I just got red lights of death on X360 today. The system is made to crash.

My X360 froze and I did a reset. System still didnt work so I turned off console an let it cool down. Fortunately it still runs. The system is unreliable an MS knows this, hence my 3 month warranty. But MS increase warranty to a year.

The fans are loud, hence spinning to fast. Seems to collect dust too much. The last gen dvd drive spins to fast increasing wear an tear faster. The large power brick is located outside far away from the console yet the system still overheats. This is a poorly built system..and I dont want to mention no futurproofing whatsoever thats another topic.

The 360 is like a High End gaming PC. The PS3 is like a Dell. You can't play it 10 hours and than not let it cool down for a few hours before you play it again. I think most of these problems are oucring because people don't realize that for every 6-8 hours of of game playing you should give the console an hour or two to cool down. That's what I do and I still have mines working great.

My ps3 collects more dust than my 360 and to be honest I don't ever hear the fans of either system because I have a home theater and which is way louder than those fans. As for heat my console is never hot to the touch and neither is the ps3. Maybe you need more space for proper ventilation.

weird my high end pc never fails me even if i play it for hours and hours. but so please do not compare a 360 to a high end pc. unlike high end pcs, 360 fails alot.

everyone knows PS3 kills 360 power wise, let's see 360 do something like "folding".  Hell the 360 can't even play games without over heating just sit down dude.  You get no points for your damage control post.

Ok try putting a PC that equals the 360 power into a case the size of the one the 360 is in. I think you would have problems if you play it for 12 hours straight not giving it time to cool down.

I hate smalll case as you can get into them, yo have to pull bit out to plug everything in but there is not problem with heat in micro atx cases and x360 doesn't even have the p/s in it which genrates a lot of heat. why can the shuttle run 24/7 no problems with a dual core cpu and highend gpu?

you buy me the case and will try it.  the case is not the problem but the lack of heatsink on the 360 gpu, I could stick a decent heatsnik on it and wouldn'toverheat, and what about those tiny 60mm fans or are they 40mm?  pcs don't have less than 80mm and many have 120mm plus the p/s fans

My 360 gave me disk read errors the second day of me owning it and playing a brand new game... this tells me that the system is made to be junk from the start. It doesn't overheat... it doesn't get problems over time... it's already junk when you take it out of the box. It just takes some time before it stops working in most instances.

 The thing is loud...

The guide has framerate issues... you're only switching between blades and it lags just doing that.

It gets super hot...

But I still love it because of the amazing games.

Huh? The 360 have "SOME" sweet games? But it seems like only game that people call out is Gears. Nothing else. What happen to hype around lost planet, chromehounds, they just came and went. No other good games except gears and gears came out 1 yr after launch. Zephyr may be great for only first time 360 buyers. I would hold off on buying a 360 until halo3, fable2, huxley comes out. And a zephyr for around $470 is just too much. I rather get a ps3 20gb for $500. At least it comes with a built-in br. ps3 is playing catch up but I think they are started to be better in the long run. I sure like to get the slim ps2... it is so tiny, i can put it in my car.

Hmmm, sorry if that really happened, but somehow I doubt it after reading all of your other threads.  I'll have to take these threads with a grain of salt unless gamercards are posted.

I know old 360's might have a higher than norm defect rate.  I can't believe everyone is making it up.  However, I know many of these threads are people that are afraid of thier other investments not panning out for them.  Sorry if your not one of them.

All I know is myself and the 5 friends who bought launch systems have had no problems.

No it isn't. The GPU in the 360 is based on the R600 which isn't even out on the PC yet. That generates a lot of heat. So don't claim the 360 doesn't equal a high end PC.

Why do the lems here think that just beucase they got one that works, it's all a big conspiracy that any dont work. So, lets say it has a 50% failure rate (3 rings within, say.. a 2 year span) (probably not that high.. just for arguments sake) You got one of the 50% that work, congratulations, the failure rate is still TERIBBLE... only truely blind lems wont admit the Xbox hardware is not failure-prone And, no High end gaming pc's use good heatsinks, so they dont overheat... because people who build high end gaming pc's (unlike MS, evidently) know to get an adequatly sized heatsink for there hardware. (or just fill it with oil... i'm really wanna try that out)

X360 just has poor quality hardware, I'm not saying it isnt powerful or anything. But way too many people are having problems with their 360's and this isnt just launch systems either. I'm sure the 120gig black 360 will have better quality hardware *if the system is real* but we'll see.

Yep, if one 360 fails, then all the others are as good as dead. I can't believe fanboys these days, they will grasp at anything!her0_54
It hasn't been just one console. The hardware is unreliable and there is no telling when others will break down. So the only one grasping here is your damage control.

the only reason why 360 got 10 million sells is because people had to buy the 360 one to three times again since their old ones broke and they don't want to abandon all the games they've bought so far for it. or else the sales would be only 4 million, over a year and 4 million sales, sad. the ps3 is almost reaching 3 million and it's been over 3 months.

meh everyone knows 360's overheat and have the red light ring of death ...
im glad im waiting for the smaller processors / rumoured "elite / Zephyer" version :-)

but either way u cant deny the 360 has some sweet games ...

choasgod
360 3 red lights is a HARDWARE failure when will the fanyboys learn this here in system wars! 360 does not overheat prove it otherwise it does have hardware failures this is true I wish people would get it right, 3 red lights=equals HARDWARE failure not overheating. 2 red lights is a overheating issue never have I read this happening before.

so your saying 6 million 360's have had hardware issues? I think your taking it to the extreme with that one.. I highly doubt that many systems have failed.

The 360 is getting better each year like some other console did.
