PS3 - Pros = nice multimedia center w/ blue ray and such. Free online play. Reliable hardware. Lots of backward compatibility w/ the 60 or 80 gig versions. VERY bright future with games such as MGS4, FF13, GT5 coming out among others.
Cons = Online perhaps not as good as X-Box Live. Only PS1 backward compatibility on the 40 gig version. More expensive than the 360.
Current exlusives worth buying: Motorstorm, Resistance, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk...probably some more I can't think of off the top of my head.
360 - Pros = Many good games out currently. Online is probably the best for consoles. Cheaper than PS3. Has gotten the better game with some multi-platforms (ex: Madden).
Cons - Online not free. Many of it's good games are on or go to PC (ex: Bioshock, Gears, etc). No forms of other media unless you buy seperately (HD player). Backward compatibility is pretty limited. Unreliable hardware (RROD).
Current exlusives worth buying: Forza, Halo, Mass Effect, Ace Combat, PuzzleQuest...probably some more I can't think of off the top of my head.
at this point, it really all depends on which controller you like more.
it's hard to pick one without some sort of bias, so my recommendation is to save some money and buy both.
I advice you to ask this in the 360 and the PS3 forums rather than here. Her it will soon evolve to a topic where fanboys of both systems start a war on each other. NielsNL
Yeah wrong place to ask.
In short:
If you want to have a lot of games to choose from, get the 360. It has by far the better library, though the PS3 will see some great games in 08.
The 360 pro costs $350 and comes with two games. The chepest PS3 costs 400, but lacks Back-compatability with the PS2. The "real" Ps3 costs 500 and comes with 1 game. Needless to say, the 360 is the better choice if the cost of entry is a factor.
The PS3 comes with a Blu-Ray Drive for next gen movie playback. If that is something you were planning to buy, the PS3 can be a great bargin.
If you have a current gaming PC, then you can play many of the 360's best games without the 360.
Big current console exclusives:
360-
Halo 3
Bioshock
Forza 2
Mass Effect
Gears of War
PS3-
Uncharted
Ratchet and Clank
Heavenly Sword
Resistence Fall of Man
Future Big exclusives:
360-
Ninja Gaidan 2
Halo Wars
Banjo Kazooie
Alan Wake
More Gears
PS3-
Metal Gear Solid 4
Final Fantasy 13
Killzone 2
More R & C
More Resistence
God of war 3 (Distant Future)
Both consoles will get:
RE5
GTA 4
Devil May Cry
Its hard to say. I own both, so I amy not be teh best person to ask. 360 is great right now, but there future game lineups are looking pretty Abysmal. PS3 dosent have much now, but is looking much better than 360 next year. So its really up to weather you want great games now then not so great games later (360) or Not so great games now and Great Games later (PS3)
360 has some great games and a solid user base that supports online gaming. Its not a bad system by any stretch, but I just went the other way. PS3 has good games coming up that are exclusive and plenty of 3rd party multiplatform games. I'm a huge RE fan, so as long as RE:5 is still multiplatform I'll pretty happy with my purchase. My choice really came down to hardware. After seing my friends 360 die more than once, I have no desire to buy something that I know will probably break down. I really wanted wireless too, and the PS3 has that built in. Had I bought a 360 and a wireless adapter I would have gone beyond the 40GB PS3 price point. Darthmatt
Yeah, The best games in 08 are Multiplats. RE5 and GTA4.
No Wi Fi on 360 sucks if you need Wi Fi. The 360 Wi Fi adaptor goes for $100. Ouch.

Yeah I know. I hate wires, thats why I spent the money setting up a wireless network at home in the first place. I'm didnt want spending $100 more just to use something thats standard on the PS3.PS3 - Pros = nice multimedia center w/ blue ray and such. Free online play. Reliable hardware. Ability to copy your multimedia to the system HDD, Built in Battery in the Controll is chargable via USB, so that the battery hassle gone

Good post derek240
The PS3 doesn't have a very bright future and the games always get delayed so I would go with a 360Geek_Speak101
I seriously hope your joking. They have better stuff beyond 07 than 360.
I can't choose between either and I am only buying one HD console, my advice would still be to just wait :?. If the 360 didn't have the ring of death issues I would have one by now, that really lets it down though and I may end up with a PS3 eventually...cslineyThats just what I'm worrying about. The 360 has better games but unreliable hardware.

