I just bought MGS4...

I was at the story today w/ some extra $ and saw the game section.

So I decided to buy a game...it was either B:BC or MGS4.

So I got MGS4...got home started playing it...and here are a few things about it.

The Beginning was wtf? I still don't get it.

The story telling and graphics are amazing...jaw dropping...Akibo is hilarious...great mix of sadness humor etc.

The gameplay though...is somewhat weak.

I'm playing on normal difficulty and the AI just seems dumb. I'm standing 20ft away in broad day light on a street, and the enemy PMC is just looking at me, ignores me completly, turns around and walks off...leaving me going wtf?

The single player is great though...i'm just not the biggest fan of the gameplay mechanics..also maybe its because i've been playingCOD4 too much, but is snake friggin slow or what? even when he's running it feels like eternity to walk across the street...I know he's old and whatnot but damn.

As for online... not a fan. I can only create 1 character, and have to pay for the rest? wtf? also the gameplay sucks in online. everyone is basically moving as slow as a snail...not my cup of tea.

Overall though I'm loving the story and the imerrsive experience, but the gameplay feels too much like MGS2-3.

The PMC's and Rebels are at a war, you don't have to intercept them at all, you can even take sides and they won't shoot at you, depends who you help out. If you think the A.I is weak, play on the hardest BIG BOSS mode...it isn't easy, the A.I is much more aware and tough.

If you think the story's good now, wait untill the last battle.

doesn't it just zoom in closer to a character? I've found out in the Meryl and Snake meet up cutscene.

Not EVERY cutscene, but most....one for example is when you first meet up with Ocelot/liquid and the showdown with them and the whole army. This made me think that it wasn't realtime and boosted added detail for that particular scene. (expecially akiba when he saves meryl) looked kinda TOO good, etc. don't know tho.

If you didn't understand the beginning it will only get more complicated. BTW, normal is way to easy on this. Playing on normal can make it a run and gun game, which isn't the way it is suppose to be played.Logan832

I don't want to spoil anything. Some of the shows have relavance towards the game.

Either way the game looks fantastic. I beat it and waited 3 weeks and started replaying yesterday, Im having a blast all over again. Personally I think it looks better than uncharted, I dont see how anyone cant be awed by MGS4 graphics, except hermits, they have been spoiled.

Actually you will understand why Akiba had stomach problems at the end of the game.

go to wikipedia and read the story line of MGS then read the manual. youll understand whats going on better. you probably got home and, basking in the excitement of just purchasing MGS 4, forgot to read or look at anything else that resembled a manual. basically, you need to slow down.

Why the HELL are you playing on NORMAL? That's going to KILL the EXPERIENCE for someone that played an MGS before.

You should play the game on at least Big Boss hard. The enemies are so much more aware, smarter and tougher.
