For console gaming I'm pretty much a Nintendo guy, but I want to build my own PC or buy one that's not too expensive but that is pretty powerful to run Photoshop and Illustrator (i'm an Industrial Design major getting my portfolio ready) and as a side benefit be able to run CS Source/ Warcraft III, maybe a 3d Starcraft on it.  I know these games are kinda dated so it wouldn't be top of the line, but was interested in what web sites are good to buy individual PC components from (vid cards, motherboard, etc.  Sorry this is a little OT, I figured there are lots of techies in here who would know.

Why don't you go to the PC Hardware forums ? I am sure that you will get a good answer from the folks down there. Just make sure that you give them a budget.

If you are interested in playing the new PC games coming out... waiting a few months would be very beneficial as prices of the newer hardware are only going to drop... if you just want to play older games than go and get one right now.

Warcraft III and the Frozen Throne are BOTH amazing games, I remember beating the last mission on Frozen Throne and I was sweating bullets because the Naga and the High Elves were sooo strong.
