Last gen I could not grasp the PS2 controller and thought it was the worst of the bunch.

Until I held a Sixaxis/Dualshock 3, those R2 and L2 triggers made a world of difference. I gamed mainly on Cube and Xbox and they had triggers, so that must be the reason why.

And I love how the analog sticks are not tight but a bit more loose.

The last but not least, it was my deciding factor in buying a PS3 but I got to wait til June 12 to have it here.

It is just comfortable.

The PS controller has hardly changed at all though :| how can you move from love to hate when the controller is barely any different. I hated to first xbox controller (never used the S one) but I love the 360 controller, because they actually changed it.

I don't really see much of a difference between the two. BTW the PS2 controller is the best controller in my opinion and am glad Sony didn't change the PS3 controller all that much.

I know they are exactly the same but for some reason the PS2 controller felt weird to me I am guessing because the shoulder buttons were flat. I had to look at the controller countless of times to know where my fingers were positioned. Never once looked at the Xbox, 360, and GC controllers.

The R2 and L2 buttons have become triggers and it made me actually like the feel of it.

Notable games I played on PS3 without once looking at the controller COD 4, Uncharted, Burnout, Heavenly Sword. All very impressive.

Do you like have one finger on each side for pressing shoulder buttons or something? If so that's what you were doing wrong, you're supposed to use 4 fingers for the shoulder buttons, that way you know which one is which.

I tried four fingers on the shoulder buttons but I found it cramped my style and I prefer to use 2 fingers on the shoulder buttons and move them up and down when I have to.

Well I mainly gamed on the Cube last gen and it had triggers and the Z button(well one of them) above the right trigger. Basically my fingers are always on the triggers and will move up if needed to. If the triggers are not used in a particular game, such as Uncharted for shooting, I keep my fingers on the L1 and R1 buttons.

Well it feels new and fresh to me. It was basically my sole reason for putting down cash on a PS3.

I like how the Dualshock 2 was heavier. Also, the analog sticks on the Sixaxis/Dualshock 3 are too loose. On all three of my controllers, the left analog stick tends to glide every once in awhile (thanks to Call of Duty 4's L3 mashing).

so two extremely cheap feeling triggers made a world of difference on probably the most uncomfortable controller ever? wow.....and to think that all this time I thought that the controller should ACTUALLY be comfortable to hold and feel solid in order to be great....I guess maybe I've been wrong this whole time and just maybe I should sell my 360 (which has the best controller to date) so I can play games with a cheap, uncomfortable and paper heavy joke that is known as the Sixaxis...

Well exactly you are not supposed to know you are holding a controller in your hands. Most controllers are light and it gives you a feeling that you are not holding something but watching the game play as you control it.

My favorite controllers have always been the lighest ones such as NES, SNES, GC, PS3, etc. I have not tried out a Dual Shock 3.

That being said, I am a large male and my hands are huge but I just grasped the feeling for the PS3 controller.

Sue me or hate me but I think the PS3 controller is better than the 360 one. The 360 feels too solid and it feels like you are holding a controller and not fully immersed into the game.

you obviously think way too much then when you're playing games. I'd rather have a solid controller than one that feels cheap and like it would break. I personally can't stand the analog stick placement with the Playstation controllers and I'm shocked that a "large male" such as yourself could possible find that comfortable. Then again, you're probably lying about that in an attempt to make yourself sound more credible.

they are the same.... and the position of the analog sticks is horible. they should devide the controllers in two parts like the wiimote and nunchuck. 1000 x more comfortable.

I actually wish they would have kept the PS2 design. The flaps are terrible.

Really? I never knew that. I only use two fingers. Actually, sometimes I don't even think I have any on the shoulder buttons.

This is mostly because I was so used to the GameCube controller. I got a GameCube on December 25, 2001, and a PS2 on December 25, 2003. I guess, during those two years, my hand became accustomed to only two shoulder buttons.

GameCube controller>>>360 controller>>>>>>>>>PS3 controller

I like the PS2 controller's weight more than the PS3's lightness. But I think they're both fine controllers.

I find the PS1, PS2, and PS3 controllers very easy to use. I don't even really have to think about where my hands and fingers are at any time while using these controllers.
