Lots of people make fun of Wiisports for being a pretty simple game but it's actually a really fun game (not to play by yourself obviously) and a lot more fun than all the so called big games of this gen, for me at least.

Anyone else been disappointed by so many of the big games this gen (according to SW), and had more fun with a simple game like Wiisports (or any other game that hasn't been that highly praised by the gaming community)?

Wiisports is pretty much as "casual" as it gets but to me it's ten times better than most of the big "hardcore" games of this gen. A lot of the games feel generic and I honestly feel like I've played them before. Didn't get that feeling with Wiisports.

I'm hoping 2008 is a better year for these hardcore games. I have a strong feeling that 2-3 years from now we'll look back at the 2006/7 games and be surprised at how highly praised most of the games were.

Anyhoo, what do you guys think? Have you been shocked by a game that didn't get that much critical acclaim? Has anyone else found a simple game to destroy the majority of so called "hardcore" titles this gen?

I thought COD4 multiplayer was an eye-opening experience for me.

Yeah, it builds on things like Counter-Strike, Halo, and other FPS.

But WiiSports was just way too basic for me to enjoy. Unique but ultimately, not satisfying for me.

You know Very Best having a Wii has changed your posting quite a bit.....

But anyways I agree Wiisports is a ton of gun with other people. What great about it is anyone can be good at it. It not like when playing Halo when you have a couple ringers that no one can beat.

Wii Sports is one of the best games you will play only if you have other people around.

If you are alone and have no friends, then of course you won't enjoy Wii Sports.

Wii sports is fun but only with friends over for me. Seeing as most of my gaming is done without 3 or 4 people over it doesnt get that much play. It also gets old fast for me which makes it one of those games that is easy to pass off to a friend and fun to watch.

But overall I have vastly enjoyed Uncharted, HS, Rachet and Clank, Rainbow Six and COD4 alot more then Wii sports. Heck in fact I have more fun with the memory game on Wii play or the Mii channel seeing what cool new Miis are available.

Just MO.

Actually, I don't have a Wii. :P

One of my friends does so I get to play it...but I don't own one.

And yeah, it's just a really good, simple MP game. I know that I'm gonna be playing it on and off for most of this gen while most of these huge hardcore games that everyone in SW talks about...I won't touch again. Must just be me.

Or maybe everyone will change their opinions in a couple of years...

From what I experienced, Wiisports is pretty damn good. It's the perfect family/gathering game set.

I love to play it with my friends, but the funniest MP game so far for me is FIFA 08, insane fun with friends.

I got bored with Wii Sports shortly after it's release, when I play games with my friends/wife there are just games out there that are far more interesting... once Mario Kart Wii and SSBB come out Wii Sports will be even less likely to ever be played on my Wii.

Wii Sports is the only game to rival Street Fighter in local play.

I played it quite a lot, especially bowling (trying to max out my skill level) but once i got other games, i just stopped. It'll be much better if i was able to somehow create a Wii Sports channel to play occasionally rather than dig out the Wii sports disc again and again. It's definitely fun in MP terms, maybe more so than typical shooters because for once, anyone can participate with no prior knowledge of video games at all.

If you found CoD4 "eye-opening" it is time to build a high end PC and take it to the next level.

I sort of hate Wii Sports, but only cuz I seriously suck at it. My little sister owns me when ever we play. Imo its the most challenging game this gen.

As usual I agree with you. I doubt it'll ever be called a life changing experience but it's fantastic fun with family or friends (more so than most other sports games) and most importantly it feels new.

When I look back on this gen it may well be games like this or Major Minor or some equally bizarre concept that i remember most fondly, if only because of the memories of playing it socially

Ouch... anyway, the mechanic is overly predictable and easy to find hte loopholes to getting strikes, getting fast serves, getting super punches, baseball (not much strategy in there lol), and golf is wel... just .... mildly random.

Yeah I enjoyed those two games two (of the package), the other's controls were just broken imho.

I kind of came to conclusion that Wii Sports didn't have the depth to keep me going. Like there is very few tiers (if you will) of skill in the game. After a while I think the most fun I had was analyzing how the Wiimote actually acts as an input, Bowling probably being the best one to analyze.

Wii Sports is a great game, even with it simplicity.

Its the only golf game I will ever play.

I can relate. I'm having a crapload of fun with Elebits. The game can be pretty awesome, letting you make messes to capture tiny beings for your own ends. Who didn't feel like God when they used the vacuum gun :P?

I used to play it almost everyday, but not as of late. When friends come over, we usually play Halo 3 for the MP experience rather than Wii Sports.

I agree. To be honest I wasnt expecting much when I was about to play Wii Sports but when I did I wanted to try out each and every game it had. Its a grand ol time with friends. Wii boxing is my favorite. I think I lost 5lbs with that one. lol

Until I get another Remote, I can't really experience teh funz with my family. :(

But it's still pretty fun by yourself ('specially tennis!).
