you miss with the 20GB are extra disk space, multi-card reader, integrated wireless, and PSP connectivety.  I own a 20GB.  Here are my thoughts:

1.  storage:  you still get 20GB to start with and you can upgrade the internal hard disk if you want or attach USB storage.

2.  Card reader.  Not a big deal since the 20gb has a bunch of usb ports.  That works for me.

3.  Integrated wireless.  I have a dlink ethernet to wireless adapter plugged into the network port.  It probably performs better than the 60GB internal wireless.

4.  PSP streaming/connectivety:  I personally don't have any use for this feature.

The 360 core system is what should be discontinued if anything.  I'm a fan of the 20GB ps3.  The only thing I had to add to my 20GB PS3 was a wireless to ethernet adapter.  I already had one connected to my ps2.  In my situation, I have everything I need with the 20GB ps3.  The 360 core unit forces you to at least buy a memory module, and at $40 for a 64mb card, you are much better off spending $100 for the hard drive.  What I was saying is that the PS3 20GB was actually a good value compared to the crappy core offering from Microsoft.  MS should make their existing premium the new core.  In my opinion, Sony was providing a good product with their 20GB system, oh well :(
