I have a 360. Please convince me to pay for LIVE

I got my 360 on launch, and also got a Gold membership. When I got my PS3, I stopped paying XBL. I just wanted to play online, and I didn't/still don't see the benefit of paying for XBL. Please convince me otherwise. As far as I can tell the only feature that XBL has that I want on PSN is the ability to chat with friends playing different games. What am I missing that is worth $50? I am tempted to get gold because of GOW2, but I need more than one game to justify paying the $50. There are lots of great games coming out left and right this season, and paying for XBL would mean playing one less game. I don't care about netflix, and so I would never use it.

Please use facts to support your claims. If you can't support your claims, then why should anyone believe you?

Well if price is the issue, you can usually find a XBL gold card for cheaper than $50, you could always get 3 months now and see if you like it.POJO_MOFO

J/k it's ok, it's only 50 bucks for 13 months so it's not like it's that huge of a deposit, and you can play any game. People out there pay 130 bucks a year for one game so comparatively it's not much.

The way I see it, this is flame bait. For someone who owns both consoles and not seeing as to why they should pay for online on the 360...the thread wasn't meant for you to be convinced.

XBL is really no different from PSN, but just has some extra good features. The main points someone with both consoles would actually pay for XBL are:

1) They have no problem with spending $7, $12, $50 subscription fees.

2) To play with their friends

3) Enjoy the overall superiority of XBL over PSN(This is me.)

Go convince your ownself. Are you that handicap to not be able come up with an answer yourself when all the materials are right there in front of you?

Its 50 bucks for a year just buy it you wont regret it. I have been an xbox live subscriber from the begining and have had no problems paying the 50 a year. There is an update coming november that is going to be awesome. I have a friend at work who refused to buy live and finially he gave in and wont stop telling me how much he regrets not getting it before.

Sure,but I'm pretty positive it's a whole lot more expensive to maintain a internet connection with millions upon millions of customers than it is to maintain Live. I'd be willing to bet that Live pays for itself due to the ads/sponsors (Honda,Yari,Verizon..etc. Then devs like Ubi and EA advertise their games...). I love Live due to the community (in select games) and it's very nice overall...but if they're gonna charge $50 atleast offer servers.killab2oo5

Some serious cash has been laid out in developing and continuing to develop the platform. Running the thing wont be cheap either.

MS has already recieved a slice from the pie. They get money from game sales, and they get money from perifrial sales. Not to mention everything sold over the marketplace, and ads placed on the marketplace. Do they really need to sell themes. Talk about something that should be free, themes. On the PS3 you can create your own custom theme if you want, for free. Not to mention all the really cool themes people have made and posted up on the internet. But back to the point at hand. The last xbox lost money every year it was out. The PS3 is hemeridging money for Sony (even at the HUGE $500 price point) and you begrudge them selling you optional themes? If some muppet is willing to pay for them and it helps subisidise the huge losses these companies sell you a console for, whats the issue?

At no point did you say specifically why xbl is worth paying for over PSN. Yes playing with your friends, but I can do that on PSN. What is the "overal superiority of xbl over psn"?
