I own Mario Odyssey - Ask me everything / anyone else got it?

Again I got my games earlier than most. While AssCreed Origin has to wait in it's god box, I'm going to play Mario odyssey. Want to know something about it? Feel free to ask me anything. Keep in mind I just started playing it, I can only talk about the beginning of the game

is it a 11/10 or 10/10?

One thing I want to note is that it might be annoying if you really hate motion controls. I have yet to find a way how to disable them. some actions are only possible using motion controls.

Im not a fan of motion controls but on BOTW i used motion when aiming all the time because of how accurate you can be with a bow.

Sadly it's the annoying stuff. For example you need to shake the controller to jump higher as frog. You need to shake the controller to have your hat aim at an enemy. You have to move the controller up to throw the hat upwards. You need to shake the controller to climb faster. You need to move the controller sidewards so your hat instantly flies around you etc.

How are the controls? And is the camera good?

Well as I said above, it forces you to use motion controls. r at least I haven't found a way around it. That aside it does play very nice (my main issue is attacking many small enemies which pretty much forces you to use a motion attack. Camera has some issues if there is a wall close to you. This was especially annoying in the 2nd world with the waterfalls. The default setting is also really slow, but you can increase the speed of the camera.

How is the frame rate? Performance docked vs handheld?

So far I have only played it docked with a Pro controller. I haven't noticed any frame drops, it seems to run really stable. However, to be honest I'm not the kind of guy who has a good eye for stuff liek that

to me? No. But I'm sure others will think so.

To me? no. BotW was awesome with what it did to open world. Mario feels more limited. Most of the characters wear hats o you can't control them. So it comes down to very little characters you can acually control.

What is the resolution on the docked version? I am reluctant to buy Switch as i heard it's a weak console and cheaply made. I mostly enjoy games on the big screen, so the resolution is important to me.

Can you throw Cappy at Pauline and control her?

I'm at world 6 now with over 100 moons, gonna go to bef soon. The Bowser fight after world 5 was awesome. The game overall is extremely easy though. I didn't like the forest world, but the water and dessert worlds were awesome. I can share pics if you want. I do however play in german.

I can now say it runs smoothly in handheld mode as well, played it for about 3 hours in handheld mode.

I have no idea, sorry. When playing it on my 4k HDR 55'' Samsung Tv it looked alright.

I haven't been to the CityWorld, it is not part of the first 6 worlds you come across.

I haven't seen all costumes yet, but some were awesome. I love playing with Mario in his Shorts or in Peaches wedding dress xD

The motion controls are always weird at first (they're different from one game to the next) but do you feel they can be learned to be consistent? I saw a video in which someone showed them to work fine, but I wonder how much practice it would take.

Just got it. Enjoying it so far, but unless I'm missing something there are certain moves that require motion controls. Nintendo appears to have necessitated their gimmicky bullshit in order to execute a full moveset. When playing in handheld mode, I literally have to shake the whole fucking system, screen and all, to toss the cap upwards, or to fly it in a circle around Mario.

Please tell me Nintendo didn't actually do this. They recommend playing this with the Joy-cons detached, so I fear this is the way it is, but that's not always preferable and I don't want to play this missing out on moves because I'd prefer NOT to be shaking my Switch like a goddamn salt shaker to be able to use them. Someone give me the good news, please.

I go out of my way not to use the motion controls as much as I can. Playing with a Pro controller it is almost impossible since you have to pretty much do 90 degree moves which is hard to do while moving Mario. It would probably work better with the Joy-Cons. Still, no "no motion control" option is a pain.

That's pretty much what I sai yesterday. Some moves can ONLY be done using motion controls. No, there is no way. You can deactivate the aiming in a tank with motion control, but there is no alternative to the shaking and 90 degreen motions you have to do for the strongest attack, to move faster, jump higher etc.

... Forced motion control on a PORTABLE should reduce the score. No way I'm going to fling m arms around in a train or while lying down in my bed. wtf Nintendo, patch this!

You can check the ingame manual, there is no alternative to some moves including the aimed attacks, climbing and jumping higher and many more. You can get around some. Like if you run circles and start spinning you can use the hat cycles around you move
