I am thinking of getting one. I grew up on nintendo as it and sega were the only names around then. When the psx came out I got it because Im a huge FF fan and SquareEnix was no longer releasing new FF games for Nintendo at the time. I bought a ps2 for pretty much the same reason as FFX was my first game for it. The XBOX came out around that time but I never gave it much attention. I now have a ps3 and have also become an all around gamer as im 22 years old and work a lot and no longer have the time to play long games like the FF series. I have never played the 360. I really don't know much about it. I would like to get it for exclusives like gears of war, but i also would like to know what the controller is like compared to a ps controller, the differences between XBL and PSN and anything else you guys can tell me so i have an educated idea about buying one.

Go over a friends house that has a 360 play it for a few days, if you like it then buy it. There are plenty of great games that the 360 has and having that and a PS3 would make a really good combo. However this is if you have the money to do this, I wouldn't recommend buying it over an impulse unless you had the money.

Don't buy it.

You'll feel cheated... by Sony and Nintedo.

The 360 controller is one of the best I've ever used, Personally, I'm just "okay" with the Dualshock. As for XBL and PSN, the difference is that XBL has a lot more features and is overall a better service.

The controller is great. It kind of molds to your hands and feels nice. It's good for everything except fighting games.

Why would he feel "cheated" with games like Fable 2, Gears 2, Mass Effect, Ninja Gaiden 2, Banjo 3, Viva Pinata 2, Kameo, Bioshock, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, Halo 3, the full versions of Oblivion, Fallout 3 (PC/360 only), the best versions of most multiplatforms, the 199$ only price, no need for mandatory installations in almost every game like PS3, the huge online community that actually talks to you and th absolutly vast 2009 lineup with some of the most huge, epic, open world next gen upcoming games in the link below ?

mmHmmm.... This is a really tough call, hows is your pc? Is it a nice PC or mediocre? I really wouldn't be asking you all these questions if you didn't own a console already. However if you don't have a great PC, then buy a 360 because it provides an array of great games that you are really missing out this generation.

I am on the look out for one myself. The 2009 line up for the 360 looks really crappy to me so far but I want to snag one to play with people who do not own a PS3.

Waiting on another price drop or some bundle that catches my eye at the moment.

I take it you do not like huge RPGs and open world games or vast epic stategy titles like KUF2, but have a look at the below 2009 lineup link for 360 anyway

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26715971

For me 2009 360 lineup is the best game lineup in years, far better than 2008 and 2007 too, simply because has a vastly bigger number of huge open world next gen games in many genres too, like RPG, adventure, strategy etc, only 2008 is somewhat comparable, but had vastly less games of the kind i like

He makes a great point, if you have the money and are interested in 360 exclusives then buy one. 2009 is going to be one hell of a year for all consoles and PC this generation. 2009 is going to be one of the best gaming years for everyone yet.

He meant that once you get spoiled by the 360 and all its games, you will feel cheated with the pos3rd and the peepee and the games they have.

Console RPGs have never really been my cup of tea. I enjoy RPGs but more so of games along the lines of BG Shadows Of Amn/Throne Of Bhaal, Planescape Torment, Fallout 1&2, Diablo 1&2, etc.

There are a few exceptons but I mainly play consoles for the action and third person shooter games.

But if you do not have a PC, 360 gets by miles the most PC or PC like RPG's, i was a PC RPG gamer before myself, games like Fable 2 expansions (getting it today :) ), Fallout 3 expansions, Mass Effect 1-2, Two Worlds Temptation, Divinity 2, Risen, Venetica, Dungeon Hero, Gothic 4, Witcher white wolf, Black Legion, Precursors etc are my most wanted in 2009

Following them are JRPG's like FF13, SO4 and huge strategy epic titles like KUF2 and open world adventures like Alan Wake, those games are the absolutly best for me in 2009, exactly because i was a PC RPG gamer before and i like huge epic open worlds

Yea but Black Isle games are a thing of the past and 2d sprites look terrible on a high-res monitor.

Anyways if you like RPGs you really should get a 360. You will be able to find at least a couple RPGs that you like.

I got it recently and it's okay. Nothing spectacular or mind blasting, but I knew what I was getting into.

If you've got the money, there's no reason not to get one - there are plenty of great games to justify a purchase. It's a great system when it works.

You should know that you have to pay an annual $50 fee for Xbox Live service to play online on the 360, and if you can't have a wired connection in your gaming setup, then you'll need to buy a $100 wireless adapter in order to connect your 360 to the internet wirelessly.

Otherwise, the $300 Xbox 360 "Pro" comes with a 60GB hard drive and a wired headset if I remember correctly. The $400 Xbox 360 "Elite" comes with a 120GB hard drive and a wired headset as well. The $200 Xbox 360 "Arcade" comes with no hard drive and no headset. The wired 360 headset costs about $20 and Microsoft offers a 20GB with 3 months of complimentary Xbox Live for Arcade buyers for $30. All Xbox 360s ship with combination composite (SD) / component (HD) cables.

The wireless Xbox 360 controllers run on 2 AA batteries and there are wired controller (but I think you can only connect a maximum of 2 wired controllers to a single Xbox 360 at a time).

If any information is missing or incorrect, please let me know, because this is what I know to be correct.
