I mean it is cool for some games, but developers think they always have to use it just because its there. I like the traditional controlls. Also there is no place to clip the stylus to the DS so I am losing it all the time. You could call this a design flaw, but I think they did it on purpose. That way you will keep buying replacements.

Who is with me??

Well, I usually hate people that hate touch screen, but you seem like a polite, well rounded person...

ECOTERRORIST! (That's your name, right?)

Anyways, I won't prejudge you, just don't generalize the kinds of games that can appear on the DS. So far it's been a magnificent ride, Eco T.

I can call you Eco T, Right?

Umm... if they did it on purpose, then why give the DS Lite a slot for holding the stylus?

And there are millions of people who love it. Why should anybody care if anyone else like it or not??:?

I LOVE the touch screen. It's basically the reason the DS exists, ya know. And the DS has a slot for the stylus. Find it. It's useful, son.

The touch screen is by far the best thing about the DS let alone handheld gaming. Everytime a game comes out that uses standard controls, I get a little sad.

You got it :)

Sometimes it can be a gimmick but it's all up to the developer, like the Wii.

Some dig it, some don't. You are in the latter category.

I'm not saying it is bad, its just that it doesn't always need to be used. I like standard controls for many games.

There are a lot of great games using the touch screen..Most of Nintendo's AAA games use the touch screen.

I really want more point and clicks using it too.

I think touch screen is good when combined with traditional controls, but I hate the all touch devices like those new ipods.

Oh yes, that is annoying. What's also aggravating is when you can't use a stylus, meaning you have to get your greasy fingers all over the screen.

I would love to agree with you, but Lego Indy on the DS has me rubbing my greasy thumb all over the touch screen. Good thing its an awesome game.

As long as it's by choice, more power too you. Unfortunately the type of touchscreen that Apple uses needs contact with flesh to work. Plastic nibs aren't even an option.

The touch screen is the best innovation that Nintnedo has brought to handheld gaming. There are so many great games that make use of it. Here are some examples: EBA, Feel the Magic XY, Professor Layton, and Phantom Hourglass. There is nothing but love from me for the DS.

Plastic styluses wont work though. The iPhone uses what's called a "capacitive" touchscreen. I'm no engineer, but from my rough understanding of it I know that whatever touches the screen must be able to hold a small charge ("capacitance"). The human body can do this. Plastic cannot. (though a plastic screen protector is thin enough not to inhibit this phenomenon).

Touch screen is slick. The DS is bringing certain genres to handheld gaming this gen mainly because of the touch screen. FPS, edutainment, and ryhthm are good examples. Not to mention that when a good dev like Team Ninja or Square Enix gets their hand on it, they can expand on any particular genre they feel like.

the touch screen is good for some genre's but not for others. My main gripe with the DS is having two screens instead of one. I just HATE the gap between the two, it really annouys me and i just wish they could somehow design the DS(dual screen lol ) with only one screen.

The DS screen is great, so is the way the stylus clips into the slot at the back.

I also don't like the touch screen. I got the DS back in '04, and my favourite games since are normal controls Pokemon Diamond and Mario Kart. I only liked one touch-only game, Kirby: Canvas Curse. I like the PSP much more, it has awesome games that don't use any annoying touch controls (GoW:COO, GTA:LCS/VCS, Burnout, Disgaea:AoD). Also if the PSP goes the way of the DS I won't be buying the PSP2 (But I may try out that new Telson 3D thing :D).

The 80 million DS owners say it isnt a failure, the graphics are cool, Zelda looks great, as do games like Mario 64, which does not need the screen to control.
