I played GT3 today, and my eyes bled.

Wow, only 6 short years ago I said, this is as good as it gets. How could they possibly make it any better. Then I played the GT5:P demo a couple days ago, so I though it'd be a good idea to play GT3 and brush up on my skills a bit.

So I put the disk in, load my old save file, start a race, and go blind. The game looks horrible, like day and night difference. I did the 1st track, the speedway, did it twice, turned of the game, and went to sleep.

Wow, just think in 6 years, when GT7 is released...will GT5P look like crap that GT3 looks in this day and age?

heck I can't even play one of my favorite game ( Devil May Cry 3 ) anymore because it looks like a PS1 game now

Really? I've had the opposite experience. After firing up GT3 again for the first time in several years, I was amazed at how good it looked for being an early PS2 game.Corvin

Wouldn't matter. I judge a game within the context of the system it was released. GT3 is aged but it still looked absolutely fantastic for its time, and it still stands up today, aside from a lack of HD resolutions. I would never cease to be amazed by its visuals within this context, which is why I can still go back and buy games for older systems and be impressed with their graphics.

Try playing FFVII.

No trust me DMC3 still looks like a PS2 game dont belive me go pop in the orignal Metal Gear Solid or any other decent title for the PS1 and you will see what I mean. Although I think its laughable for anyone who said this gen of consoles showed the least improvement. Fact is even on a SDTV this gen of consoles looks signicantly better but on a HDTV ?It may be the biggest leap of any of the generations.

Final Fantasy VII is immune from graphical bleed syndrome. Plus, i play it on my PSP and it looks sexier than Jessican Alba...ok maybe not, but u get what im gettin at here :P

I would say 6 years from now, the graphics of the PS3 will finally match those of the Wii.XenoNinja

GT4 is one ugly game too, i really dont know what people like about it. Forza when played on 360 looks amazing still, the car models look nowhere near as basic which was the primary complaint.WuTangG

And I just came back from playing my Sega Genesis and N64. Great fun... Mario 64 and Sonic 3 still look good down to this day...

That's one of the pros of PC gaming, you just crank up the res and AA all the way up together with all the other settings, and perhaps use some extra tweaks or mods too, and you've got yourself a decent looking game. Tho eventually even that won't help since it will still look like polygon hell eventually. Personally I'm not too bothered by dated graphics as long as the game is good, nostalgia helps too and you kinda get used to them after the first shock.

I doubt we see as huge advancement now as we did in the past 10 or so years but we will definately still notice the difference.

This is why I prefer unique art styles in games. Most SNES games still look gorgeous. Games like Okami and Eternal Sonata will still look pretty 10 years from now. Look at all the normal "zomg best graphics evar" games for PS1 and N64 now. Most of them are ugly as sin, except a very few including Mario 64.BioShockOwnz

Your'e either 9 or 13 years old for even believing GT3 or GT4 looking like crap, even to this day.

Hell, they both look waaaaaaay better than what Wii has in store. But to actually consider those racers as "eye-bleeders" is extremely pathetic.