I'm not to sure you'll have to worry about the quantity of games that 360 has over PS3, unless you buy or rent more than 3 games a month, if you don't the PS3 has enough games to keep you satisfied for months(or until MGS4 comes out). Plus it has a lot of other cool functions.
When its all said and done, it really comes down to games. The 360 have the biggest library for your selections. So if you're going to buy a console to play games and play with other people, the Xbox 360 is the way to go.
Don't let the reliability issues on the 360 put you off. MS has it covered, and you can always take out an extended warranty if you want it fixed faster. Besides which, the newer ones are a lot better.
What you need to really consider is this;
1. What games am i most drawn to?
2. Do i need anything thats standard on PS3 but optional on the 360?
If you want wireless internet connection, a HD movie drive, controllers that charge and online play, then you may want to look at the PS3, as it will work out cheaper in the end.
However, if you only want one or none of the above, go with the 360. It has a vast library to choose from thats already established, and will probably give you all you need.
Either way, i doubt you'll be dissapointed.
I'd go PS3, it's proven its a more powerful system, it has a far better 2008 lineup. In addition to games it also plays HD movies, allows you to surf the web on your TV, run your own OS, stream to PSP, etc... The PS3 also lets you upgrade using third party accessories, while X360 is proprietary. Price used to be a big issue for PS3, but now PS3 is actually cheaper. You get nickel and dimed for everything with X360. Everything is included with PS3. Secondly for about the same price you are really taking a big chance. I used to feel sorry for people who got the RROD, but people buying the system now; know their is a chance it will break. If you still buy an X360 and it dies, well you kind've had it coming to you.

You shouldn't worry about hardware. All systems come with a 3 year warranty by default

WiFi,Blu-ray,Remote play make 360 look expensive.
360 - games, backwards compatibility, beter online, better controller, better price, brighter future
PS3 - failure, free online
PS3: Pros:
1. Cheap Blu-Ray Player
2. Exclusives include: FF XIII, FF XIII Versus, White Knight Story, Metal Gear Solid 4
Cons: 1. For the 80 GB you need $500.
2. Library is really lacking right now.
3. Loss of exclusives is killing them.
4. Multi-platforms are better on other consoles.
Xbox 360: Pros: 1. Expansive library.
2. Exclusives like Mass Effect, Halo, Forza Motorsport, Fable 2, Bioshock, Gears of War
3. Multi-platformers are better (like GTAIV, which has more DLC)
4.Xbox Live is a better online service.
Cons: 1. Goes only to 720i, not 1080p.
2. Can break easily.
I personally like Ps3 more
PS3 Good
-Free online
-Alot exclusives like FF, God Of War, Tekken..etc
-Doesnt Brake or Overheat
-BluyRAy..e.tc
PS3 Bads
-only 2 controlers
-the libraby now is small
-it lost some exclusives
360 Good
-Good Library now
-The multiplat get higher score on 360
-More Controllers
360 Bads
-Pay to Play online:(
-The line up for 2008 is not as good. It only has around 15-22 games that are exclusives
-Can brake
Okay Now listen If you area person that plays games for fun and doesnt care if the 360 get higher score on multiplat just because it has a hardly noticeable difference then PS3 is for you. Although even if it plays the same..etc just the Grafic that is HARDLY noticeable. YOU would NEED to concentrate to see the difference. Anyways the 360 vs PS3 always comes down to the exclusives. ASK someone here for all the exclusives for 360 and PS3 FULL LIST and research the games. Dont look at the common ones like FF or MGS4. Look at every game and look them up.
If you dont care that you pay 50$ for 360 then its good but I would not pay.
